Prolly best to let the wizzies loot this. I have one, as a necro I dont see any damage increase on my gimpy line of cold based nukes. I like the stats, but there are better out there for my class..Bummer...

Anger of Druzzil would have been a better effect for this ring considering only wizards can cast cold nukes of the classes that can wear this ring.

Not true, Necros also have cold based nukes, Chill Bones/Conglaciation. They just sort of suck is all, lol (app. 500 dd damage).

If a wizzy wasn't defaulted this ring that wanted it someone oughta be shot.

The only people who should be shot are those who think that an item should be defaulted to a specific class just because they "may" get the most use out of it. True, the focus effect is nice for wizards, but the focus isn't the only effect on this item. There are many more stats that would be beneficial to anyone that has lesser gear. If it was meant for only wizards to use, then it would say only WIZ under the class.

When this this dropped, a magician decided to spend more dkp on it over me, and so they got it, although they do get the stats from it, its the focus on it that left me feeling miffed that the wizards should only been allow to get it, after all the whole point of gearing up is to progress a guild, and wouldnt the focus do more use for a wizard and thus more use for the guild.
But it doesnt matter much now since I own a Wrath of E'ci item.

you use DKP, your gearing is meant to be fair, not progressing the guild

yay merit based!
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 08 2003 at 8:47 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) My god I've seen 3 of these drop so far on guild raids. I can't wait to get one of my own. I'm glad they have something like this in to give a little taste of PoP stats. I still can't believe it's 13 int and 115 on one tiny ring plus all the other neat stats especially the 20 MR.

This dropped from the tower boss Kuanbyr last night.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 26 2003 at 5:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Now, does this effect stack with spell based damage increasing devices (Iceflame of E'Ci)? I know Iceflame stacks with Improve Damage items, so I think this would as well... however I am uncertain.

No foci effects do not stack. Ice Flame only effects level 60 ice nukes anyways and is better than the 20% focus effect from mage item. You will always use the foci that gives you the greater percentage for effect. So if you have this ring and an ID4 item, the ring will trigger off for your ice nukes. The only foci effect that stacks is the bard song that give an additional % to nukes over foci.

Wrong, although I'm sure for all those it concerns they already are aware of this. Iceflame stacks with any item focus.

PoP Focii work the exact same as Luclin ones do. They just have newer names, because there's more variance in what they do.

Yes, far as I know, Spell, Worn and AA focii will stack in most cases.
nice ring
# Feb 02 2003 at 8:19 PM Rating: Default
what it means is this ring is focus item for cold based nukes ONLY. if your an enchanter you cannot use this items focus effect and you should therefore let people with the abililty to actually cast an ice nuke loot it first. and there are only 4 items in game with this effect so pleaase dont tell me it has good mana

#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 08 2003 at 8:53 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Sorry but there is no reason to hold this item for people who can cast cold nukes. It will help some yes but jeez if you're not a total idiot you will be using whatever mage focus items you can to make up for the focus effects you're missing on your armor, even then a wizard should always be using a mage earring. Anyway it will only be adding 3% more damage possibility and the stats are basically the reason to have it being that it's 13int AND 115 in one which works out to be a buttload of mana now that all intelligence increases the mana pool as long as your int level isn't maxed already.

A quick question.
# Jan 27 2003 at 10:04 PM Rating: Default
Does this ability stack with other abilities or spells that increase damage?
RE: A quick question.
# Apr 01 2003 at 12:22 PM Rating: Default
Yes, it stacks with ALL other spell focus effects (ID, buffs, bard song). However, the maximum possible damage increase is capped at 50%.

I would suspect that if you had more than one that overlapped, it would pick the best, just like a Haste item. After all, this is effectively a Haste item for a caster (increases damage output by a certain percentage).
RE: A quick question.
# Jan 27 2003 at 10:25 PM Rating: Default
i would say no. it would be too over powering to have someone eventually get a 23% increase to dmg on just about each piece of gear and do 40k dmg with one nuke. or to get enough mana preservation gear and have the highest dmg nukes cost .5 mp. these items are apparently just coming out in abundance so that people have more choices of what gear will have an effect and allowing more people more chances to get items of the sort that they normally couldnt due to some of the difficulty of mobs. looks like verant/sony are trying to balance the field making it so that other players that are casual, like myself, to get a chance to hold items that only the strongest guilds have shots at. once i get my wizard caught up with the rest of the world ill work on getting him flagged for BoT like my SK and maybe actually get my old main back in the game. this also appears to be an attempt to make the game upgrade quite similar to diablo 2. adding in new places to roam, new monsters, new items, increased bank capacity (coming soon) among other things.

why it would say that cold spells are allowed is beyond me on account that it doesnt say that fire, magic, poison, and disease are excluded. if this were the case i could understand why there would be more than just a handful of dmg increasing items and why some would be elemental based. again similar to D2 in respect that there are items for classes that basicly increase only one skill tree (cold spells for sorceress, or poison skills necro). give it time and lets see what will come out.

the "Limit resist(Cold Allowed)" means that only spells that resist against cold will be affected by the focus.
