This mask is awsome both my wizard and SK have this thing now with my wizard my normal casting time of lesser evac was 10/5 secs its now 8.0 and for my sk my fear spell used to take 4or 5 secs i think, now takes 2 secs to cast i highly recomend any and all casters under 44 to get this mask ASAP

I quested this for my ranger and druid, and will soon for my cleric, after I found out they added Spell Haste II, very nice item for any caster (not so much for my ranger, as he has a better face piece, but if i'm ever in a situation where i need to chain cast, it'll be a big help). If you can get a reliable invis and a sow (to prevent a heart-attack), this quest is a cinch. Only scary part is running through droga (why I say to get a reliable invis, as invis dropped when i was there w/ my druid. first instinct was to gate out instead of waiting to see if i'd agro'd anything and re-camo). Anyway, I did this quest for my lvl 13 enchanter, and showed a friend w/ a 15 druid how to do it, and those two characters made it through without a hitch. Hurry, guys, get to it!

In an unusual spout of generosity, it seems Verant has given back something for the stats tehy took away. The mask I earned a couple days ago now has a focus effect: Spell Haste II. That frees up my summoned ring for spell haste. I think that a usable focus effect was a fair trade for the nerfing.

On Firiona Vie, almost everything is tradable or sellable in the bazaar, and this item is no acception. Some friend where going into Droga over the weekend and let me know I was welcome to come a few days before we went. So I got the book I needed. Since we normally go to the Secret room righ off, it was pretty easy. Once there I handed him the book and got the right one.

Once we were done, I turned in the book and got the mask. I then sold it for 300p easy, as I have the wizards Acumen mask. Two days later, the Druid that went with us wanted to get two masks for friends of ours, who only had silk veils. We bought some sarnak blood for a few plat in the bazaar, ran the course of the quest and handed it off to our friends later, who where very happy with the upgrade in equipment.

While a lot of people make comments about FV Trival Loot Code, stuff like this more then makes up for it.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 31 2002 at 1:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's funny how you sold this for 300pp and yet it's no drop. I did this quest last night and it's definatly NO DROP. So, hummm let me think about your crap statement. Yep it's still total crap!

Pardon me sir, but on the Firiona Vie server, very few items are No-Drop. If fact No-Drop is mostly(other than Epics and a very few other items) nullified here. It is what makes up for the global TLC we suffer from. The previous post is quite valid.

Sorry, hit post message before I finished typing. I said that almost everything is tradable or sellable. That is the same as what you said, very few items are No-Drop. There are a few things that are not epic items that are no drop. I happen to have one, an item I got at a GM event. The chunk of Tundra you get for killing the Corrupted Mammoth in Everfrost is No-Drop. (unless it has been recently changed, I stopped hunting mammoths some time ago).

All I was stating is that for the Firiona Vie server, this was a very good item, conisdering the level you have to be to get it. As my subject line says, I like it. Key word being I. Not, you're a fool if you think this item stinks.

And since they have added the Spell Haste 2 focus effect, this really is a good item for players 48 and down. Since getting a SMR (Shinning metalic robe)is not the easiest thing to do.

It's called trade off. Which is more important to you? Lots if intelligence bonus or a focus effect? Which is stackable with the clerics new spell haster buff. making it a total of 25% increase on spells 44 and down (The 39th level spell buff works on spells 61 and down, I'm saying his so people won't flame this. Please note, I also said the combined total for spells 44 and down, as Spell Haste 2 focus items works on spells 44 and down).

I have a SMR, and with the Spell Haste Buff, 25% decrease in casting time is great. Since it works on all spells and not just certain types. This means that those evacs happen faster, which is nice if things go bad.

And yes we suffer from TLC on FV. TLC is not a bad idea, it's just done wrong. They tried to make it easier on us by making almost (please note the meaing of the word, almost, as in not all, but close) everything sellable or tradable (or non-No-Drop). So that way if we failed to get an item for a quest, we could hire some lower level players to get it for us. Saddly all this has done is caused any item to be used in Epics to go sky high in price. Any class that has an item that is dropped by lower level mobs have to get and hold onto those items at the right level, or A. pay someone to go in and get it for them. or B. Pay outragoues prices in the bazaar for it.

