if any warrior HAS this weap and uses it for MT'ing, mind offering any feedback? the ratio is deffinitely nice as are the stats, but looking for a critique on the aggro produced by the proc-- is it comprable to a stun or debuff or whatnot? and is the procrate decent or disapointing?
I (65 warrior) use this auged with anger 3 and a BoC with anger 2 in offhand, the proc seems to produce a fair amount of aggro, nothing spectacular, does seem to proc a lot even before i got WA, too bad it doesnt have a better look lol oh well.
In regards to Bards getting agro, I can tell you that it's *nearly* impossible for me to get agro. I can pull with debuff, snare, and slow, beat on the mob for a little bit and a Pally can take agro from me by just casting cease on the mob. I've dual weilded proc'n weapons, been fully hasted, and have some points in double attack and ambidexterity and no matter how hard I try I've yet to pull agro from anybody. The only time I get hit is from riposte or if the MT gets out of the range of the mob. I think anything that helps raise a Bards dps would be great, and this weapon would help greatly.
I've lost aggro on my 65 bard to a lv 40 ranger once. I had been kiting the mob, the ranger shot one arrow and had aggro. I got this weapon the other day for my bard and it's proced at least 10 times since. Not once has that proc brought me aggro.
Also fair warning, this weapons graphic SUCKS. It's a big toothpick.

Noone really complains about note being able to get aggro off te MT... it's keeping aggro over the cleric etc when the tank dies. For some reason people would like the plate class guy with better mitigation tanking over those wizards, clerics, and rogues...
There's not a single class out there that can't take aggro from me EASY.
Last time I tried, I had to drop a mob 5-10% before a shammy can slow without me drawing aggro, and that was back when my targeted dots actually made aggro (the aggro off them has since been nerfed into oblivion), and if they crippled they were gonna have to tank until I had the mob down to 25%. That's we me alone doing damage, no dogdog, no other people there.
Dude, they're not complaining. They're just saying how it is for bards. We don't have to worry that a weapon like this will steal aggro. It takes a lot of effort to hold aggro for a bard, we won't get it from melee that's for sure.
Lanth , You're a regular Albert Einstien bro. My post was , Nice bard weapon. And you flame me ? Get a clue. Bard's generate pretty much ZERO aggro melee wise. Regardless of what weapon's they use. Bard's just have no aggro capabilities when it comes to our weapons. We can hold aggro off equally equipped tanks if need be but , just like Rappapart said , most of the time we are makin everyone else look good with group songs. Of ALL melee classes , this weapon would produce the least amount of problems for a bard. And becuase our melee blows , having a 200 dd proc ( 400 crit ~ ) would make our dps a little more valuable. Thanks , have a great day. Go look in a mirror then flame someone ***. Cheer's for Rappapart.
Sounds like you need to find a new combo. If you are stealing agro. I bet you dont use that combo on raid mobs. lol.. IF you did. Well, you know. Death!!
My ranger wields this as primary... And I love my toothpick!
I have very little trouble with aggro when the meatshield is an experienced elemental/time geared warrior or reasonably well equipped and competent knight. Clueless pl'd warriors in pickups groups with no anger/eb items are a different story, but I'd peel mobs off them wielding fine steel - it's kinda hard not to if you're oor anytime you try to stand behind them...
My offhand is a Stone Etched Mallet which procs rune 2, also considered a high aggro proc. Aggro theft is a non-issue for me. Of course.. our raids usually have skilled, well equipped tanks who are very good at generating hate, and there are not to many Warriors doing Earth and Fire XP groups who don't have a few nice hate makers in their bags. Your mileage may vary, adjust to your tank.. Bag something not quite so nasty for those times your tank just plain sucks. Pulling out Swiftwind or your old Honorable Longsword is always a nice subtle way to tell your tank what you think of them.
You have to be reasonable about it and employ normal aggro control tools (delayed engage, proper melee range, spaced nuking, and due consideration for anything you snared or pulled) - and you need tanks who know that there's more to holding aggro than smacking the mob around a little. But at this level of the game (I expect this to be farmed by elemental raid forces, though some VT/Tier 3 forces might could pull it off), you know how to manage hate and have some decent meatshields to hide behind - or you'll die all the time no matter what weapons you have.
As for the Stave... It makes a great DPS weapon alternative to many of the equivelent or marginally better elementals weapons, which haven't dropped as often as I'd like. Based on my experience tanking with the toothpick, I would not recommend it for a Warrior except as a DPS/Secondary tool - easily available Obsidian Shatter weapons are much better for 1H hate generation. The stave would be decent with an Anger aug if nothing better (read: +hate/stun/debuff proc) is available, but really is not a first choice for pissing mobs off.

well equipped rangers with the right AAs and weapons can outdamage archery with melee. IT's pretty far from double-triple unless you're comparing dps with trueshot up to melee with very poor melee weapons.
Sounds like you two need to switch out your weapons. So, you are not taking the TANKS agro. He the tank no you. A ranger or Beast Lord stealing agro with just get you all killed.
tho ( guess ill post here too ) you too, are wrong. rangers and beastlords can tank just fine up until ep named ++ and on. meny a time where beastlord and rangers have tanked for ep grind groups, and everything below that. as for them tanking ep/time/GoD bosses ( or even GoD normal trash ) i wouldnt recomend it.
Agree with you 100%. I play a Beastlord and quite often wind up tanking in LDoN/Sol Ro and Elemental pick-up groups. Anything that would give me some extra aggro since I have only my initial slow and possibly a dot to generate aggro with. It would be a nice weapon to have in my bag for use when appropriate.

High Aggro weapons on a bard dont matter. A fully hasted bard will atk at the same speed as an unhasted warrior.. No double atk (until aa, and limited double atk at that), means half the normal hate generated.
Hate inducing weapons on a bard are asking for trouble tho. As a bard I have used CHOS and Sword of the Bloodsworn (Together or seperate once Epiced) and never pulled aggro off a tank. Using a BOC, on the other hand is just suicide. Bards can offset our position on the hate list in a few ways.. One is normal melee combat (we are on bottom of list unless we are chain dotting the big 4, which imo is detrimental becuase you are then not singing the group songs. Second is by singing our hate reducing song. Final is by slapping the Fade button, which completely removes us from the list.
If a bard is getting aggro, it is proximity aggro or add aggro because we are singing group buff songs, as soon as any other melees start smacking the mob, they will turn on them.
It doesn't matter how often you swing a weapon with an agro proc, its all about how often you proc, and as thats mostly random if a bard or ranger or monk proc more then the warrior then im afraid its tough cookie for you, dont complain when you get hit, not everyone can be time equipped in this game.
Been using this for a couple of days, the proc is definitely aggy inducing. Mobs DO not like to be hit with it. This would be a useful weapon for a defensive tank class if you didn't have better.
