Does armor look different for different classes of the same race? I looked at a dwarf in the fashion table wearing this thing, and it looked nothing like my dwarf rogue. On my rogue, it looks like a cheap rip off of sarnak emblazened tabard. Very disapointed.
go to the everquest file on your hard drive and open the eqclient file. change the armor ones near the top of the page (word describing them escapes me, its late here) and change value on all from false to true

Posted:Jul 15 2001 at 12:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Just wanted to know if anyone would have any pally gear like 250 and below with ok stats thanks for your time
As i was hunting in Everfrost I saw I guy selling this.....he was a high level and said that if i gave him 650p it was mine....in my opinion this is a geart BP and should be worhth more then ave cost...just look at the stats, but who cares either way i got a sweet deal
This is a nice upgrade for my Half Elf Pally. I got this to replace my Charred Guardian BP(better AC, more Str, plus Mana!), but as a Half Elf I am VERY disappointed! I looked at every other race wearing this and was impressed, but on Half Elves it looks like Leather! Or at best a Tizmak Tunic! I couldn't believe it. And before anyone flames me, YES, I do have all my Armors set to TRUE in the EQClient file. Unfortunately, it is SUPPOSED to look like crap on a Half Elf. And of course, as soon as I put it on, people started begging me for ports and SoW's! What an insult to a Paladin! Well, this one is going in the bank to sell. As a race, I urge all of you Half Elves out there to send Verant a great big /rude for ripping us off on this one!
For those of you who are fashion conscious, remember to use the FASHION TABLES wonderfully provided by Allakhazam, on the left side of the page. Look under <EQUIPMENT> the move that eyeball 6 lines down to -you guessed it- <Fashion Tables...>
And with regards to BeodinHammerhand... i know what you mean. It's true, hlaf elves look all wonky in Ry'Gorr... no resplendent royal looking Gold chain like humans or sleek dark red flame emblazoned like Dark elves,... ours looks like cheesy studded leather. Half-elves wearing the plate helm look like a Batman ripoff. I saw this bard wearing Lambant and some rare no longer dropped Rubicite armr... with his blue "super hero mask" helm and his Red/Blue combination and running like the wind.. he looked like SpiderMan running away from something. LOL imagine if he was wearing full rubicite or any other red colored plate armr, he'd look like The Flash if he was Accelerando-ing on some Mistmoore drums!
Fact. Monks Are Already The Highest Damage output in the game & the best mob pullers.
Fact. Monks Can FD & avoid lots of nasty Deaths.
You want to have the best ac now too??? Well I tell you what When you get them to get my warrior a full set of Heal spells , SOW & Porting abbilities I will personally go to Verant & Petition them to get you the best armor around!
FYI, monks are incredible for pulling because of their feign death ability. If they happen to overpull, for example, they just feign death and a train can be avoided.
If a ranger overpulls, not only does the party have a train headed their way but rangers are not very good damage takers. Half the group's hp and mana will be wasted just trying to agro the other mobs off and keep the ranger alive. In doing so it is often difficult to get the group fighting as a unit again since the agro will be all over the place.
Harmony is a gamble at best. If it fails there is a good chance the mob will agro on you. I know this because I'm a paladin and use the lull line of spells.
Ranger damage spells can be used for pulling but are in general pretty weak. The same train possibility applies.
Snare can be used for pulling and is pretty useful. The only danger here is that in tight areas or rapid spawn dungeons, snare can increase the chances of a wanderer adding on. Sometimes an add mob is only out of agro range for a few seconds while you pull your intended. A rare situation but it does come up.
All in all, Rangers aren't that great as pullers. They are okay. The main reason for this is because by pulling they gain the agro and some amount of effort (and often confusion) will be required to pull the mob off the ranger. They are great for backing up a puller though, typically by snaring an incoming mob after the main puller gets its attention.
Monks do the job indoors or in dungeons, we do the job in ie: Karana's, Ot large outdoor spaces. And we don't dot as good as druids or sk, necs. And if we want agro: Snare, taunt, flamelick, taunt (in the mean time auto attack), reaply if nescesary.
Saying that a given class is the best puller based on those reasons id the sign of a someone tat dose not know there class well.
Rangers have a verry low defense & a verry high taunt. Snaring a mob will almost definately switch the aggro to you. So now you have become a mana sponge. The cleric will have to waste a lot more mana to keep you healed then to keep a warroir of monk healed.
As for harmony...Well that only works outdoors so what are you going to do in an indoor dungon? You can not split pull a mob with fd like a monk can you? No. Ok so you could root one & pull the add to you group. Well resists happen & when the root breaks guess who the mob is going to come after? You! So seeing as you would have propably built up lots of aggro on the add mob you now have 2 mobs beating you down & your cleric is really wasting mana on you.
Debuffs & dots. Well any group with a caster of any type is going to have way better debuffs & dots than you can cast so don't waste the mana.
Ranged damage. While this great for bowkiting & soloing & a great way to pull to a group without taking damage. I do not see this as making rangers/druid better pullers. I see no point in this.
So the bottom line is that Rangers & definately Druids are not the best pullers in the game. If I am grouped I always have a warrior or monk pull befor me. It is better overall for the group getting xp & keeping you alive.
Rangers getting too much aggro & people not being able to keep themselves from getting killed as a ranger is the biggest reason that rangers are chosen second over a true tank in the high level game. Rangers do get an agro reducing spell at high level that helps this problem but If I am in a indoor 40+ dungon I pray thatI am not the puller.
Having a 35 druid I can honestly say that we don't do that well as pullers. I solo most of the time but when I am in a group the monky or tank does the pulling. Once they got the pull I will snare (root just isn't good enough...breaks when the mob gets hit too hard) then DoT and if there is no cleric...I sit and med while watching the life bars of my comrades so I can build mana back for heals and regen and sow.
Well we have Grasping Roots for a reason. I use it all the time to swap the aggro. Once I pull something to the tanks, I root it then back up behind the tank but within melee. This keeps the mob on whomever is closer.
Sure, you'll say that spell breaks easily, but it is mana cheap and fast casting.
Throughout any fight, If i am taking too much damage even as main tank, and I want to switch aggro, Grasp away and step back a bit. Works all the time. I rarely have that resisted.
During a fight I do the following Flame lick for fast pulls or snare for slow pulls Run back then Do the spell above I did not cast. Root, back up a bit then melee. Reapply as required

