This ring is quite useful for my level 24 shadowknight. The exra HP is handy, but the effect does not apply to our 22 level pet spell (essentially a level 12 Necro pet). Perhaps we should get that pet at level 19 (along with pet shrink) to balence this out? Just a thought...
I've been using this ring since level 15 or so, and find the extra HP really helps - especially for a monk. Sure, the SV Magic drop is a downfall but like everything in EQ it's a fine balance.
I haven't been using the haste function to be honest, because I don't know how to! How do you hot key an item?
that item has Summoning Haste. Which ONLY works on MAGE pets under 20. It cuts the casting time by 30%. On a monk, it will do nothing but the item stats, +75 hp and -10 Magic Resist
hmm i just grabbed this off casters realm and it doesn't say anything about Mage Only - just any summoned pets - /shrug ------------------------------ Focus Description
Summoning Haste I operates on spells which are Level 20 or less. The Summoning Haste Foci will only work on summoning spells.
It is really disheartening to hear people fight so much over the worthiness of such items. It is often said... One persons junk is anothers treasure. If the item is not good for you, perhaps it will be for someone else.
I have to acquire this item, not for wearing it or any characteristics that it has. Notice that it is "Used In Quests ~ Call of Flames"?
As a 45th seasoned ranger, I will find this ring and use it, not to ever be worn, but to be turned in for another spell in my **********

Fabulous wisdom from another of our "Uber" minded 50+ friends. +75 HPs at lower levels make things so much easier when soloing red con mobs. Perfect for twinking up your character and even better for certain situations. Just because it has a negative aspect to you does not mean the rest of us think it is junk. Use on a warrior who doesn't need the SV vs Magic (such as fighting a melee mob).
Shenook of Xegony One Hundred Swords Necromancer of the 51st Season
any class 2 of these is a free plvl to lvl 10 no doubt, even 1 is great. my lvl 35 nec keeps 2 in her inventory in case i have to make a run for zone lol. it has actualy saved me twice. good game l52, i have baked steaks with more inteligence /flip
i found an excellent combo for a quick and relatively cheap 110 hp is adamantite band+skull shaped barbute. you end up with plenty of hp, and no loss of MR due to the ssb +10 MR and adamantite band -10 MR cancelling out. of course this only works for plate classes; but you take what you can get.

Thank you for being so stupid whoever dropped it!!
may be they were a high lvl who didnt want such junk you idiot! you should say thanks to whoever dropped it instead of not just destroying it or giving it to a necro pet or seomthing
lol what are you gonna say? "GM please help me this anon guy on allakhazam`s stole my stuff and i cant get it back even though i have no idea who the hell he is or what server he`s on! help me!"
Someone the other night sold me one of these for 65pp (he only wanted 60 but I usually give a small tip for the favor). The -10svMg really hurts, but I avoid casters like the plague anyway. Now what to do with my spare Gold Fire Wedding Ring? Hmmmm...

As a Caster I love this ring. Typically that obnoxious red bar is not a health measure, but how long you get to cast spells before you die (or how many resists you can rack up on it before it beats the tar out of you) This always gives me enuf of an edge to get that killing spell off, and this is at 24. Give one to a level 1 tho, they will have to try very hard to die. For casters it quadruples your hp, and its still a major portion of your hp up till around 20. yeah, so that -10 magic is painful, not like npc pure casters that can kill you with spells live long to hurt you after you unload a couple of large DD's into em. Seeming as their spells use a rigged npc resist tables, you should be using stun/interrupt spells, timing your bashes or just steering well clear of them anyway. by the time you're high enuf to need the magic resist, you can afford the +45 mana/hp jade rings or the black pearl rings
You're quite right, this is pretty decent for casters. Until I started collecting +hp items on my necro, at level 54, in order to make full efficiency of Lich and Bond of Death (lifetap over time), I had to Lich down to about 2 bubbles of health. If I lag or time my spells wrong and get hit, when at only 2 bubbles of health, I've got a pretty decent chance of dieing, as once you're below a certain % of health, the mob will definately not leave you alone for your pet, and you're moving slower. Once I starged getting close to 250 int (Thanks Bazaar!!), I thought I'd do better to swap some items out for +hp items such as this. Now I can Bond of Death at 3 bubbles of health (having the lifetap wear off just as I hit full health, while Lich'd), and lag and little slipups aren't fatal any longer.
99% of the time I'm not fighting something that casts (unless I'm slumming in Najena or something), so -10 mr isn't that hard to suck down. The only exception is in raid situations, in which case I have resist rings that would replace this item regardless. So even though it's been said a bunch of times, I'll say it again. Negative stats don't a worthless item make. Instead they make a situational item. Building up situational gear will allow you to be far more powerful in situations when you have the appropriate gear on than a nebulous (all-situation) set of gear would make you.
wear one of these, and if you are below 75HP take it off, NO EXP LOSS!.........PKers CAN'T LOOT YOU! great for warriors and those who lose major EXP on dieing.
Are you really going to sit there and watch your life drop down just to try and take this off once you get below 75?? hmm I can see how this goes, uh oh low on health, open inventory, put cursor on ring, watch health, 100, hit 80, hit, hit, hit (60 30 0) you are dead.... to bad you were just double hit by the mob on you and double tapped by the one 3 levels higher that just ran up on you. enjoy the death, to bad you hadnt kept your inventory down and just run/strafed your way out to the zone.
The problem is that by the time you lose serious experience from dying, 65hp isn't enough of a buffer. But this is a good idea, and I'm thinking I should get a mage to summon me a mod rod when I'm going to be somewhere risky.
Heh mod rods are an exp kill if you use them on yourself. Helpful mage gave me one when I was lv 10 on my first char, told me the effect was a buff. It deleveled me but thinking about it still makes me smile.
