Read the thread on this item for another discussion of "Battle Cleric" philosophy circa 2000-2002.

We need some verifications on this item:

That the quest is still functioning (should be). Note quest write up as it currently stands:

the quest entry wrote:
Find Gavel the Temperant in the Temple of Solusek Ro.

He needs an Ingot and Icon of Sacrament and two bars of magnetized platinum (give enchanted platinum to Ostorm for this).

The Icon of Sacrament is a ground spawn in Lesser Faydark near the LDON Crypt entrance, at -855, +3610.

The Ingot of Sacrament is dropped by a Giant Skeleton in the ruins in Rathe Mountains (-600, -1600). This skeleton is a darker color than the ones that normally spawn at the ruins.

Need all dialogues, /loc of quest mobs, current faction hits if any.

We need a modern item window pic of this item.

We could use a pic of someone wielding this item.

But now its not worth questing. For about the price of the platinum bars (well, a little more), you can buy a Centi warhammer (I paid 325 for mine, didn't bother to haggle). Not only is the ratio better (15dmg/32dly), but it has wisdom, strength, and stamina modifiers as well. In addition, it is much lighter than this anchor of a weapon, so doesn't suck your stamina down as fast (or contribute to encumberance as much).

Now, I'm not saying not to do the sol-ro armor quests, In fact My cleric was decked out in nearly a full set at one time, since the ac is nice, and the quests are mostly very easy. In fact, the bracers are very nice, and are the only piece of this armor I still use at lvl 44. This weapon, on the other hand, is not so hot. If you want to do the quest, purely for the satisfaction of completing all the sol-ro quests, fell free. But don't do it for the weapon.
Going Solo

Personally, except for all the downtime, I'd choose soloing over grouping almost any day. My cleric, although still young (15 atm) has her melee skills very near cap. Being a cleric isn't all about sitting back and letting someone else do all the work. I enjoy the challenge of soloing a mob. Better exp all to yourself for one thing. =) Besides that - what happens when the group manages to get overwhelmed and the only way you're going to survive is if you throw in some hits - especially if you're oom and the group is mostly dead? Granted, you can try gate or divine aura - but those are always a ready solution. I sit back and heal in my group - but I want to be prepared for anything. Use the class to the max potential, don't just have a seat and be mediocre. =)

Every Little Bit Helps...

For those who say the Cleric in a group should just Med/Heal infinitely, I have one question.

Why continue Meditating if you're FM when your group pulls something?

Add a little more to the damage and hasten the sucker's death- after the tanks land a couple hits, step up and crack the sucker in the noggin a few times until the prime tank is about to need healing. THEN back off and start the Heal/Med cycle.

Aggro? Notice I said to let the tanks get in a few shots first? After that, they should hold the mob's attention easily (unless your tanks are pitiful meelees, you're not gonna outdamage them to draw aggro). And if you're worried about the first Heal drawing aggro onto you when added to the meelee you did, well why d'ye think most tanks have a Taunt skill? Stand still so they can get its attention, then step back slowly out of range. Or, if you're high enough to have it, stop meeleeing a few hits earlier and fire Atone first to cut your aggro back down before you heal.

I've survived fights that had the Cleric from FM to empty in spite of solid Meditation between heals and left all tanks within a couple MOB hits of any given person dying. Why? Because that same Cleric who started at FM used his brain and helped to damage the thing before heals were needed instead of just sitting on his rump. The damage he added made the thing die a couple of rounds earlier, and that's all the time it would have needed to get at least one kill on us.

Every Little Bit Helps. A motto that's kept me alive more times than I care to count.

Just some food for thought.

After 30 I think it's about time to drop out of melee entirely. Granted, meditating when full mana is wastefull so thats why you drop a few stuns or an nuke on the mob and continue medding. Our pansey melee skills can't come close to our nukes. Not to mention when mob is stunned it can't do damage so this may actually prevent some healing later on during the fight.
If there is nothing there to fight, how about you renew some buffs? You should try to never be full on mana unless your camping a spawn (There are always exceptions of couse), otherwise all that time you're full, potential mana is draining away.
My point, melee is nearly worthless a cleric once you're higher. You do like 16-20 damage max per hit? The tanks hitting for several dozens at higher speeds with double attack and/or duel wield will put you to shame.

Thats BS sorry. Get a hammer of damnation at lvl 63 (lvl 63 summoned hammer). Top yer dex at 305 and add some decent shaman buffs and haste.
Train yer Fury of magic to max and then rock on melee. My hammer procs every 3rd hit (or miss don't matter) The proc is 150 and crits for 300.
Thats some SERIOUS dps. Granted most people have no idea bout the Clerics melee abilities with that baby. Yaulp 6 adds ft 12 haste and 75 dex as well. This means if you keep yaulp 6 up at all times you basically regen mana as fast as sitting on yer ***. You'll be a proc machine and laugh about the pure melee dps. Trust me on that. And friggin go duel the folks that tell ya to sit on yer *** medin.

100% agree! I play a battle cleric and I fight undead. A lot. It's what we're good at! I went to Unrest in my shiny new Lightcrawler armor (soloed them at 24th with little real trouble) with a wis of 132 and AC of 611 unbuffed at lvl 24. Went to 29th there entirely solo tanking 2 and 3 at a time.. how? Bought a Centi Warhammer and use my undead DD's and Word AoE's to finish everything off fast. I went to Lower Guk at 29th and haven't looked back. I Occasionally group with a mean Paladin and we just roll in XP and money. Simply nuke to pull and start swinging. DD during the fight and if the spell is interupted you swing. I hit for 30-40 usually. Cast again. With the paladin, he holds agro, I nuke, beat the mob, and heal when he's too low. Easy! I got more than enough money to buy 2 Velium Rings and am saving up for a Veil now. I will do the Ro quest for the bracer as Lighcrawler didn't have them and I can sell back my Runed Mithril to get the money for BOTH the Ro ones. DON'T just sit on your butt! DO something! A fight will last 6-18seconds before a heal is needed.. what is YOUR weapon doing?

Amen bro. I stopped meleeing after I got meditate at 8. I think the tanks would appreciate your 210 point nuke (at lv29) more than your 16 point hits.
TWINKS!

To the Guy that says any cleric worth his salt will just med, med, med, heal! LOL
so clerics never get jumped from behind while traveling, not to mention just to finish off a mob after root...nuke. Im so tired of all the twinks in this game putting equip down, im playing the game the way its suppposed to be played, by earning everything! and at 30 lvl this would be a nice peace of hardware 8)!
Not useful on PvP

No weapon can be looted from PvP. Only non-bagged inventory items and armor slot items, So unless you leave this in your inventory until you use it, theres no reason to have a no drop weapon on a pvp server just so it cant be looted
Good weapon

Good weapon for the mid level Cleric. Even better if you are able to get this in the low twenties.
No stats on it, but the damage is very nice.
