From what I could make out, the Berserker "Final Task" weapons are designed to give a true "new" character an advantage against the monster types they'd be most likely to be fighting for the next few levels after gaining the weapon. The dmg/delay numbers are the same on all weapons, but each has a +3 Bane to a different category. Barbs get Gnoll (for Blackburrow), Ogres get Lizardman, Trolls have Orc Bane, Vah Shir got Tegi (the "alien" guys), and Dwarves get Goblin.

Of course, the higher delay doesn't make this such a great weapon for building skill. For skilling 2HS, the newbie axe (at only 31 Delay)is going to be your best bet for a while unless you have a bunch of cash to spend. Plus, until you hit level 20, the damage cap will make some of the weapons with high dmg/delay but good ratios WORSE, since you can't hit for the full damage, but you still have the full Delay between swings.

Of course, if you're PL'ing and spending a bunch of platinum on gear, this isn't as big a deal, but for someone who's making their first character on a given server and isn't paying RL cash for plat/gear it's VERY good to keep in mind.

its not the fact that it sucks.any newbie would be proud to own this axe just because its something they acomplished.if you got an erring of the soltice, and you got all the items by yourself, you would feal good about it. for newbs they are the same just with alot lesser value items.
ehh

I know its a newbie quest, but still that is pretty bad stats. By the time you could get this weapon even as a true untwinked newbie, you could have saved up 10pp and bought a crystaline 2h sword, or axe of the iron back, etc.

As for the Newbie quested armor, that is good stuff considering the whole risk/reward/time.

You are of course assuming that one of these weapons is AVAILABLE at the time and priced where said newbie could buy it. :)

pure crap

The axe you start the game with has a better ratio unless you are fighting a goblin. I mean, how stupid are the people making this stuff? Make an upgrade better. Elementary.

That's amazing, considering it's a quest reward. What exactly did you kill with your Necro that dropped this?

:P~~~

Yeah

THis one's pretty much just like the Vah SHir berzerker newbie weapon. I think barbs got the best axe of them all, but I'm still looking to compare.
Look?

Well this weapon sure doesnt have such great ratio .. but does it look cool? =P

No - the newbie axe does not look very different from the dull axe dwarven beserkers start with.

I had this axe made for my berserker (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=402) and that looks nice. I have gotten a few comments about it.
Not that bad if you think about it.

A magic item usually costs a lot o plat... from what I've seen anyway... or you can go and kill some stuff as you level up and turn in to get a free magic weapon. I wouldn't use it as a primary weapon, but good to keep on ya just in case I see a willo'wisp fly by or something. Kicking it with my newbie boots is way worse DPS and ratio.
Multi-quest
# Feb 13 2004 at 5:10 PM Rating: Decent
Note that this can be multi-quested. I bonked a pair of rats with my mid-50s Druid and had my little level 8 Berserker loot the pelts. I then sent him off to get noobie-ported back to Kaladim while I hunted down the other pelts. The Druid turned in his pair (receiving no response from the quest npc) and then the little guy turned in his pair and he got the axe.
