Love the plate look on this thing! Does anyone know of any other caster-equippable gear that has a plate graphic, for other visible armor slots? Would love to piece together a full set of "plate" for my caster toons =P
nope, the only people that get the scull plate helmet look are female dark elves (if you're using new graphics, all dark elves have the scull helm with old graphics)
class has nothing to do with the way armor appears
if you have new graphics and you're a male erudite your helm has a scorpion tail on it. female.. well it kinda looks like a bucket with a glass front
I've asked a GM/Guide on this matter and they say that Charisma has nothing to do with fear. Or else you'd see me soloing with Staff of writhing, Iksar pariah mask, etc to get my cha to 1. And still Fear gets resisted and lasts the same time.
FanFair Q&A has confirmed that Charisma has no effect on Fear, but that it does affect other spells in the necro line, namely all Charms and Screaming Terror.
The coding has nothing to do with the class of character, but class of spell. Charisma will affect initial resist, and ongoing resist checks just as any other Charm (enchanter, druid, etc.) or Mem-blur/Mez type spell (for Screaming Terror).

First, Not trying to flame. Second, when have you ever known a GM/Guide to know absolutely everything about the game and for the few that do, they are not exactly forthcoming in sharing it with the rest of us. Third, do some tests! Have, will do some more, will keep track of em next time and will post the results. (Me necro runs 22 cha atm, working on getting it even lower.) Fourth, VI doesnt always make sense when they put stats on items (Duh! Why would there be wis on a bard only item???) but it doesnt seem that they would put so much negative charisma on necro items if it didnt play some role, whether fear or undead charm or what not. Just my 2 cents.
I have to agree with this post. Now granted I'm talking bard fear, but for the most part it's the same as any other fear. My bard normally keeps his charisma in the 140 range, for when I'm a bardchanter dontcha know. But when playing in a duet with my druid wife I spend all my time fearing and rarely have a problem with landing it and keeping it landed on anything white and under (at level 54).

It looks like a rusty orange, Ive seen this many times really wanna get this for my DE necro, was trying for Square helm but after 5 attempts in SS and no drops ive given up.
Some people say it looks like bronze, yellow/brown, or silver. I'm pretty sure its actually silver....look in the screen shot of the day section at www.eqclasses.com and you'll see the guy (in almost every shot) wearing this sucker. Looks cool and the necro in the group/groups should get this. Plate helms looks hilarious on humans, gnomes, erudites, etc. But a Dark Elf looks awesome. Too bad the human mage in the group will probably get it. I'd reserve your loot rights, if you're a nec, just for this item or a hand of the reaper. Try and get the other casters to loot stuff so, when your turn comes, you can get this.
Err, bit puzzled. Why would the mage get it? I mean granted stats are nice, but if you're talking about the serpent sight effect, we get heatstones at 16 which do the same thing. We also get coldstones at 29 which do ultravision. I'm assuming any casters in charsis will be over 29.
Frankly, I'd pass on this to whatever human int caster was there. Least the look is nifty.
