It is used in Troll cultural smithing. Once made into a "worked orb", it can be used to craft 4 types of secondary-slot caster items: darkly pulsing orb (no deity restriction), hateful darkly pulsing orb (inny only), fearful darkly pulsing orb (cazic only), and vengeful darkly pulsing orb (rallos only - even though there are no rallos int casters! /boggle).
I just got a shimmering orb while farming froglok eyes, and i want one of these smithed orbs! The inny orb has the best stats imo, but alas, I worship bertoxx, oh well.......

My girlfriends Enchanter was camping the Scryer in Lower Guk for a quest and was lucky enough to have one of these drop along w/ the items she needed. Unfortunatly, neither of us need this for any of our chars, but it is a very nice AC booster.
BTW.... if anyone plays on Tunare and wants one of these give Kelari or Kirus a tell

used to make darkly pulsing orb. Is a nice piece of gear if you can get a troll to make it for you.

This thing should be all all i think, that would be awsome, just looks wise its up there with velium round shield man! that and some wicker armor on a druid would be the best looking character ever!
Not sure if you were kidding or not heheh, for the level you get this at its better to get atestament of vanear for druids anyways, and 20+ druids dont really need all the ac, you should concentrate on wisdom, maybe its a good thing druids cant use this.
i agree most of the items in guk are for level 5s With the expecptioin of the warden and the acs Drops Put a little work and get some str wis on int Gear

the AC comes in handy during those times when a caster nukes, mezzes or debuffs the mob and pulls aggro. it can be hard for a low- or mid-level caster to get AC up.

This was my second *twink* on my first character in the game! I was about lvl 7 Iksar Necro, selling Bone Chips to a lvl 39 Necro when I just asked: Got anything to help out a bit if a newbie? A minute later I was at the bank in Cab with a few int items and this great item. Hey, AC is not the cheapest to get and easy to find for Necros (but I am learning...) and it has definitely helped this character get to lvl 14.
Thanks, again, to the character who gave it to me (I know better to actually keep track of names now...)
Now, onto the look. When you see my character, currently in robes, there is a pulsing glow coming from the side of my arm where I hold the item. Kinda looks like a pulsing forcefield. I think this item is pretty cool...

The orb provides a decent shield and a nice ac boost. Well worth the 200 pp.
