Does Gt Bat Fur Exist?
# Jan 05 2005 at 3:26 AM Rating: Decent
I get that I have to spawn the giant sylvan bats by killing giant wasp warriors, which i have to spawn by killing large sylvan bats, which i have to spawn by killing wasp workers and/or everything in sight, but how do I spawn a giant sylvan bat WITH giant sylvan bat fur? I've killed over thirty giant sylvan bats so far (after killing at least as many wasp warriors) and have received for my pains either bat wings, giant bat wings or NOTHING. How do I get one to drop fur? I hope it's not the same ratio as sprout roots. I've killed over a hundred of those and have received only one root.
Maybe I should fight to control a goblin camp so I can earn the money to buy decent armor. I think that may take less time than trying to get the newbie armor.
Warning - any nearby basilisk will attack you if it sees you fighting a wasp or bat, but not the arboreans.

That it isn't like Barbarian Shamans. They have good Str and Sta to start with, but really low Wis (I think 80 or so before you dump 25 points in it). So what does thier long awaited Newb armor give them? Strength and Stamina. If you finish chest and get the weapon "final task" it gives you 2 wis.

So full set for a Wis based caster class with a painfully low starting Wisdom gives a bonus of 2. That is ugly.

nice - a little jealous

its also HIE usable only man... Well I guess my Dwarven clic will stand out even more. Yest its tougher as a dwarf cleric... but I can out drink and out mash a stringy sharp eared one any day ! They can also wear the Chain armor... the race specific. :) Yes they are nice im sure. but I love being a dwarf...

(( stapping on my spock ears and standing in line in tall boots for one of these ))

Im a little terrified how nice some of this noob gear is.

but you know. what almost put me off and not to play eq (early on) was there is nothing to do early on. I wanted to interact, not just squish rats. This is really nice....

Adding Injury to Insult

Whoa! The WIS is equal to and damage/delay ratio is BETTER than the "imbued mithril fier'dal morning star". Don't tell the Master Wood Elf Smiths about this. There's too few of them as is.

Of course it makes sense from a roleplaying standpoint that the armor given to the High Elf priests would increase wisdom, because that is kind of the mark of a high elf after all. I would expect, though I have not looked into it, that the armor for dwarves would increase either strength or stamina a more significant amount.

Honestly, strength would be a better stat to give new high elves, but it makes no sense from a roleplay perspective.

Sure enough - seems the design is to >decrease< the number of non-HIE Clerics in the game. Combine the starting 130 WIS with the 18 WIS from a full set of newb armor and weapon. That's 148 by level 12 or so without any jewelry, books or stuff.

Why would anyone consider another race? What a shame. The diversity would do the game good. Still, that "Pestilance Priest" set _looks_ realy good. Maybe I'll start a evil human for the fun of it.

I agree. It seems like 90% of all clerics are high elves. Why make more? There's nothing wrong with them, it's just maybe it would be interesting to try more of a challenge.

First question I suppose would be has anyone worked on the newbie HE Cleric quests lately? I chose to create a char that would work her way through all of the quests. I wanted one character to do all of the quests designed for them. Unfortunately, I chose my new HE cleric to be THE ONE to accomplish this. I'm almost ready to toss in the ole towel and move on. Arborean amber is as impossible to find as Arborean sprout roots. Lil' Nen, the HE cleric I created is already lvl 10 and has managed to create 2 armor pieces only. By the time my other characters were 10 they had managed, with no assistance, to get all of their "newbie" armor. While the quest itself isnt that difficult, the wait for the drops are tedious to say the least. Maybe instead of Wisdom bonus they should give us patience?!

I'm right along with y ou on that one. I'm level 7 and just about fed up looking for this stuff. I enlisted the help of my level 25 ranger to hunt this stuff down and I've still been looking for two weeks for all of the droppings for the newbie armor. Not to mention, I've put out calls to everyone in GF to be on the lookout for this stuff everytime I play. I'm about to go mad!

aye, maybe they need the melee a lil more, but to add insult to injury by giving them WIS when they have a higher innate WIS.

The stats are great and everything, but what does it LOOK like? :D It would be sweet if it actually looked like a morningstar and not the generic mace graphic.
DOH!

If you looked at the Dwarf cleric armor quest, you would notice that all together you get +3wis from the quest armor and weapon, while the Elves get something like 15 or so. Guess its Verants way of saying, if your gonna be a newbie cleric, be High Elf.

Does anyone else think it strange that Dwarven clerics get a 9/34 weapon while High Elven clerics get a 9/33 weapon with 2 WIS? I'm not sure about the difficulty of either, but it doesn't make very much sense to me. Just my opinion.

It make perfect sense...Verant is crazy in love with us pointed eared beaties. Verant just doesn't care enough to do right by anyone else.

im not justifying them, but maybe the reason for the higher ratio on the HE is cause HE are a lot weaker melee-wise, and at lower levels, i guess you might melee
