Ruins of KunarkWell, since theese Gauntlets are Very Rare, i must have been Very Lucky. I was just passing time, camping the Hand room with 2 friends. We only camped it for an hour or so, and then the Gauntlets droped. Neither of us were Clerics, so I ended up getting them. Well since I cant use them, they are up for sale for 5k. If anyone is interested, just give me a tell i am on the Xev server.

I recieved these as an EQ wedding gift from my maid-of-honor just yesterday. The only problem is I can't use the effect yet. Does anyone know what lvl the effect is usable? I was told it would be the same lvl as the spell effect it self (aka: lvl 39) but was hoping to get confirmation on this. =o) Thanks.

Got these off a Construct which had been trained on us ( big surprise for KC ). Nice to have the free buff for myself and other casters in group, not to mention no mana waste when in Freeport area and tons of newbies asking for buffs. I also have the Donal's Vambraces, so the combination adds up to happy newbies. Shield of Words is still far superior AC, so tanks get it regardless. Anyways, my two cents )

...a war guildy asked me to come to KC tonight...thier group needed a cleric. So I go and eventually we end up in the hand room after we had been at a couple other camps. We hadn't been in there long when these dropped...my group awarded them to me since I didn't already have a pair. I was very grateful...however, I won't be wearing them. Gaunts of the Black are better than these, by far. However...the effect on these is actually useful. (as opposed to the vambraces) If I'm in a group with no 'chanter/bard, then I use AoF on everyone except the main tank. However, I find I usually have plenty of mana to use Cleric SoW on all of the melees and the 'chanter if I have a clarity or mana song available. I still however only use AoF on myself, since I don't get hit much in a good group anyway. The casting time on these is around 8 seconds...though I haven't timed it exactly. These would be most useful in situations where no mana regen is available...and they may also save a spell slot. I'm very happy I got them, and I plan to hang onto them for quite some time. Btw...They do look very nice when worn...like dark blue plate. I would almost call it a midnight blue color. I'd love to have a full set, just to get a pic of it.

In all the times I have camped this room looking for these to drop I have seen lots of druid stuff, 2 werewolf heads even, but not once have I seen this drop... it is rare indeed. Oh well my gaunts of the black are IMO just as good with only 1 less AC. The proc would be nice to have though since SoW is such a mana pig.
BTW, it isn't a proc, it is a triggered effect.

thing about shield of words is. it is only 6 more ac for 150 more mana. AoF is 150 mana, SoW is 300 mana. shield of words sucks. 150 extra mana is just too much for the extra ac, it is fine if you have a main warrior, and he is only one getting ac buff, but when you are in a group with 4 melee types that all want ac buffs, then go with armor of faith.
that is why i like these gaunts, free buffs are nice, especially when it is the buff i would be casting anyway.

Shield of Words has been updated, its now adds close to an extra 30ac. Also when u get SoW (49)the mana cost is barely 10% of ur mana total. Making this spell far more usefull then AoF

something i wanted to add to my post above.
the ac isn't actually high enough for me to take gaunts of the black off for, though. gaunts of the black are 15ac and have some wis on them. the weight is an issue, too.

Up until level 49 AoF is the best Ac buff Clerics can get these gauntlets proc at 45 and they don't use mana. Some people just whine too much.

these are AWESOME for downtime! free heals if someone doesn't have better on, I never put SoWords on myself, therefor never have to waste mana healing myself and other casters....

Umm, You can't heal with this, but you CAN give a quick AoF to a tank to hold them over til you got the mana for SoW. It's better than nothing for free mana.
