Runes are no drop, so is the finished cloak. I would have to say the only way you could do this is to camp your wizzy near the mobs that drop the runes, let the ranger kill them, camp the ranger, bring wizzy online and loot runes with wizzy. The Lizardscale cloak is not no drop, so you can put it in shared bank slot or buy it in bazaar. Once the wizzy has all three runes and the cloak, he makes the turn in and gets the no drop cloak. :)

What is the deal with losing 3 points of AC and all of the dex from the lizardscale cloak to the runescale.
Lizzy = AC8 +5 DEX
Runescale = AC5 +3agi +3int and +5 svp/d

I like the int increase but I am confused why the decrease ac.

AC isn't that important to a Wizard. First off, Wizards don't melee, unless they'er just plain stupid. You will never have the Hit Points to stand there and get hit. Second, since Wizards are an Int based Character, the Int will help you more in the long run than any amount of AC, since like was stated in reason 1, Wizards don't tank. Third, and best reason of all, the AC loss is made up for by the adition of +3 to Agility. And 4th, Dex isn't an important enough stat for a caster, so it gets switched to the +3 Agi.

Actually, DEX is important to a caster. You don't fizzle as much with higher DEX.

I just look at it as you are altering the item to add some stats, so that takes away from others. For a wizard, the runecloak is a great item to have. We are also used to items not having high ac so it's ok for us.

I suppose for a shadow knight, the lizardscale cloak is better. But since you can't wear the runecloak, it doens't matter really.

Cazic Thul now seems to be a high level dungeon, anyone know whre the new cloak drops? or if it still drops there? thanks.

The name of the mob it drops off of in the Feerrott is the Tae Ew Templar.

Some friends and I have been camping this place for 2 weeks now. Never seen this cloak and I need it as well. Does it still exist?
RE: Cazic
# Apr 08 2002 at 6:55 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, Cazic Thule is now a high level dungeon but the old items still drop outside. Most of the items still drop off of the same mob that they dropped from previously. They are on the temples outside of the zone in the Feerott. Not sure of the name of the mob it drops off of. Was camping three or four of the temples and a friend looted one so I know they still drop.

Hope this helps some.

I got the first rune off the DW Croc in oasis with no problem. Made lvl 20 and thought I'd go and see if anyone was in LavaStorm. Did a shout as to the spawn location of the LavaCroc. Lo and behold, a kind druid sowed me and showed me the location. Asking me why I needed to know I explained to him I needed the rune for the runescale cloak quest. Well let me tell you, he laid right in and killed it. My best spells were resisted so I sat back. After the death of the croc, there was a rune on it, 2 down 1 to go. Off to GUK, was just as easy. I got in and shouted "Is AC camped?", of course it was, so I asked in a tell if I might loot a saltwater for the rune for my quest. Yes was the answer and I attempted to make my way in the back. Getting lost once and dying getting there. After getting my corpse, I made it to the AC and looted a salt, got the rune and gated out. Off to CT, now just hoping someone had a lizardscale for sell. Nope. Now I'm screaming everywhere, "WTB Lizardscale cloak..send tell" Hopefully I will get the cloak soon. Quest are more enjoyable don't you think?

OK, I did this quest in a single day. I made my way into upper Guk (I would suggest having decent faction with the Frogloks so they do not aggro on you. If your faction is screwed, there are a few ways of fixing it, otherwise you'll be fighting your way in after halfway.)

The saltwater crocs spawn where the Ancient Croc spawns, as said before. And yes, the drop rate on the rune of scale is about 10%. Once I got my rune (after killing atleast 2 dozen saltwater crocs and helping someone who was camping this spot kill the ancient croc), I mem'd my gate spell and got out. I saw no reason in risking my neck by trying to walk back out.

On to Lavastorm I went, having to run through Nektulos Forest invis'd and with my feet blessed by a friendly druid. once in Lavastorm, I headed to the Temple of Solusek Ro, under the advisement of previous posts here. As I faced the entrance to the Temple, I turned to my right and headed due East. This tok me to the Northeast corner of the zone, and sure enough, there was a Firescale Croc just waiting for me. This one was a bit tougher than the other crocs as my most powerful spell at this time was a fire based spell (level 32 wizard) and fire based spells are heavily resisted by this croc. So, I readied my next best spell, being a cold based one, and hit the croc with Enstill. Now, enstill, like root, has a bad habit of resisting and letting up without warning, so I quickly found myself in trouble. I carried my rear back to the Temple for safety while I thought over my plan. After resting and healing I went back to the croc and found that no one else had come along to kill it. I laid in again with enstill and my DD spell, this time things went well and the croc was dead in no time, but I was hurt and out of mana, and the rune didn't drop. Finally 3 crocs and about an hour later, I had my rune and headed to the bank, knowing I had the rune from Oasis kept there.

