Overall its not that impressive of a weapon, but i do consider it a new 'toy' to play with. More or less 2h peircing was giving from a roleplaying perspective because of knight's carrying lances so i think this is a nice addition. I would hold off for a couple more weeks, im sure another couple lances will turn up. This fall's under the 'crap loot' category.
It sucks, plain and simple. Yes we do have piercing skill now. But this weapon sucks though. It has the graphic of a runed bone fork. And it requires 2 hands to use and swings like a 2 handed weapon. Not at all like a piercer. If they are going to give us piercing, then I want to be stabbing something.
Hmm, in fact it is more of a Pole weapon than a piercer, that's why it requires two hands. That's something that had been announced some time ago. Ant the idea of Pole weapons is quite in the line of the Pally's usual armory setup in Fantasy. No need to say it sucks. Wait to see whaty other Pole weapons will be found
I have been using it for 2 days now and it rocks... Finally a new toy to play with...
I have been wanting a reason to use a new skill...
Stop thinking of the dam it does and and how its not that great a weapon and be happy we have something new as paladins to use... I think it looks cool and have gotten many tells regarding it asking what it is and always get a DAMN nice weapon as a response when I tall or show them... It looks killer
This is a terrible weapon if it is two hand peircing. Its the equivalent of a BIBS, paladin only, and dropped off a level 40 mob deep in a dungeon. Seams like it would be easier to just go kill a goblin guard in permafrost and get a svilery two handed axe, or buy a BIBS for 200pp.
Yeah... except that unlike a BIBS or a Silvery 2h Axe, this weapon gives +5 str, +5 wis (both awesome for a paladin) and +5 vs. Cold (important in Velious)
I think the Deepwater Harpoon (old pally quest item) should be changed to piercing. However, I do agree that forcing Paladins to use both hands when using piercing weapon(s) is stupid. Nobody else has this restriction. Plus, how are we supposed to practice the piercing skill if this is the only piercing weapon that a Paladin can use?
Keyne Falconer Paladin of Love, 26th season. Xegony Server.
Okay, three piercing weapons... none of which my lvl 26 paladin self can go and get herself.
Without being a twink, or spending all the cash I'm trying to save for the plat bars and such for my Ro Armour, how do I get a piercing weapon that I can practice with? Especially one that can compare to the weapons I already have.
If I would've gotten the piercing skill at lvl 1 and access to weapons that I could use, I'm sure I wouldn't mind this at all.
I meant that the skill, as implemented, stinks. Not that this weapon stinks.
Further, compared to the BIBS, this has a 7 lower delay, but still above the all-important 40 delay for the damage bonus... assuming this does get the two-handed damage bonus.
If, due to coding errors, this does not get that damage bonus, then it does indeed suck.
I personally think that this is an awesome weapon. A very kind Gnome Wizard gave me one at 14th Level and other than resorting to my Axe of the Iron Back to keep my 2hs skill up, I use it exclusively. I always get looks carrying it and the people I group with are always suprised at the damage I'm able to deal out with it. I think it is rather sweet.
Cenzar Kindredsoul Paladin of the 27th Siege Chivalrous Knight of Truth and servant of Mithaniel Marr Xegony
This paly only piercer is actualy a 2 handed piercer and is paladin useable and they can gain skill in using it. this weapon really isn't that great for the level that you need to get it.
Not to be the doomsayer.. but if you are a pally of any level at all, you know we are going to get the short end of the stick. We got lay hands and rest went down hill. you have to take over the world to get a peice of Ro armor...why think that we are going to get some sort of cool new weapon? We don't even get new quests... just add on's to the quest we already had --> Ghoulbane: to : soulfire: to : fiery avenger: to : fiery defender. You have one path ot follow to get what you want... ignore the crap along the way and use what everyone else is...cause it will be the only thing that will get the job done. Sorry to bring ya down. but that is the way it is.
I said it earlier to the Iksar warrior. The Characters are equal in so much as they can. Add to this the fact that a paladin is supposed to be a warrior of his faith and his god. The character of a paladin for all those who don't know is one of suffering and strife, humbling him and alloiwing him to fight in the name of his God. personally i like the hard quest and tough time of a paladin, it is the paladin character. Ithink Verant got it jsut right. Constant struggle with amazing rewards at the end. As i said before to the warrior if you don't like the the character, if you don't like the struggling life of a paladin, then quit and take up the more diverse and some what easier ways of a warrior just for not as grand rewards. And there my friends is the equality of the game. I said kudos to Verant who made all the classes in relatively decent images of those that they are patterned on.
