Why would anyone want this?
# Jun 17 2001 at 5:17 AM Rating: Default
I dont understand this at all. I've got a 21 warrior on Karana, he has mostly all bronze. the BP is ac 17. this is 19.. I got the Bronze at about level 8 for 17pp. at the low price as you all say, FP BP goes for 190pp. is 173pp a good price to pay for 2ac upgrade? naah.

So just buy one of the other BP's with an ac of 19. Good luck finding anything with this ac cheaper. So it's "only 2 higher." This translates to 3 or 4 actual ac, and this might just save your life. Besides, when you start adding the 1 or 2 ac difference per piece, the total is huge. Try this. Make 2 new level 1 warriors with the same stats, on different accounts. Give one a full set of fine plate, and the other a full set of bronze. Now duel. See how one sided it is! Sure there is better armor out there, but its not this cheap. And there's cheaper armor out there, but it's not this good! Using your logic, I'd still be wearing patchwork armor 'cause it was free.

Agreed! Adding 1 more ac her and there adds up. Plus the next step up has stats which will be 3x this amount. Bronze? Bronze is much heavier than FP. That extra +1 or 2 you picked up on jewelery goes down the drain since you're trying to haul your armor around. First decent loot you pick up and you're encumbered! Although luclin stuff is pouring in and nerfing the market now. Although I wish you could smith something better than ornate chain for the non-plate classes other that cultural.

Well, technically, Seafarers ringmail is cultural, but it has very good ac, and is wearable by most chain classes. I made some for my iksar shaman. Better than ornate chain. Also, only hard to get part is the temper, which isn't really that hard.

Because it takes around 700pp to make a whole set, and on the average they sell for 1000pp (undyed), the artisan must make a profit.

Also, bronze, on the norm is sold for 2pp per AC.

(also, look what it takes to make fine plate <it's a pain in the ***>)

Its quite a bit lighter than bronze. It alro re-sells instantly. Looks better than bronze.

I realize this was almost a year ago now, but if you still want a set send a tell to Noilemahc or Baniff and we can work something out.

cost
# Apr 16 2001 at 6:13 PM Rating: Default
Dont know why it says this costs 241pp <shrugs unknowingly> on the torv server its 10pp per ac so........ it totals up to 190pp, on the torv server at least
RE: cost
# May 19 2001 at 8:43 PM Rating: Default
10pp per AC pricing is absolute BS. Your local smith will go broke in no time at that price. The more accepted pricing scheme is 75pp for one sheet, 150pp for two sheet and 250pp for three sheet. Hehe, sink a few thousand plat into getting your skill up to make the stuff, then tell me 10pp per ac is fair.
RE: cost
# Jun 11 2001 at 1:54 PM Rating: Excellent
I have found from personal experience (and now as a newly FP capable smith) that the 10pp/AC rule ONLY applies to the 2nd hand market (ie someone upgrading and wanting to dump their old armor). If you want a smith to make things on demand for you expect to pay somewhere aournd 75pp/sheet. Most people do throw a fit at that number becasue someone has engrained 10pp/AC into their head, but after 3 days of auctioning in EC and getting no takers and collecting only 1 or 2 peices they are generally more than happy to come crawling back and beg you to make them something at 75pp/sheet.
Remember folks some of this stuff costs around 90pp to make (like legs and breastplate for example). I fail once now it's 180 its cost me...twice, well I loose money even at 75pp/ac.
So unless you are lucky enough to find a master smith in the 220's (good luck) willing to make you plate few are going to do it at 10pp/ac after they see that their account is getting smaller and not larger.
Just like I did to the smith the other night auctioning to make in EC at 10pp/ac (after an arguement with me about cost even)...I told him I'd take 100 cloaks. He asked why? I told him we had a large guild I was the only master smith and really didn't have time to make them - he bought it. Half hour later he was asking for money upfront becasue he failed on 20/20 combines thus far and was now broke.
Evil? Perhaps, but it is a lesson best learned. Always know what your costs are and always make sure you make a profit.
You don't want to pay 75pp/sheet? Don't expect me to haul my butt up to HH and back to FP to make you the armor. Simple. I already have enough business that I don't have to worry about wanting for work :)

i rarely see this armour for more than 10pp per AC on Saryrn, but i will say this, the economy on Saryrn is in pretty poor condition right now. :(

ok first there are different colors of dye. there are 6 colors. forget the names but the colors are green, blue, yellow, brown, red, and black. now first you must obtain the components of each color (ex. evergreen leaves, which makes green, must be foraged) then you gotta get a shaman with the alchemy skill to make the actual dye outta the components. then go to HHP (only place i know so far) to get jar of laquer and jar of acid. then you can combine the dye, jar of laquer, jar of acid, and fp piece to dye it that color. im pretty sure its trivial at any lvl. you can also makes shades of each color, using resins. i have no idea where you find those, so maybe a master blacksmith can follow up to me. but i do know this:

1 resin = light shade
2 resins = medium shade (or your basic color)
3 resins = dark shade

well hope that helps. gl

Other way around. 1 resin is dark, 3 resin is light.
