I woudl still eblieve that with a trueshot disc and a very high end bow, you woudl do mroe damage than dual wielding, especially if you ahd haste, due to teh fact that soem of the fabled haste items which are now available would higly reduce bow delay and if you could crit every tiem for around 1.2ish which is every secodn compared to occasional melee crits.
only if the mob was moving around and you had to chase it to keep hitting it. multiple parses have shown that (especially now with innate triple attack) uqua/tacvi+ weaps will outparse even trueshot.
They really need to fix that. There was a day not too long ago when ranger bow damage owned their melee output. It's still quite handy on the few raids where range damage is a must (Carprin Deatharn cycle, Tallon Zek, etc.) but it's kind of sad to think of the master of archers as... well... not even using their master trade for anything more than kiting.
TS (if not exactly, then very nearly) doubles damage from archery. So he'd have a max without TS of about 1350 crits. However i've found TS to do a little more that double damage, so I'd guess around 1250/1300.
Call me crazy but wasn't the whole fun of being a ranger to use a bow??? Now there are many times where meleeing is bound to be better like tight camps and dungeon crawls.. But really.. The reason I became a ranger was cause I wanted to shoot stuff.. You know.. You set up your old GI Joes and blast em with a BB gun after you outgrew em.. WTF!!! If I wanted to melee all the time I could be a warrior, SK, Pally, Bezerker, BST, or even a bard.. Of course I'm gonna use what puts out more damage and be the best tool I can for my guild but for the love of Tunare give me my BOW back!! A few new archery AA... A bow epic... SOMETHING!! Why should 1HS be made the primary DPS for a class that built in the range section... you know "range" ..... short for "ranger".. but that's just me I guess
uhh actually monks are masters of dual wield. not just do they get it before everyone else but they arent restricted to the 5 +5/lvl cap that all other classes have for other skills.
so, they give us AAs geared to archery like headshot flaming/freezing arrow, discs that improve our archery, a line of spells that boost archery, and want us to use 2 1h weapons instead?! wtf, call me stupid, i don't get it. And i'm not high end, so if in fact dualwielding does produce better damage, then why buy all thoes archery AAs, sounds like a waste of time.
Ok so heres my question. Max crit for the BotT is 2450. with a 44 dmg. The only bow that "had" more dmg what a quest bow in the PoSky with a 100dly so ofcorse it wasnt being used. Now with this 49 dmg bow do crits go past 2450? Ive NEVER seen a crit for a ranger break that.
Yes, this would crit for over 10% more than that 44 damage bow. With the skill caps raised and the new Shaman spell that can give you over 400 Dex, a Ranger could crit for a ton with this bow. Easily the nicest bow in the game found to date.
Maybe someday I'll be level 70 and in a guild strong enough to get it ;)
Great rang slot item. and great ratio for the occasional raid mob TS is usefull on. Glad my guild is doin rs atm and hope i get one lol. But would certainly not switch to bow over dualwield in general-p
Yeah seriously, they should make this thing 70/38 (or something slightly better than 1hs dps, that was just a guess) so that high end rangers would have something to think about. Heh guess we can't have rangers using bows......
That was my suggestion in the Epic 2.0 Thread.. Unless the Epic Morphs into a Bow they can keep it as I would rather use my Bow or a 2 Hander then another freaking 1hs that will only be used in Ldon crawls or Old world zones where I can actually pretend that they rule.. Otherwise you will just waste a lot of time for another trophy weapon that will most likely decorate your bank..
It was said by SoE that they do not want archery to be the primary source of combat. They want us to use dual wielding at most, if not, all times. That is why our epic 2.0 was changed from a bow to a sword, because the ranger community wanted to know which they should be using, and SoE anwered with dual wielding.
and i agree with them, Dual Wielding is much better dps than a bow anymore. Only time i use bow is on raids and thats mostly on named mobs...because stray arrows in Uqua is BAAAAD. so assist the MA and melee the mobs, they drop so fast it doesnt matter anyways
with ts the othere night i crit for 4328 using this bow , a few other people in group had used there epic clickies , im sure thats what made it higher then ive ever seen, but hell im happy
