Please help the newbie, but is it possible to equip multiple manuals IE the beginners Magic Manual in your secondary slot and a Beginner combat manual in your range slot?
Okay, this guy is located at P675 P815, first floor of the building (good side) that links a ramp to the great library.
Now...I hailed him to start the quest and everything was fine until I said, "I am willing to learn." He told me come back when I had the proper tools. I found out that you have to do the quest for the Planar Travel Manual first, before Acomar will allow you to continue.
Ok on the Book its good but there is a better one that i found for cheap. Fine Antique Velvet Rose. It has one less wis/int but it has Extended Range that will allow most wis based casters to but on a Velium Jasper Ring or another along those lines instead of the Moonstone Ring. For Druids that kite its a must i just got it and i had 2 vel jas rings but i needed the moonstone so i ended up getting an extra 9 wis on it instead of the 3 i would have gotten with this book. I am going to do the quest any way cause it will get better eventually, but i am a Focus Effect nut. That is the #1 thing that i look for on items. If you are looking for great druid items feel free to check me out or e-mail me if you need more item help. https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/userinfo.html?char=292670
This is a decent Range item. With my wisdom maxed for now (255), I don't need wisdom. The small amount of Mana is useful, as are the Hit Points. I got rid of my velium jasper rings long ago in favor of rings with mana/hp (Shadel Bandit and Circled Toe Bone). I don't have this yet, since I prefer to make my own stuff instead of buying, and need to work up my baking a little (or, get more than the 6 or 7 meats I have).
Just a friendly message about making blanket statements about what is "better."

The Fine Antique Velvet Rose may be better for you.

the official lvl to get this is lvl 30 not before but it can be attained once u hit lvl 30 with reduced stats.but if u want a good range slot item ur better off gettin one of the golden idols of blah blah blah.only because it will take a long time to get the heart for intermediate
Trivial > 237. That was my skill last time I attempted. I was successful on 3 of 4 attempts; for comparison, I was getting about 30-35% successes on MTPs at that skill.
I believe the quest is rated at lvl 55 because you need to aquire hobgoblin meat from hobgoblins in the Plane of Nightmares to get it.
I suppose someone might give or sell you the meat, though.
Edit: Apparently you also have to combine the ingredients in the oven in the Plane of Nightmares, so that pretty much means you have to be lvl 55 with the support of a group to complete the quest.
I am curious as to why this post was rated so poorly...
Edit Edit: That's the problem with trying to use information from other sources, you sometimes get things wrong. Then again, if I waited until I tested everything myself, I wouldn't be able topost much at all.
Just a little clarification on where the baking combine can be done.
Hobgoblin suprise can be baked in an oven in PoK (Tanaan oven) or in a collapsable spit (regular spit will not work). The combine does not have to be made in PoN.
With a baking skill of 206 I ended up with 2 successes out of 9 attempts (ouch).
A big thanks to my guildmates who keep feeding me tradeskill supplies.

Not posting at all is a lot better than posting misleading information. Simply put... If you don't know that what you are posting is 100% correct, why post it? People that read these boards are looking for EXACT information and anything other than that, is just wasting their time. Thus... they will rate your post poor. :0)
Noooo. People are not always looking for exact information. The quest to get into HoH is done from time to time as well, however you don't see people posting anything about it.
Someone should at least post something about it to give SOME kind of an idea as to what we're supposed to do. Although if they are gonna post information that is speculation I do agree the person should let people know that they are only posting a theory.
I can confirm that you don't have to use an oven in the Plane of Nightmare - PoK is fine. You can also just buy the hobgoblin suprise for turn in, runs about 200pp on brell, last I checked.
believe it or not, i just bought some tonight for 40p. Yes, 40. The last time I did this quest with my druid, it was around 100p, so I was shocked. *shrug*
(NOTE: this post is only about the rating system used on the boards here - if you're looking for something else, just skip this post! Thanks! - P)
Actually, Janaleea, Allakhazam's uses a rating system that is strongly Post-based. Each post is able to be ranked by readers according to their whims, but in general utility and entertainment value are the most highly rewarded - the stuff you WANT to read when you come here. Posts about your wang or "monk item" posts generally fall off the boards pretty fast, but there seem to be enough of them to maintain a presence (doh!).
Anywho: Each post is ranked by readers - a User's "posting karma" is the average of all their post's ranks. So it's not how many posts you have that determines your status, or the size of your wang, as some people seem to think - but how useful what you has to say is, each and every time you post. If someone consistently makes good posts, their overall karma will go up, and even an "unranked" post from them will have a good rating. On the other hand, someone who continues to make awful posts will eventually be ranked so badly that most people will never have to see their blabbering.
You can also adjust your 'Karma Filter' to show you only posts within a certian range - so for searching for info on an obscure quest, you might want to include ALL posts, no matter how painful it may be. If you just want to read complete sentances, set your rating a little higher, heh. If you set your rating all the way up to 4.00 or more, you won't see a lot of content, but what you do should always be worth reading.
Anyway, I've babbled long enough, and while this is relevant to your one-sentance statement, I think I'm a bit long winded for the Beginners in Magic, hehe. If you want to know more (which you probably don't, but...), click on the "MAIN .. FAQ" link at the top left. ( https://everquest.allakhazam.com/FAQ.html ).
I hope I haven't bored anyone to tears here - I'll shut up so you can go back to camping Raster or the bear in Miragul's cave. (Yikes!)

(EDIT: Addendum! - Dargadin - I wasn't just posting for you, but for everyone who reads on these boards. It didn't seem (to me at least) that Janaleea knew exactly how the rating system worked (of course, they might not care that much, either, lol), and I know there are others out there that might want to know more. Again, there is a link at the top of the page that has this (and a lot of other useful) info listed, but not everyone has the time to read everything. ... I thought your post was useful and rated it as such, too. =) Have a good day!
I know how the post system works. When I said I didn't understand why my post had been rated so poorly, I meant I didn't understand why my post seemed to attract the ire of other users.
All I said was that the quest was probably rated at lvl 55 because you had to get Hobgoblin meat, and Hobgoblins are in the PoN and therefore killing them is a lvl 55+ activity.
But I know that you can never really predict what will annoy people.
Ummm...Ananvil...there is already a 15ac 15wis 15int 35mana range item you can get from Maidens Eye, No Drop...called Divine Inspiration..look it up ;)
Not a bad little item by any means. The effort to attain might seem a bit off but in contrast once drops from the various planes begin to become prevalent, obtaining the hobgoblin surprise should be a cinch. At worst we'll start seeing the meat or the surprise itself available for sale shortly in the Bazaar (if not already). Whatever it may cost in the end will therefore determine how easy it is to get ahold of this item. The quest text definately points to advanced forms of this quest and items associated with it...
This can only make me hope that there will be an intermediate book and advanced book with better stats. Can you imagine a AC +14 Wis +12 Int +12 Range Item? Yet another point for the trade skillers!
Ananvil Hurtz Sullon Zek & The Tribunal Let's go good team!
It's not exactly 14 AC, and doesn't have ANY Int, but as a shammy and an avid tradeskiller, I don't mind a bit =) : check out the Benevolence quest! You'll need good faction with Skyshrine, a set of tools from Commander Leuz (which you get for just talking to him), and a single group (if they're good enough - otherwise bring friends!) ... also a bit of luck/timing to find Scout Charisa up in Western Wastes (and not holding a bag - which would mean someone has failed the quest).
