I noticed people below complaining because this cloak doesn't have any fire resist. Of course it doesn't - It is a MOLTEN cloak, meaning it MELTS under FIRE!
Actually this is a preview of this item's stats and description under EQ RPG:
Molten Cloak
Description: The gnomes who stubbornly insist upon remaining within Solusek’s Eye are the creators of this cloak. The magic that permeates that place is surely part of the inducement to risk the fire goblins and worse creatures of the tunnels, and it’s the ore mined from the channels of molten lava that is used in tailoring this fabled cloak. Magical properties of the ore keep it in its molten state even when it’s spun into a fine mesh, and thus an ever-changing pattern of swirls appears across the cloak’s surface. Powers: Int +2, Wis +2, cold resistance (3), fire resistance (1). Bonus types: Ability scores = enhancement. Resistances = enhancement. Caster Level: 6th. Market Price: 12,500 gp. Slot: Back. Weight: 2 lbs.
wandered through sol a today, gabbie was up, two retributions and a wrath later, she is down and I am packing my rygorr oracle cloak in a suitcase marked twink. no aggro from the clockworks as I whacked her down, which was unexpected :)

Okay, small wish here for RPers like me, but i wish a cloak named 'molten cloak' would at least have some save vs. fire.
Even +5 sv would be nice to fit the whole theme, plus one would think any garment worn by little low to the ground critters in such a hot place as Sol or Lavastorm would be more flame resistant then most. Otherwise i get a cute image of little goblins being handed their cloaks right after finishing their stop-drop-roll class.
(actually had i named something molten cloak i would have made it a dragon/highend drop item that clicked one of those neat magician spells, but then we'd all be out this admitadly very nice cloak)

This is a GREAT cloak for all WIS based casters. Not bad for Int based caster's who are to low to get the Mystic Cloak which is AC8 +5int 10 charges of SteelSkin.. I was killing the metal beasties the other nite to get Melatite and Dufrenite for my guild to do Totemic and Ro armor quests.. I got 2 cloaks in about 2 hours. And no dufrenite, so I sold 1 cloak and went and had our chanter buy a butt load of Dufrenite.. hehe.. Anywho, on the Trib these sell from 1300 to 2k.. Depends on how diligent you are in not takin the low ball offers.. If I had a wis caster this would be the cloak I would want.. But like I said for Int casters.. The mystic cloak is much nicer..
You all cry about price and compare to Mammoth Hide Cloak. First off I see this cloak going for 3K all the time. Remember, It's ALL/ALL. No restrictions there! The camp isnt that long. I got 4 cloaks in 8 hours. The camp is butt *** easy!! You're paying for versatility! Anyone can use this cloak. Don't even compare to Mammoth though. Different Cloak entirely. But if you must, then the Mammoth and the Molten both can be had for 2K. You MIGHT get a Mammoth for 1500 if the guys real nice, real high level and doesnt need it for his twink. If you get a Molten for under, it's cause the seller needs cash bad!!
I got mine for 1200pp. No haggling. I was auctionning for one, then this guys tells me he has one for sale. He said 1200pp no less. I said deal, expecting to pay around 2000-2500pp. I guess I was lucky.
at the time of camping, a lvl49 necro, this camp was expected to be easy. Casted 49 pet and mowed down everything to the gnome castle... took all of 3 minutes maybe. I came with the attitude of destroy everything in sight and gab would eventually spawn... So.. 4 hours later without a spawn... something was wrong here. I then asked someone who had camped it before whom said to kill as little things as possible (oops...) and she would spawn. I figured it was worth a shot, so parked pet inside room and didnt kill anything except stuff in the room... no more than 20 mins later i had my molten cloak. I stayed to see if another would drop but it didn't, however, gab spawned multiple times when i wasn't mowing everything in sight down. Whatever your ideas may be... i don't care... this is what worked for me.
I sat inside the room the WHOLE time i camped her when i got my cloak which is enough to say to me that you do NOT need to stand outside her room when she spawns.. she'll spawn with you and your pet sitting right next to her... with the cloak.
Another thing... 'molten' cloak... and it doesn't even have 5 fire resist... wtf is up with that..
Can you show me another cloak with +4 wis stats? Hmmm, molten cloak and it's 2k as well. Wisdom based casters (like myself, a druid) will love this cloak. I thought it was well worth the 2k I paid for it.
Maybe b/c of faction hits? Looks like you may get a bad faction hit with the gnomes of Ak'Anon... may also make it tough over in Velious b/c of the Gnomes there. Not really sure tho... I could be totally wrong. ;-)
Id say best Int caster only. For the same price wis casters can get Mammoth-hide (AC 7 +4 wis and some cold resist), so its basically for int only. also, you do take gnome faction hits, and they see through invis, being mechanical (clockworks). anyway, shes a long spawn and its not a common drop =(
Its a rare drop and its very difficult to camp, well at least to solo; it was nearly impossible for me at 47 with a fully buffed pet because : 1)You cant stay in Maggie room because sometimes the spawn pop three ECW models in the same time OR two + Maggie who is the cute lil gnome wizard that wont give you her cloak even if politly asked ;). She will toast you while you try to get the models of you. 2)You can manage to break the spawn of course, pulling them one by one outside the room, but its risky coz you can pull 2 or the 3 if you get too close. And to get to this room (the right from outside the fort entrance) you have to action a porticullis and get rid of the 2 entrance guards models that pop about every 19 mn or something. The tricky part is when you clear Maggie room not to have an entrance guard pop in the same time so be careful and time your pull. 3)Of course, you will have roamers from the inside gnome fort and that wandering model who drops the charred BP and shield. This roamer is just a badass and is triggered some time after you have killed the entrance guard spawn outside 4)Better to clean the tunnel behind you in case charred guardian wandering model (EXG ?) comes around and attack you he MIGHT train the miners, conjurers or gnomes curator around in the tunnel. He is highly resistant to magic btw so dont expect to mez it or DD him easily...
Well now you guess why the Molten cloak is expensive... Oh and i forgot, its a LENGTHY camp, once i didnt see Maggie spawn for 4 hours, but when she doesnt spawn for a long time that might be a good omen. Check also, if she dont have dagger on (mithril quil) then she have the cloak, Bingo ! Took me 12 hours to get cloak, and i died twice, so bring friends (i would say a full 30 th group would make awesome xp here) but i am really not lucky on camps. You cant just get a good book and wait like you could camping Kindle and the impskin gloves, coz its an high risk area if your KOS PS. Thanks Kidney for your help on my last hours i was really desesperate ;) !!!
