How to combine the necessary components for the Eldritch Collective items can be very confusing. After many possible permutations, I have the steps to put these items together correctly.
1) You will need all of the components stated by the gnome wizard guildmaster. This includes the Tinkered Sewing Kit. (This list has been posted by other players in this item's forum.) 2) Purchase a LARGE sewing kit. 3) Purchase the necessary clothing. DO NOT buy SMALL cloth clothing items. BUY regular CLOTH clothing items. 4) Combine the components for the desired item in the Tinkered Sewing Kit. Click on combine. This will result in a new piece of material. 5) Take the new piece of material from the Tinkered Sewing Kit. Put it into the Large Sewing Kit. Put the desired item's pattern into the Large Sewing Kit. Press combine. 6) Your new item will appear!!! 7) Equip your new item and sell your old small cloth clothing items that are no longer needed.
The trick is that, unlike other "newbie armor" quests, you can't combine everything in the container the guildmaster gives you to create the new item. You must have the Large Sewing Kit and the Cloth Clothing items; not the Small Cloth Clothing items.
Hi, I'm about to begin this quest, but I'd like to know where to find the start up guy. I have a very hard time in our hometown, so if you have locs, or someone he's near that might be on the map, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
You will need to go to the gnomes' spellcaster guild (Library Mechanamagica). Go down the long hall toward the area with many merchants that leads to the path up to the bank. As you enter this area, look to your right. There is a chasm/ravine type of area. Go into this area. Climb the ledge path you will come to. The guild hall is at the top. You will find the guildmaster that starts this (wizard guildmaster) in a room with a door. There will be another guildmaster there also. Use the keywords to start the conversation. He will provide you with the Tinkered Sewing Kit, patterns for each item, and list of components needed to make each item.
This list is in more detail on one of the other pieces, but I thought I'd add it in breif to the rest. For more details, look at the Eldritch Collective Initiate Bracer, message name "drop" by "mikeagne".

page 1 from Galorin page 2 from Faeeron page 3 from Diloperia page 4 from Halorniop These pages give you the caster's book. According to another poster, the gnome camp is in Steamfont at -1160, -1760. They are all level 10, and do not agro. As I have not looked for them yet, I cannot confirm this. Just thought you'd like to know.
Why can't Verant make newbie caster gear with a decent AC or HP bonus? These are the areas where INT casters are really lacking and need the most improvement. Most folks have enough INT and mana after putting in their bonus points. Adding more doesn't make sense.

If you were me and I were you, would we still be friends?
I'm confused. I did this and got all the stuff and now I have a square item that says its the BCI material. I'm a 7th lvl Gnome Mage, do i need to do something else or do i have to wait until a certain level or what? The "material" isn't doing me any good. :\ (Frustrated)
You need to combine the BCI material you just made with the pattern he gave you when you asked him about the bracer. I would guess you can do this combining using a sewing kit as it's a non-metal material - Bards use a forge as their newbie quest armour is Plate. If the looms were working, you'd be able to use them too.
Bah...Just found out that it is not lore. I can have two of them? Now I have to get all the stuff for the bracer again. Oh well...Stats are good though.
Yes, you can. However, be warned that the material to make the bracer is lore. I had two sets of ingredients, made one bracer material, then went ahead to make the other, did the combine, lost the ingredients, but didn't get the material to make a second bracer because it was lore. If you want to make two bracers, finish the first one completely before making the second material.
Stuff like this used to be an hours camp for a mid/high teen in the bad old days... when bronze armour or gold jewelry on any char lower than 20 was considered 'excessive twinking' by some people. :o)