Ok, I was wrong. Apparently at some point I decided that the rune of scale from Oasis was too easy to get and had destroyed it, so I had to get another. But I also knew that the Rune of Scale dropped off any croc in Oasis, not just the deepwater variety, so after 5 minutes I had my last rune. Now all I needed was the Lizardscale cloak.

Now, being on my own here and knowing I didn't have much of a chance alone in Cazic-Thule, I voted to try and buy the cloak instead. I took 200pp with me and headed to East Commonlands, and within 5 minutes I had my cloak, the final component to the quest. I was off to the Temple of solusek Ro.

Now, a word of advice... As a good aligned character, I tend to find myself having difficulty traveling through Nektulos Forest without getting aggro'd on. So, as a precaution, I bound myself inside the Temple of Solusek Ro when I was there before hunting the Firescale croc. So all I had to do was gate back and I was there. I gave the NPC the 4 components (all have to be given at the same time, this is not a multi quest) and she rewarded me with the Runescale Cloak and a touch of experience.

The quest really wasn't all that difficult, altho I didn't have to hunt for the Lizardscale cloak. But all in all it was fair. As a level 32 wizard I was able to solo each of the 3 crocs, even with a bit of difficulty, and paying 200pp for the Lizardscale cloak didn't hurt me that much, as I had a fair amount of cash by the time I hit 32. and even tho the stats on the Runescale cloak aren't that great, the fact that I did the quest myself, and have something to show for it is enough.

When you can get a Mystic Cloak (AC8/INT5/M.R.5) at around the same level?
Finished Quest
# May 20 2001 at 6:35 PM Rating: Decent
Well I just finished this quest; it was one of three I set out to complete mid way into my life as a wizzy. The staff of the wheel, gem inlaid gauntlets, and this one. This is a good quest, you get a nice item for your trouble. The scale in Oasis is easy; any deepwater croc or deepwater caimen will drop the rune. They are an easy kill. The croc in Lavastorm is a little tougher, he spawns across the north wall (loc is +1300, -680). The croc in Guk is even tougher, because of getting there; it is not the ones that spawn near the front of the zone from the Swamp. No sir. You have to go all the way in the back of the zone, where the Ancient Croc spawns. They are the PH for him. When I was there, someone was camping the AC, I asked them if I could kill the PH's, and get the rune. Of course they said that was ok.

The crocs in Oasis drop the rune about 10% of the time; have been told that the one in Guk drops the same amount (only 10%), I got mine off the second croc that spawned. The croc in Lavastorm is a little better, it drops about 25% of the time, I am told (I got it on the first attempt).

Now the cloak, well this is the tough part of the quest. The TaeEn Templar drops the Lizzardscale cloak; it is the common drop, but it is a very rare spawn. I will be honest, I bought my cloak in EC for 150pp. But I let my ranger wear till I got all the scales. When I looked for another one to outfit my ranger with again, it cost me 300pp. I think that is way too high for the cloak. But I really liked the stats for my ranger, so I bought it anyway. Grrrrrrrr Good luck finishing this quest. I like the cloak, because it is nice having stuff that you quest for that is specific to your class, and being no-drop, makes me feel good when people ask me can I see stats - I just smile and say "Sorry - wizzy only, no-drop."

The third rune
# May 16 2001 at 5:38 AM Rating: Default
the third rune your looking for is on a croc that spawns in the NE corner of the lavastorm zone he has a fixed spawn point and doesnt leave it
Forgot to mention...

This is not a Multi-quest. Even though Runes are LORE you can carry ones from the different zones. I am currently carring 2 of them (Guk and Oasis).

Tried to Multi-quest and she told me that Sol Ro does not do partial quests.

So all 4 items must be turned in at the same time.
Runes
# May 13 2001 at 4:47 PM Rating: Decent
I did this most of this quest in 1 day (about 2 hours). The runes must be gathered from all 3 zones (Guk, Oasis, and Lavastorm). I currently have 2 runes from Guk and Oasis and I am attempting to location where to get the 3rd rune from (Some kind of lava croc i am guessing).

Guk: Comes from a Saltwater croc - Place holder for the Ancient Croc.

Oasis: Comes from Deep Water Crocs (also DW Caimens - from what i was told).

Lavastorm: Yet to find.

Lizardscale cloak can be purchased for 200pp. Thats the price I paid for mine. :)

So this really does not have to take a long time to complete. And i figured I can sell my Kunzar cloak and recover some of my costs.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 12 2001 at 1:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What a crappy item for the difficulty of the quest, it took me 4 days of fighting to get the lizardscale cloak at level 34. This is one of those forever quests.