Maybe with luclin we'll see some leather based items with nifty looks for monks that have decent stats. Maybe even some low level stuff for the young monks a-yerning

Man, monks go through there whole existence without that much gear available, so every time an item comes out with lower weight the monks start drooling... At least monks still have the strength to wear lots of armor.. You should be a dark elf shadowknight.. with their strength they have problems wearing their own class armor. Yes I'm aware of the bonus available to monks if they keep their weight down, but that's the point, it's a bonus... you make the decision whether you would rather have that bonus or more ac... it's the same idea with the monk weapons, you either want to stay light-weight or you want to hit for more damage.. you make the choice.. you can't have your cake and eat it too. And don't forget this is a role-playing game.. What monk/martial arts type have you ever seen wearing heavy chain or plate armor? Just because a fungi tunic looks like chain does not make it chain.. However this specifically says "Battle Mail" meaning it is a heavy chain type armor. Quit whining and go find something you can wear.
Lemme get this right. Monks are like those Shaolin guys yes? Master martial artists. I myself have been practicing Kung Fu for some time, and let me tell you, WHY THE HECK would I want to wear armor? It hinders any movement. Even clothing. I always wear very short sleeved shirts and my pants have to be ample for legs freedom. Obviously, some people have no understanding of the world surrounding them, which is sad. Let me put it like this. Take for example, aluminum Full Plate (there is none in EQ duh, just in case some $/"%/ decides to flame me), it would be pretty light no? In fact, it would be feather light. Ok, still, a plate is something large, its rigid, hence, will hinder freedom of movement, even if it is LIGHT. Now, what a monk needs to be efficient is freedom of movement. Lightweight is ALSO a fact, but not the ONLY ONE. That is why monks cannot and DON'T want to wear anything more than some type of leather armor (and VI was very nice to allow leather, cause I would not). Some people just suck. As for VI, well, they suck as well. If monks were to be like the real thing, lvl 60 monks couldnt be hit but by the quickest attacks, backstabs and AE spells. Monks rely on quickness more than armor to evade attacks. Armor is therefore NOT essential. Im sick of hearing monks cry about that stuff. Waste your monk if you dont like it. Monks DO NOT WANT TO WEAR ARMOR!

A lvl 45 druid and myself, a lvl 50 necro, went to the orc fort, as we knew the chief was dying to give us his breastplate. The chief did hit for 172 and went down easily enough. Since he was under the restraints of fear, he ended up outside the surrounding barrier for the fort before falling over. Promptly after looting the battle mail off the Chief, I sat down to med and beam at our luck. The death of the chief seems to have an afterdeath affect as we were slain by Ry'Gorr Avengers. I assume they are linked to his death and hit for 172 like the chief and come in a mob squad. I had 3 on me and went too fast to get the total count myself but the druid said there were 4 on my pet til I died and all turned to her.

Alrdy this beats a ivy etched tunic. The ac is the most important stat here and its average but put in that 10str and all rangers without darkwood bp, thorny vine bp, or treeweave should own it. Also has 20mana which adds to mana total for paladins, rangers, clerics, shadowknights, shaman. Then you get into the 5vs poison-if you have played eq long enough you know how helpful resists are. Then the final decsion as to the worth of this is the fact that is looks very cool when worn. This is why so many rangers us this 18ac, 10str, 20mana, 5vs posion over a Treeweave 25ac 10str. Treeweave looks like leather, while this has its own unique look. Now as to the 2kpp thing, I know I said earlier it was worth 2kpp but on my server ct It never goes anywhere near this. Id say more like 1kpp to 1.5kpp for the worth of it. I just bought one for my sk dark elf. Traded a Giant milita tunic, dwarven sap and raven scale legs. Anyways it looks so cool on dark elfs

It does. You have to change the graphics options to true. It's in your Everquest folder on your drive. Also, look at posts further down. they will tell you where exactly to look.
The drop rate went down for all Ry'Gorr armor after the latest patch.. Trust me it used to be you could camp the orcs and walk away witha full set of Ry'Gorr to in clude this and other various drops off of the Orc mobs. Now 2 days and I have seen 2 spears 3 BP's 1 neck piece and1 set of legs. These are no longer "common". On the up side Firebrand seemed to have alot of the Gauntlets of the Black. w00t
