Have been camping the Sentient Suits off and on over the past couple weeks to get sentient armor for a lower level sk in the guild. From our experience, sentient armor seems to drop off approximately every 10 or 15 kills. Crushed gems drop off about every fifth kill and many velium weapons drop as well. At level 53, the exp is fairly decent. My druid friend snare pulls, I charm, he pulls another and we go to town dotting and watching my charmed "hastened" suit mow down the enemy. A good camp for two mid 50's characters.
Did they up the drop rate of this stuff again? I went out quadding these things to see if they were worth it. A 58th level wiz with KEI shouldn't have a problem doing this. But in my first 4 quads I got a BP, bracer, legs, and 2 gloves, not to mention 2 gems. Either they raised the drop rate or I just got really lucky. Anyone else getting better drops?
The drops we, my level 53 druid friend and myself (level 42 chanty) got SUCKED. We camped these things for DAYS. I sure hope they did change it, the times we killed them were before you so I am going to go check on it! :D
Hehe, I'm rather curious why you thought this was monk wearable in the first place. It's a good set but if you already have good starting INT then you will probably need melee jewelry and other items to support the set.
i was checking out a vendor in luclin and seen this breastplate...and was wow what the hell is this...well anyways i bought it for 1118 plat..now my 20th lvl sk can drop his coietier tunic :-) Ironking 59th lvl paladin the rathe server
this armor is useless for a dark elf or euridite. much better for the dumb and strong races. ac is about the same as darkforge but the hp from darkforge make it much better for the smart weak races. compliment your darkforge with a couple crusty bracers and your set, straight till you get your planer armor.
Yeah nevermind the fact that this armor is a drop and darkforge is well... forged/quested/expensive. This stuff is great twink gear, and there's something cool about a SK with 150+ Int.

I was walking through Feerott. Bashing spiders and lesser scarabs when this elf appears out of nowhere and gives me Sentient Gauntlets. Now these are the greatest thing for a low level like my Ogre but my question is that on my CHR they a rust red color. Though I have been reading that it is supose to have been a bloody red? has this changed?
its probably because you dont have your velious armor turned on. go to the eqclient.ini file in your everquest folder and where it says "loadarmor17=false" and all the other loadarmorXX=false, change all the "false" to "true." just a warning tho, even though you will see many new great looking appearences for armor, turning on the velious graphics will make your everquest load maybe twice as long.
I got my Sentient armor a while back. I love the blood red look of it and it is also very usefull. The extra int form all the pieces gives mucha mana for soloing. I have been slowly upgrading fron this armor to blood ember, which is nice because it still looks like I have a full set of armor even though part of my armor is blood ember and part is sentient. By the way I have only seen the sentient breastplate (on Luclin) being sold once or twice, and it was selling for around 2k

I still wear a Dusty Breastplate on my DE Shadowknight for the better AC and Sta/HPs, but this armor looks incredible on a Dark Elf. It's blood red with some kind of demonic face on the front, and flames on the back. I can't wait to get a full suit for ceremonial purposes.
If these suits of Sentient Armor were mobs in the 30-35 range, I could see the drop rate changed. This is the level range where SK's are trying to get Darkforge Armor, and if this was common drop, it would be Just as good/slightly better, than the DF armor. Being as it's off mobs in the 45 range, there's no reason to Nerf it, as many SK's already have Darkforge, and are currently ready to go for Planar/Blood Ember.

Maybe I'm lucky, but out of my first 3 sentients ever to kill..the third one dropped a BP. Killed 1 or 2 more with nothing else. BTW what is price on this item. Ive heard from 3k to 20k
Speaking of stats... The Darkforge BP that i wear is 20ac +10sta +3sv magic, the Sentient is +1 ac and INT instead of STA, depending on the race of the wearer, or the situation, either can be good. I wouldn't mind a sentient BP to throw in my pack for soloing purposes, then switch to DF for tanking. Don't flame if you can't get the facts straight, if you can, flame away, but either of these BP's can last you til a planar drop if necessary.
This BP is worse than Darkforge, people who'd want to wear this for any reason other than having a toy (ph4t l00ks) are level 30-40, not many people in that range can afford ( or would pay ) your figures there. Try 1500pp Max, people who can afford to pay you 3k+ for a single item wouldn't wear this thing.
Ahhh.. This is certainly not worse then Darkforge. It's not a whole lot better though. The AC is similar, but that doesn't make it worse. I agree for a 'weak race' SK, darkforge might be the better choice. But for the big, dumb races (maily trolls - which I happen to be), having somthing which imbues Intelligence is wonderful. The little extra weight of the Sentient doesn't really hurt us, and the Intelligence only helps.
It is most likely because it isn't lore item, or at least according to the post it's not. That would mean a group could feasably sit and camp the spawn until their backpacks are loaded head back to mainland and make a mint. Probably nerfed it so reduce rate of farming.
I think they did. A druid and I kept the spawn clear for almost 10 hours and did not get a single piece of armor. I went back the next day and killed them for about 4 to 5 hours and still have not seen a piece. In that time we got one of the quest gems.
Ok in an 8 hour camp with me being the only SK in the group I was able to acquire almost a full suit of Sentient 1 Bracer, 1 Gauntlets, 1 Helm, 1 Boots, 2 Arms Now we were killing up to 3 of them at a time so the drop rate I would say has been possibley lowered but it is not impossible to get the armor by any means, what appears to be rarer from the Sentient Armor are the Gems for the Velium Armor Quests, we received 3 gems in the time I acquired all of the armor.
Our party looted 2 BPS, 3 greaves, 2 gaunts and a couple bracers all within an 8 hour camp. The stuff is ungodly for SKs. I'm positive it's going to get nerfed, maybe not the armor itself, but the drop rate.
Its actually lower ac than common things you can buy cheap like the enamelled black bp. The 10 int is really not a big deal for an sk.
Guess it would be good for one still in darkforge and preplanes stuff who was going for look over the highest ac, but I don't see it being so good it would require a nerf. All the sks ive been there with only want it as toys, they are about level 50 plus and already have nearly full planes armor and maybe some blood ember.
The rate was nerfed last patch. We were hunting Sentient Armor in Wakeneing Land last night for four hours, not one peice dropped. Also, I heard from other people that they lowered the drop rate.
actually if you are a big dumb troll like me you do need the INT cause my base INT is 79 plus i got gian scale mail arms so that doesn't help either so yes an SK does need the INT if your an Ogre or a Troll like me
anybody that thinks this armor sucks is one of two things... 1- Someone whos had their planar armor far too long. 2- Some Idiot Paladin that walks in here and thinks that the same lack of useablitie of their mana also applies to sk, which is just not true. This is one of those items id be more inclined to buy for my char. not camp for. I saw a level 9 running around with a full suit 2 days ago, i thought he was 45 or such when i first saw him, then i hit con, and he was green hehe.
