I've been using one of these in secondary for a few levels now. This weapon does proc quite frequently for me with my dex at 255. The loss of agi isn't even noticeable, and agi is one of my lowest stats. What is noticeable is that while the proc buff is up, you are immune to harm touch/lifetap effects. I first noticed this while farming smithing materials from the shadows in Twilight Sea. And since it completely blocked the lifetaps, the amount of damage those lifetaps would have done was not counted against 200 absorbed damage limit of the proc. Despite the lifetaps, the buff stayed up until 200 points of physical damage was absorbed or until 5 minutes had passed, whichever came first.
Let's face it. The stats on this weapon could use some work, especially with the stuff coming out these days but it's aside from the point. The damage/delay ratio's fine, but the killer is the proc. It has a proc mod which makes it proc more often than average, so I've heard. Which sounds even more appealing to the masses. Until you take into account that this rune also takes away 20 agility when it's cast, meaning, obviously, you get hit more often when casting it. Not by too much, but when you judge the rate, you may as well negate that 20 agi permenantly. The damage you take starts adding up after that much loss, especially if you're not a twink.
When you hit level 55, most mobs are gonna be hitting you for the upwards of 400hp or more. If your character is vastly superior in level to the mob then this is fine because you'll naturally get hit less.
But in most situations, this effect just assures that something is going to hit you. "Here I have protection now, come smack me for twice what I can absorb.". Right, well, point is, you can only start using this thing after the effect on it is useless virtually. It's a nice aggro weapon, and I think saying that the effect on it is a curse is overexaggerating it, but the reward is minimal at best in comparison to many other choices.
Now on the other hand, $$$ farming weapon especially if you're not adept at healing yourself. But, this is a tank weapon really, unless you're some other class that just really likes getting hit and thinks your bind spot's intellectually stimulating.
Ive wanted this since i first saw it. Unfortunatly i doubt i will get it since i now am the proud owner of Lord Seru's BBB. I still can imagine using this in BoT if im main tanking, especially if you throw a lifetap on it with LDoN. Also as a ranger the proc is fantastic but ive never seen anyone selling one on Sullon, which makes sense, since this would be a very nice PvP weapon. This would be a welcome addition to any class who could use it. Warrior's could use this to help keep aggro off the healers since it is like casting a 200 hp heal on yourself. Rogues could use the proc like no other in PvP. Ranger's... well... having a 200 point rune will keep us alive alot more heheh. Gratz to any who have this fine weapon.
That's a really good point there about the lifetap proc added on. You not only "heal" youself for 200 with the rune proc, but also you get back any life you lose. VERY useful combination, as I see it. And even better, you can put BOTH of these on the same weapon =) Wow. Then throw on another lifetap proc and you're Invinci-ranger 3000. Must... go... get this... Combination... too... appealing...
I recently purchased this weapon in the bazaar for 8k platinum. The effect is quite nice ( +40 str, +200 damage absorb, -20 agi) With my dex at 208 I proc about 4-6 times per battle which helps greatly when I am main tank for any situation. The ratio is great, the stats are great, and the effect is awesome. Not many better weapons that can be purchased than this one. And yes it looks like a Polished Granite Tomahawk.
ack i am ****** i thought this was a str increase when i saw in bazaar an passed on one that was for 5k i came back later after finding out what it really was an there were 2 one for 24k an another for 45k i was like ack damnit...This is a GREAT dueling weapon....
I am a 60th lvl Ranger and this is one of the better weapons I have come across. I tend to solo a lot and it seems to proc at least 4 times a fight with a 180 dex....that is an extra 800hps worth of damage I can take per fight. I have tried almost every weapon in the game that is worth anything and this one is the best I have found for soloing that is droppable. If you can pick one of these up for 40k..jump on it!!!! You wont be disappointed.
So, now that people can actually equip it... Does it also proc at 55 when peopl ecan first use it, or is there a higher proc level than the requirement?

Not exactly. PGT has Beserker Strength this has Beserker spirit, some 150pnts difference in Dam Absorbtion. Mind you, at 55th level 200pnts isn't much more than one hit from a blue mob.

Giant that drops this is named Dorlsak the Ornary He pops in forest giant fort rare spawn. He has about 100khp and can be slowed. He rampages and flurries. We got him to quarter health with lv 65MT in one group but slow wore off and resisted to quick death. Some survived but he despawned very quickly when we were not engaded.
Friend of mine got one, was gonna sell it to me.. we did the exchange then I see that i cant equip it !! luckily it was a friend and he took it back until they can fix it.
WHOA!! LOL LOL!!! I love this weap, hahaha, i want one !! wish i could wear it, i'm sure they'll fix it though. PGT 2.0! Not bad dmg/dly for a 55+ war either to keep aggro with and save him some dmg.
Guess what folks, this item is not equipable. It cannot go in either melee, but it is a real item. My guild was working on a quest in PoS and killed the named who dropped this, figuring it is a quest item or broken/incomplete weapon. I looted it since no one wanted and tried to equip it to confirm, but couldn't. If I remember right, the named was some named giant from the Forest camp

It brings a tear to your eye doesn't it? I remember spending about a week trying to get a damn PGT and when I finally won the roll... my wife thought I figured out some method where we didn't have to pay taxes for the rest of our lives.... nope.. just a PGT and the good ol' Cracked Darkwood Shield. Back when I was a twink because my friend kicked down a serpentine bracer. LOL Back in those days, every level was a hell level and I had to walk to school in the snow t..... nevermind... Good to see an update to an old world item... fake, unequipable or otherwise.

Ok, enough of the puns...this is one nice weapon though, although a bit weak for the recommended level.

May not be a premier weapon to use in the big raids, but for regular groupage ... and especially soloing / farming HGs ? In an instant.
I have heard a rumor of Beserker / Rune type procs carrying a good deal of aggro. Several times in raids I had gained unwanted attention with my Runed Blade (a 2hd slash with Rune III proc). Just have to experiment more.
But first ... i have to get my frikkin Swiftwind! Gaah! Gotta find some nimrods going to the Hole and beatin on old Jaeil! This weapon + Swifty = Khemo, the UNSTOPPABLE bunny hunter!! ^_^
Khemosaabe "Tonto SPAM" Longbow (of Cazic Thule server) Lvl 58 Ranger and Slayer-of-Bunny-Wabbits "NUTHIN' stops the Juggernaut!"
I agree with your use for this, it's more toy than anything else at 55 most of the mobs you are fighting will eat thru Beserker Spirit in a second but on mid to high 40's mobs it'll absorb a couple and on Greens it'll be useful. If they made the level limit lower it would be too unbalancing, imo.
Beserker Spirit does not seem to create much Aggro in my experience, my enchanter has never taken aggro with it but the Rune line is another matter, if you ever cast it on the Tank you'll end up casting it twice, once on the tank and once on yourself after the Mob just ripped thru your own one.

As a bard I can confirm the effect of rune spells on aggro. I have tanked several times for rag-tag groups with no one else to absorb the hits. All you have to do is spam the level 49 Shield of Songs a few times to get initial aggro and then keep it in your twist to cover the casters' aggro.
That is because you are buffing rune on the whole group which makes the mob angry. Try being solo sitting next to a group and rune yourself, 0 aggro. Same with this axe, the rune proc does not generate any aggro because it is you buffing you, not you buffing someone with aggro.
Having a damage shield going will not build aggro. Casting a damage shield will build aggro.
