I got this weapon the other day in VT. It dropped off a non-named, which is a rare in VT. The Shadow Tendril now has stats 10+ str 10+ dex 15+ agi 50+ hp 50+ Mana FR 10+ DR 10+. Can anyone explain to me how I factor in the Fire dmg 5 and the bane dmg 3 into the DPS calc?
3 years later, I hope I can offer some advice! Though something tells me you stopped regularly checking here after a year or two ;).
I believe bane damage is directly added to the dmg listed on the weapon. So for example this weapon, with 10/16 and 3 Greater Akheva DMG would be 10/16 against normal mobs, and simply become 13/16 against Akheva. Nothing fancy, just a straight forward change in damage.
Fire DMG is a little different. Lets say that with buffs and level and so on, that your regular 10 DMG weapon has an actual damage max on the mob of 100 (I.e as the messages of you DPSing the mob floods by, you notice that 100 is the max damage you do). Lets also say that an identical 13/16 weapon (with no fire DMG mod) does an actual damage max of 130. The fire DMG on this weapon therefore has the potential to do up to 30 damage by itself. What makes it less useful than a 13/16 weapon though, is that the 30 extra actual damage can be resisted, or partially resisted just like fire-based spells. I don't know if the fire DMG is directly considered to be spell damage rather than melee damage (go try it out on a mob immune to melee such as emp ssra and see if melee does any damage), but i suspect not.
