i believe you have to be by the water to forage this
RE: water

My understanding is that foraging is not affected by location in the zone.

Some may prefer it was for gameplay reasons; and if anyone has found an exception, post away.

I have my alts do a lot of fishing in Gunthak, they usually hover over the water with Lev while casting. Ranger and druids, so they all forage. All too often they are foraging this water. The ranger drops it, and the druids already each have one, so they drop them, too.

Did I say "drop"? Ack! They destroy them, because they'd be taking up all kinds of room that would be better suited to the fish!

Hunted in the fort for about 1 hour w/o kei, 55 shaman solo, easy enuf but still got aggrivated. Went and got pizza, got KEI went back. 3rd mob Human pillager dropped it, didn't know WHAT to do with the rest of my kei, combined everything at the brew barrel by turn in NPC and went to dulak for a bit. Seems to drop off all the mobs at the fort. Good hunting

I got one off a Gnome Marauder tonight as well. I got pretty lucky as I got the Water to drop in about an hour or camping. I was just killing everything in an area that was just big enough for me to controll and keep my warrior in constant motion. My 54 Druid foraged 6 of them in the time it took to get one drop for my Cleric. I set up with a 54 warrior doing the dirty work, a Cleric keeping him fighting trim, and a 54 Druid foraging and providing the snares and tracking. Needless to say at those levels the exp was almost non-existant but made some decent loot with the drops.
Best adivce I can give is don't waste time by only hunting certain typse of mobs. I have a feeling that any of the mobs around the fort can drop the water.

Best of luck to you all.

I also got the gulf water from an erudite marauder
hunting around the fort in gulf of gunthuk.
Took about 2 hours.

My druid friend foraged two of the gunthak gulf water in 20 minutes. To bad they are no drop. ^_^

Likewise. Wife and I tried fighting in the harbor near the entrance to Dulak but didnt seem to have any luck and werent seeing any pirate type mobs, mostly commoners and residents and such after about 45 mins of fighting. So we moved back to the fort area (first opening from your left coming from the beach and just fought at the entrance to the area. Spent a little over an hour there killing marauders, pillagers and plunderers and finally got the drop off an erudite maruader. Did the brew, did the hand in and she now has Pure Blood. Cool =)

Went through 6 stacks of catch-a-lot bait and went from 102 to 123 skill. No gulf water found.

Tattered cloth sandals = 44
Rusty Dagger = 40
Fish Scales = 35
Fresh Fish = 32
Deep Sea Urchin = 30
Ovate Jellyfish = 29
Gunthak Gourami = 12
Moray Eel = 11

Fishing skill: 131 to 156 + 5% mod skill

I tried the fihsing route after killing the fort 5 times... I guess I shouldn't have been throwing those sandals back into the gulf.

I think anyone who says they caught the water fishing was a forgager who got confused with what they forgaged versus what they fished. Either that or you need 200 skill.

Thankfully, I had Brell's Fishin' Pole, so it wasn't too bad of a time! You begin to summon ale!

You aren't going to find this by fishing, so don't try. My rogue used to fish (skill 194) with catch-a-lot bait in Gunthak all the time so I could get ovate jellyfish for a poison. I have fished in Gunthak for hours upon hours over the course of several months back when I was using that poison. NEVER did I catch Gunthak Gulf Water.
Not ALL druids have it easy

Eh, I'm a druid with maxed out forage and have tried foraging it for two days now and no luck. Will try to kill some pillagers tonight.

Ditto, I spent over an hour foraging in both Nadox and Gunthak trying to get this, and in the end went over to the area with the pirate shacks in Gunthak and killed about 20 of the lvl 35-40 pirate types of various races, before I got this off a Gnome of some sort -- that bit took about 20 mins.

Drop Rate?
# Mar 31 2003 at 9:53 PM Rating: Default
I've slaughtered the whole pillager/marauder village dozens of times and have yet to see this drop. Is there any specific area I need to camp? It's listed as having ground spawn as well, can anyone verify that? And give the loc?
RE: Drop Rate?

Finally got one last night. Dropped off 'an ogre pillager' near the village. The same ogre pillager I've killed dozens and dozens of times. Good luck to all of you Clerics and Shaman! The drop rate is nowhere near the foraged rate, so be prepared to spend a crapload of time farming a green camp. Bleh.

What upsets me is that Druids can forage this and get tons of them. Since Clerics cant forage they have to fight mobs and the drop rate sucks.
RE: Drop Rate?
# Jun 21 2005 at 7:07 AM Rating: Decent
What upsets druids is that clrs cry when druids were getting the 0% rez ability, get no real CH, no crit CH, are pretty useless in groups from 53 - 58, don't get a very useful buff until 63 (if you call Cabbage useful, just ask how many people would actually take it over temp) and the list goes on. Foraging isn't that great of a skill. It occasionally makes you money, but who's going to mule a bunch of crap that has no insurance to?

Hehe, I haven't been so lucky in the foraging part. My skill is 177 and i've been at it for hours and haven't foraged this stuff yet. /sigh. Foraging takes a long time to recycle, too. I've been casting level 1 spells to skill up in casting skills so I don't get bored. Now 3 of those skills are capped. I got a funny feeling they're all gonna cap before I find this stuff. Then i'll really be bored.
