So apparently when the NPC wields this sword it can fear players?

Terrorize animals means it fears animals. . i'd have thought the effect was pretty self explainitory. . .And just suppose you turned yourself into . . .say a bear (like a shaman can), you would still be a player. . .so the short answer is: No, it will not fear a player.

It does fear players when she wields it actually, according to several accounts.

This drops off of Elishia Blackguard very rarely, in my experience. She is one of the two named female humans who pops at the Poacher camp and she is dark blue to a lvl 51. I've killed her perhaps 10 times, and only once has she had the sword.

Of course that one time a griffon aggro'ed the fight and I didn't get the weapon. But it did proc on me once in the fight (which is why the griffon was able to get in there). When it did proc, I got the "you lose control of yourself" fear effect, and ran away for 15 seconds or so until it wore off. By that time, she had ran into the timber griffon, and since I had her down to 20% or so, it was easy for the griff to finish her off. Oh well.

I didn't know she would sometimes have a weapon like this, so the effect surprised me. Now I know... I already have a great weapon, so I wouldn't have actually used this one, but it would have been a nice trophy.

As a Ranger, my low level Panic Animal takes very little mana, and works well against all critters in JP, so this sword's proc wouldn't be any better, and it would be random in it's effect. For those that don't have access to a Fear/Panic spell, this would be a great wep!

This has a 4% increased chance to proc over the default proc rate of weapons (according to unknown070 value).

Bonus Damage?
# Jul 31 2002 at 4:22 AM Rating: Decent
How does the bonus damage work on this weapon? Anyone know?

Damage bonus is player dependant, as Grunter stated. It does not add to the damage statistic of the weapon, but rather is a direct bonus to damage. For instance, with a damage bonus of 4, you will not hit for less than 5 damage mainhand; it will not make a Lamentation 13/19.

Two-handers use the same formula if they have a delay of less than 40, above 40 the damage bonus increases quite rapidly, with a component that is level dependant as well.

That's not correct Psmongin.

The dmg bonus is added to the potential max dmg you can do. However it's still possible to hit for only 1 point of dammage.

The formula for 1handed weapon dammage is as follows

weapon_dmg * ((strength + weapon_skill)/100) + dmg_bonus.

The result of this formula represents the MAX dmg you can do with the weapon. It's still entirely possible to only hit for 1 dmg.

Yes you can still hit for 1,but only when you hit with your secondary weapon.

Because damage bonus is only added to primary hits, and you will never hit for 1 anymore once you reach lvl 28, and get a dge bonus of 1.

I can't hit for less than 12 with my mainhand, that's a fact.

Agreed, on my warriors 2H Mith, I have hit for 1point before and she's level 38. but compared to lvl 29 when I first got the damage bonus, I'm noticing I do hit harder with it.

Damage bonus for a noraml 1 hander is (level - 24) / 3 so whoever looted this was somewhere around 48-50 level wise.

For 2 handers the formula is way differenr, but as I play a bard mainly I've never looked for how its calculated.

Drops off of Elishia (sp) Blackguard, named female human who pops at the Poacher camp. She is blue to me at 55, is straight melee, and could probably be camped by a full group of 45-50s with a good deal of ease. My first night out there, two dropped, one each time she died. One rotted because no one else really wanted it.

As a Ranger who uses fear kiting to pass the time between groups, I had high hopes for this weapon. The proc, on testing, is superior to Panic Animal in duration, and went off an average of 3 times per fight for me at 140-150 Dex. However, as a Ranger, this weapon is now banked. The proc will not overwrite your Panic animal spell if you are using it, and relying on the proc is akin to counting on Swarmcaller to proc early; its nice, but it won't happen reliably.

For non-Rangers, this weapon is probably of a bit more utility. All in all though, it is more in the nice toy category than majorly useful weapon, at least for myself personally.

Camped by a full group of 45-50? You've got to be kidding. I've been soloing her and all the rest of the named at the poachers since lvl 44 as a druid. The only one who gives me any trouble is Yranik Blackguard who hits hard over and over and over very quickly. He always seems to pop when the charm breaks on my pet. Go figger.

The sword is plainly visible on her when she has it.

One weird thing, though, is that the fear effect will affect players. The first blow dispelled my Greater Wolf FOrm, and subsequent blows had the "you lose control of yourself" fear effect, which I never managed to resist despite being 52 with resists in the 40s to 70s.
