Is this clickable from inventory by other classes say a Beastlord? would be a GREAT item for us if it was because our slow is resisted easy enough... just wondering
Sadly, no. On our last VT raid, all of the mages and shammies there had this, so I got it to test this theory. It doesn't work from inventory if you're not a SHM or MAG. (I'm a WIZ.)
Having spent endless hours in VT, and i must say that this is the most absolute boringest zone i've ever had the displeasure of adventuring through.
However, VT is a necessary evil in gearing up for the Elemental Planes. The resists and AC on most of the items dropped in VT are still much better than the majority of the items dropping in Teirs 1-3. I'm not saying that ALL of the loot that drops in VT is better, just the majority. Another thing about VT verses POP is that in VT, named mobs drop 4 items of loot everytime, verses POP dropping an average of 2 (not counting spells or parchments). This is a whole lot better average of raid to loot ratio (which our guild currently uses to determine winners on loot). This allows a guild to gear it's members up faster than through PoP while at the same time make them more effective in PoP.
Overall, this item would be a tremendous item for anyone to have in their ******** Shaman vs. Mage, well, that depends on the guild and the player. I myself being a 65 Shaman (maxxed on all melee stats) could definitely use the item but most of the time i'm Malos'ing then slowing, not worrying about lowering their resists even farther. Once they are slowed, i'm to busy Canning and healing (and that goes for the other 7 Shamans in our guild that are VT keyed). Our Clerics are all maxxed at FT 15. Throw a Bard in the Cleric group and some C5, they would rarely go LOM and would have to ask for Mod Rod even less.
Since Mages, along with Wizards and other high damage DD spell casting classes, generally have to wait for the tank to get a good aggro on a mob before being able to nuke, this neck item would a great item for their ********
So, even as a Shaman, i would be more inclined to let a Mage have the item. Most of the guild mages i know are not even close to maxxing out melee stats and this would be a great item to help them be more durable during those long fights.
Mages, unlike Wizards, do not get Lures, so our nukes are resisted much more often, until we Mala them. This item (along with the Veil in PoTime that does a similar effect) is a must have for mages.
No, many guilds reached the elemental planes while gearing during lower tier PoP and didn't even step a foot in Ssra
********* Two ways people get into the EP.
1) They go thru Luclin, maybe not VT, but Luclin and that includes waxing Cursed, emp, XTC AL and HP quite a few times.
2) They ride in on the backs of some already EP geared people on a zerg wave. And even then, 99% of em are gonna hit Ssra targets cus they can get more upgrades than in tier 1-3 PoP.
Something of note: The majority of these guilds that zerg PoP and skip luclin fail, period. They get to EP and people get discouraged because over half the raid force has resists that suck *** and they wipe time and time again.
You wanna build a solid raid force? VT is THE way to do it. We started FRESH on MR server in April. We started doing KD raids, ToV, NToV, Ssra and are now in VT a mere 7 months later. We have yet to have over 40 people on a raid and we kick *** in VT. Our main tank is 11,500 hp buffed and I am 6300 hp buffed as top necro. My lowest resist is 207. http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=996650
For the effort it takes, you CANNOT beat VT gearing for an entire guild.
Oh ya, those PoP encounters are a complete JOKE for us, we've cruised thru tier 1 and are working on tier 2 with zero failures, took us a whopping 2 weeks with our VT gear.
excuse me you have no idea what your talking about. Some guilds Sol Invictus on the Tribunal for example never stepped into VT. Its not always how good your gear as much as how well you play your character and how everyone in your guild works as a team. Its all strategy. Its just easier because the better geared you are the less perfect you have to be in an encounter. So before you go flaming people get your facts straight. Oh and Sol Invictus is the #1 guild on our server and raids anguish now and they still have never been to VT.

Posted:Aug 27 2003 at 3:27 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) haha, I know you all like this subject. But honestly, once none of your mages / shammies in guild don't want these anymore and they are about to rot, then let monks have them. Those babies are clickable from inventory and don't you all love incoming mobs that are already maloed?
I acutaly use this item more then the higher lv malosinia spell. reason 1 * the higher lv spell is only 10 points higher on the resistances lowerd. reason 2 and i have no idea why but the neck seems to be resisted less by mobs then spells cast by me go figue. reason 3 boy talking about the mana saving not having to use my main mana pool for debuffs. And any mage and or shammy in a high lv guild who has access to VT should gain access to this item. Good hunting 65lv mage Bertoxx server Agaloth aloft
Slight rant here. Why do classes that can't cast tash get orb of tashan, but only classes that can cast malo line get this effect? Ya, I know, orb is melee. So what? Make this melee and give a raid force that doesnt have a mage or shaman online atm a chance ffs.
because Tash in only MR, and draws major agro, while the malo/mala spells debuff mana resists, and are extremely powerful.
Assuming you gave this to other classes as a click effect, you could eliminate the use of shamans and mages for this task, not exactly something you want to do if your trying to balance classes. you notice there are no click tash items, only procs.
What do you people do all day? "This Item favors Shaman over Magician blah blah blah blah." I've read a fair share of these post, and almost in everyone someone says this item is made for this or that type of character. MONKS! You are the worst offenders in this. Just because a item has stats that are advantageous to monks doesn't automatacly make them Monk item. I sure warriors would like them too.
This has lead to some really stupid arguments and alot of wasted space (as does this post, come to think about it.) I'll stop here.
Hey Graushopper, this is a shammy, magician item. Period. You need'nt speak for us monks and warriors. We can do it just fine ourselves. Thank's all the same. By the way, you may want to look closely at the thread; there are no comments by anyone about "monk, this, monk that", so stuff it pal.
Would have to say this SLIGHTLY favors a shaman over a mage, and thats only because of the +15 sta. That means more hp for canabalising. HAving said that I am 1) never going to see someone who owns one of these, let alone see one drop, 2) not an expert on either class, and 3) happy that EITHER class gets such a great item.
Of course, very VERY few mages or shammy's will ever get the chance to get one of these, so who knows how one of these elite guilds decide who gets it.
This item is good for two things. 100 hps/mana but the main thing is the effect. Adding spell effects to items is a lot nicer than most think. It frees up a spell slot and gives the user an unlimited amount of attempts to land malosini. Aside from that the sta maybe good for very few shaman but im pretty sure its very nice for mages. When fully buffed, i have 255 in all stats minus INT and Cha,so adding 15 more sta for me is wasted. I've never heard of a cleric being dedicated to a mage, a druid/shaman(with torpor) is far more suited for this duty. I personally have been on "Mod rod duty" In VT several times. ALL the named mobs in this zone have more hit points than the AoW so rods are highly desired. A little insight on VT while i'm here. VT is the single most boring zone in the game that takes days to clear and **** poor loot for the effort you have to put in to earn it.
Your forgetting that MAges now also cannabalize... modrods are better than cann, and useable by anyone. Its very common to have a cleric dedicated to the mage so he can rod down to summon more rods. (yes, this is much faster than both medding)