I agree, it's all a trade-off as to what you think is more important. My druid and cleric each have one of these, and neither use the Velium Ruby Veil that I have (haven't sold it, because I use it for getting wisdom higher for trade-skilling). The Spell Haste can save you in a pinch more than 5 wisdom will. It's all based on your priorities. One man's garbage is another man's treasure (I think that's how it goes.) ;)
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 04 2002 at 3:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) To be honest, I'm not sure what your point is, other then you feel a need to point out a mistake in my post, which is also unclear what you feel my mistake is.

If you can invis yourself you can get through the dungeon you just need to be careful. I did this with my 21 wizzie. I did die twice but lets face it at 21 its not that tramatic to regain exp. One death was getting to droga since the giants in FM see through invis so that is actually one of the more dangerous parts of this quest. I suggest that if you are 30 or under you bind outside the entrance to droga just in case.
good reason

Well, i've been playing for over a year now, and I must be doing something wrong, because I don't have 10k pp laying around like most people to run to the bazaar and buy whatever i want. I have a 28 enchanter wearing a sheer bone mask. If I can safely navigate the dungeon, I'd gladly sell the sheer bone mask and use this. no, it's not an upgrade, they both have 3 ac and 3 int, but pushing up the rest of my stats by any little bit is nice, especially for < 1 hr worth of work.

JMHO
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 24 2002 at 5:37 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok, the quest sounds boring and easy, according to the walkthrough, and the reward is lame. Realistically, who would even take off an acrylia studded mask, in favor of this. lose ac and wis, and gain... 3sv magic and 10hp. WOW!
RE: Why bother?
# Mar 04 2003 at 2:23 AM Rating: Decent
Well, for one thing, this doesn't have to be a "twinking item" because a fairly low level player can get it on his own. Gee, imagine that.

I have to assume that your opinion was formed before the spell haste effect was added to this item. That effect, IMO, is quite valuable, especially at lower levels when channeling skill is not very high.

Plus, i know it doesn't matter in terms of stats/mana/whatever but I think the name of this item is pretty neat, and the fact that it's no-drop is pretty cool too. Definitely on my necro's to-do list.
question
# Oct 24 2002 at 5:25 AM Rating: Default
The item is a no drop, but do you think it is possible to hand off the book to your low level alt to turn in for the Mask, or is every item in the quest a no drop? I don't need it, but have a 15 cleric I am working on that could use it.

sorry posted on the wrong thread. the three items you get ( note and 2 books) are no drop. Also where you trade in the 1st book to get the right book is a tough dungeon. so be careful or gate when you make the trade.

The first book trader is a secure enough location, with not many goblins around so you should be ok there just don't move too much.

It seems that most of the PoP quests require you to have the previous expansions to complete them. There's one mage quest that requires spells from all 3 of the previous expansions to complete. This one isn't too bad, someone with just RoK and PoP can do it.

It was an easy quest I know but why change the stats? I can understand the No Drop, otherwise it would be bazaar fodder and the intended recipients would never get one. I did the quest thinking that it was a +5 stat item, not a +3, I'm glad is has a save magic resist, but only +3. Pretty much junk now, you could buy an Unholy Visage for about 300pp or so and be better off. Oh well, I should have read the posts, I wouldn't have bothered with it.
Nerfed

I agree,I would loved to have had this for my SK with original stats.Even if it was No Drop.I can confirm this mask has been nerfed.Saw link to it tonight, right before I was going to Hail the quest giver.
/wanders off grumbling about Verant's nerf bat again..

how do you twink with a no drop item . Its not twinking if you do the quest yourself silly.P

It used to be tradable. Check the date of the post.
NoDrop is good, Stats change was bad
# Oct 23 2002 at 6:35 PM Rating: Default
Well I can see the reason for NoDrop, this quest could be completed in 5 min each time handing the item off to a mule if you where a druid / wizard and could bind at the third NPC. Frankly I am glad they saw the problem of this being severly farmed for Bazaar bait.

BUT, I do not agree with the stat changes at all.
Stats have changed
# Oct 23 2002 at 4:52 PM Rating: Default
Well in typical Verant fashion this item has already been nerfed. It is no drop now and the stats are only AC3 sta3 wis3 int3 hp10 mana10 svm3. I completed the quest on Wednesday 2 days after POP was released and they have already changed it. Still not a horrible item for the time involved but it would have been much better the way it was. :(
