Recommended level, means the stats lower if your lower than the recommended. That aside..
/rant on "the stats being good up to late twenties.." Have you ever played non-twinked? Centi Shortsword, a sword worse than this, drops in a 45+ zone. I swear people are going insane... If a weapon drops off a certain level of mob, its meant to be used at that level. If it has a recommended level, its definately supposed to be used at that level.
"Your level 10 warrior is wielding a fine steel longsword? You cant kill orcs with us. Come back when you have a swiftblade or atleast a yak."
What is the game coming to, where the newbies out there don't know how to earn a single thing for themselves?

This sword is extreamly nice, for just about any of the listed classes. Okay ratio, resists, mana and hp. Possibly a bard group weapon. Could be an ok off hander for a warrior, maybe. Maybe resist gear off hander. On Stromm, your likely to see any melee roll on this. If not for his own use, then maybe to sell it to upgrade his crusty breastplate.

YOU HAD A FS LONGSWORD AT lvl 10 man i was still using me tarnished short sword. 12 21 "up to lvl the twenties" sheesh my main who is lvl 46 is wielding a 12 25 ok so shoove off man.

IMO, recommended levels keep people going back to the old zones that are almost empty anymore to get the old good stuff that never had recommended levels applied.
I mean honestly... if you don't like it, they have a newbie server for you where this shouldn't run so rampant.

He is right....im peeved; what he says is true in RL (that thing outside EQ). When i was a boy, we had to grow our food in a garden. Now 12 year olds are running around with loaves of bread and bags of fresh produce. Nevermind they somehow earned the money to pay for it, i had to grow those veggies and bake that bread by hand. Grrr, "what?? you grow your own corn, bah! come back with some Pringles and Cheese Dip" Whats this world coming to? /rant off

I Agree with dembark im using a barnacle bladed axe and this would be an upgrade for me. sure im a little low compared to most but to say that this is a 20s item then you dont know old school EQ.

I Agree! I've played this damn game for four years! FOUR! Yeah, ever since it came out and you know what, it is still good but it was better in the olden days when people just tried to enjoy themselves. The game has turned into an equipment rush with powers 20 times better than what is needed for the old world Naggy or Vox. I mean come on, what happened to the GAME of it? Twinking a character and getting it to 65 in 2 months cuz he had 65 at the beggining is not playing a game, its using a game against its self. If you critisize newbs for their gear or dont let them join some special group or guild, your not a real player and your just a piece of crap that shouldn't play. Thats my 2cts and its the right 2cts cuz I've been here from the start.

Damn tootin! Had that old RTS until level 30 bacause ya couldnt get anything better for less than 10k (1mill $ k now). Took all day to make 5 pp then ya ate half of it!
