Just MQed this by doing turnin of Tainted BP by my Rogue, logged out, logged in Paladin and did turnin of Pure Crystal to get Gleaming Crested BP.

Do you get this OR the Pally epic from the quest? or Both?
Read the quest write up for the Epic. There you will find that by turning in the Tainted Darksteel Breastplate from hate and the Pure crystal from Kaladim to Reklon Gnallen in Erudin you get this BP.
Later on you turn it in at Irak Altil in Plane of Fear to get the Fiery Defender, your Epic Weapon, all funny hilt without flames ( unless you buy a Zippo as well to light it )

The item that is turned into this breastplate is dropped in Plane of Hate, off a Thought Corrupter.
As a druid who looted it the item would be useless to me BUT I can multiquest it to one of my paladin brethern by turning it in first to the npc in erudin and then the worthy paladin turning in the gem to purify it.
And no, I don't expect any paladin to wear it seriously, but its for epic turn in eventually, and that IS worth the trouble of getting/saving it on my part. The Tainted Darksteel Breastplate should never be left to rot in Hate even if no paladin is present to claim it.

Dumbass, it's a quest component.
So what if the stats on the BP are bad? We don't wear it, we use it to get our Epic, the Fiery Defender. 'Course the only tormented spirits I've ever seen are in Paineel so it may be hard to free it as part of the epic (Paineel folks don't like Pallies :) ). Though by the time I'm high enough level to actually do the quest, my guild will be uber enough to get me into the Necro guild, where it spawns...

I just acquired the Gleaming Crested Breastplate and it seems there are new stats for it. AC is now 20 and it gives +30 hps and wearable by only paladins.
