Iron Bound Tome  

 

115 Dark Elf Warrior cannot use this. Can equip it, but is yellow'd out in gear window. Very strange

My shammyis wearing it and for some reason i think it debuffs SOW on me when im in battle, i dont fight much, but i do alot of soloing for trade skills and i lose sow when it procs...am i crazy? or is this really happening?(SOW is ussually my only buff on.)

What lvl u have to be for the Cancel Magic to Proc?

As a shaman in my lower 50's before I got a bunch of uber high end ac items... I wielded this just for the 6ac to go over 900ac. Now at 56 with self buffs I am at 966ac and going for 1000, I may wield it again just to do so when I am casting only and only if it puts me over the 1000ac mark. Not to mention the saves aren't that shabby to put me over 1000ac. Plus it makes people wonder what the heck is that book that uber green chested lizard has. Obviously not a testament of vaneer since I am kos there :)

My troll shaman has this as her primary melee weapon. It may have a bit more delay, but she smacks the hell out of monsters with it, and it looks hilarious.

There are few things funnier than a big green troll with a huge book in her hand whacking the snot out of monsters.

As has been stated below, this item is not intended as a melee weapon so much as it is intended to complete a quest. The leggings that are received upon completion of the quest are:

ok I was given this item by a random person and I can't seem to auction it off at any price. No one wants to buy a melee tome for 1k :P

so I was considering actually making an iksar to do this quest and then just auction off the leggings. However I can't seem to find any Stats on the Leggings anywhere. Has anyone actually done this quest? Are the Leggings No Drop? if anyone can, please post the stats for these leggings.

I was surprised that it is not in the description, and nobody mentioned the real use for this book. From my point of view anyway, Since this book is the primary quest component for the Trooper Scale leggings, WAR/IKSAR only quest armor, It seems to me to be for that. There is some boring story line you get from doing the quest about how the book was lost or stolen and the Iksars want it back and how it is a magic book and so on.

This is one of the few armor quest items for (any) class that are NOT no-drop. You just buy the book off someone who has it, turn it in with some other items (store bought in town) and the Trooper Leggings are yours. Any Iksar can do the quest, but only Iksar wars can wear the leggings. You get good faction and pretty good exp for your troubles.

Here is what I consider key here: Iksars cannot wear plate armor and so at this comparable lvl, they have to have imbued cabilis scale leggings made by a high lvl master smith with the right ingredients to make the tempers and imbued gem; or they can auction to buy some other very expensive leggings. I paid 700pp and a forest loop for a Iron bound tome, just so that i could turn it in for my leggings that I still wear at 46th lvl and will prob wear for a while to come.

So if you get this book and are looking to sell it first try a "/who all iksar war 20 40" and find a buyer who needs the leggings. I had to auction for a long time to get a seller and never did. I had to hire a mercenary (54 necro) to come to LOIO zone and kill the advisor for me to get my book. The Advisor spawns next to the chancellor spawn, and is not too common of a spawn, and does not always have the book. My merc. camped the throne room while I hunted around lake ill omen stuff for experience and when the advisor was assisinated I paid off the necro, got my loot, and we both went on our ways.

i have never seen a book weighing in at 12 stones, must make an awesome weapon :)
