Plain and simple

Plain and simple fact is that if you have ever played an ogre warrior or a troll. The you know that the mob if cornered can be pushed over top of you and then loose your agro. Poof goto into skeleton form which is an instant cast and you are small enough to corner a mob.

What makes this work 300k??????

I'm so confused
RE: WHY?????
# Aug 03 2005 at 5:10 PM Rating: Decent
This item has LOTS of useful properties, because of these features
1) instant cast
2) inventory clickable
3) effectivly shrinks large races
4) remove unwanted shrink
5) remove stupid jester illusion
6) works in most zones
7) looks cool

If your ever debuffed for any reason (IE pvp or raid mob), you can insta click this bad boy to get a junk buff back on you... so that the next "debuff" wont strip a good buff... instead it removes the skeleton form, which you can simply insta click on again, even while running.

Since this is inventory clickable, you don't have to swap items in and out to click... which means you can re-click this VERY fast without having to sacrafice stats/hp by acutally equiping it...

If your an ogre or troll, you can use this "shrink" to a normal players size... very helpful in a tight dungeon.

If someone shrinks you, and you don't like that... you can click this item to remove the shrink.

Lots of people hate jester illusions, click this and you can remove any chaotic jester illusion.

Lots of other clickies like SHM sow boot, or levi shield cannot be used in many zones... this item works in nearly all (if not all) zones.

Ohh and did I mention it looks cool...

4) no longer removes shrink due to DoD mobs having DT illusions. Illusions no longer canx shrink.

Because they are a relatively rare drop, and lots of people want them.

Basic supply and demand.

Its just something fun, for people with lots of plat, and nothing to spend it on.

Sometimes someone casts Shrink on me at an inconvenient time. If I can't zone and there's no shammy around, this illusion removes the shrink. I expect it will be similarly useful with those irritating Jester size modifications.

Last night I was on a Fear raid with my guild to epify some people. It went well, we killed all 3 golems and 2 of these dropped. I have one of them and would like to sell it. My current asking price is around 300k. If you're on Morrell-Thule and would like to buy it, please send me a tell or respond here.

I think 300k is a bit much regardless of your server and considering that most of these mobs can be taken down by one or two groups.

Regularly I have seen this for 150k on Zeb.

AON's sell for 300k and up on ZEK... They are excellent for PvP.. in fact any clickable instant effect is a must to keep buffs from being dispelled. Plus the fact that the skellie illusion does make targeting difficult... f8 i thought was for targeting the nearest NPC not the nearest PC. At any rate 300k is a good asking price for it. I wouldn't ask for less.
Even on raids for mobs that dispell or dummy buffs pvp server or not its a good item to have.

The reason because people want to have this is ...
# Oct 04 2004 at 11:13 PM Rating: Default

1) It has a great Raid value in being an instant clicky item with a "buff" that doesn't get overwritten by any raid buffs.

2) Illusion items generally has a high affection value amongst High end gaming players. They tend to collect these things since there's so little left in the game actually. This is what u can call an Utility item along with Pegasus feathered cloak, J-boots, Manarobe/manastone, resist Flowers (aura of petals), Weapons with slow/snare procs, etc...

3) As mentioned in some of the previous posts players on PvP servers might have the positive effect of being harder to target. Yes u do have F8, BUT then you will have to constantly position yourself to have that person as the closest one. As I am from a blue server I cannot tell but I would think F8 has little value in a PvP fight consisting of more than a few people.

Would I like to have one ... ofcourse. I've tried to run around in sebilis with 10 people roaming the "streets" in skellie form. That's a great laugh. - And yes I would happilyu pay the 300k it sells for on AB server ... IF I had 300k.

One other reason has to deal with Soloing casters and horses. This is info from my 65 necro friend. He explained to me that when casters need to cast, it takes a few sec for a horse to come to full stop when running. This delay can be fatal if soloing. With the insta click cast that changes your form, you come to an instant stop allowing you to cast on the mob without a delay.

# Feb 25 2005 at 1:49 PM Rating: Default
hmmm...one could just click his drog or horse off at anytime he wanted to stop...i dont see how this item helps that arguement
RE: The reason because people want to have this is ...
# Jul 18 2005 at 3:29 AM Rating: Decent
cause then he would have to re click the bridle to get the horse with chances of interupting
RE: The reason because people want to have this is ...
# Aug 18 2005 at 8:46 PM Rating: Default
Soloing while on a horse isn't the smartest thing to do anyway. Since horses and drogs take a while to get moving and to stop, why would you want to try and solo on one? Sure the mana regen helps, but it's less efficient. Remember, efficiency is not only how much work was done, it's also how much time you take.

I am a lvl 70 necro on Tunare and I solo all the time while I'm on a mount. For efficiency reasons I use my drog because if I'm not on it I don't regen mana as fast, and as all casters know mana regen is god when soloing. If you don't have the mana you die. If you practice at riding on a mount and kiting around mobs you find it isn't that hard of a thing to do. This also means less downtime medding for the next mob and in effect less time taken which means better efficiency.

If you're a solo-kiter THIS is probably the single best reason to spend 300k+ for an AoN. A while back there was a bug in the game which allowed you to insta-stop a running mount. I forget how it worked, but it was INVALUABLE for quad-kiting as a druid. Then one patch they nerfed it.

If skelly illusion truly does stop your mount instantly, without dismounting you, then at least for quadders and other kiters who engage in challenging enough fights that mana can become an issue, this item would pay for itself in faster xp in a few weeks, maybe less.

You can cast it form inventory (no -100hp then) and its a INSTA click (Aka helped with anything that PL's buffs)

Also on PvP servers skeletons are harder to target and you can't see aa titles of people in skely form.
Easy?

So I got one to ride the horse... used to use woodelf but thats a 6 second cast everytime you zone before casting 3 second horse...

Looks like I need to start hitting ol' Fear!

I'd been noticing people shouting "WTB Amulet of Necropotence," but no one ever had a link. So I hop on my reliable Allakhazam's and wow.

I'm a RolePlayer and a dualboxer ... Have been for ages. This has tremendous Roleplay Value for me. Instead of having a bickering Ogre and Halfling Pair... I could have an Ogre and his loyal Lich. Time to start saving the Raid points.

As far as paying all that plat for one of these ... never could bring myself to do it with that pair... that and I'm lucky when I've got a few K. Doubt the Ogre will ever see hundreds of K. Will just save up the Raid points.

NOTE: -100 HP isn't an issue for 99% of the people who would use this item. This item is valued for the Illusion which can be done from inventory... not the stats. (If you are using it for the stats on E'ci ... Let me know I'll find you another +Int +MResist neck that doesn't have the -100HP ... then we can make a little trade Iron Amulet of Unseen Horrors.)

Drops from Fright too
# Oct 17 2003 at 9:41 PM Rating: Good
Dropped off of Fright Wed night. He should be added as one of the mobs that drops it.

Also on Vallon (PVP) this item is worth 200+ K for several reasons, including being hard to target in pvp, avoiding detection as a healer (or any class for that matter) in mass pvp, the insta clicky (ALL/ALL inventory usage) for dragons of course, and another couple of even better reasons, which I'm not going to list here becuase it will just hasten the nerf which i'm sure is incoming. As a hint, you would find this item especially usefull if you were in the horsey set, or you enjoy wall climbing.

# Sep 01 2003 at 7:10 PM Rating: Decent
One interesting thing about this item is that when you are levitating, and cast this... it raises you up a foot or so... you can click it over and over and over and over, it raises you quite high, but eventually you will reach a cap.. I've seen my shm friend lev / illusion up the side of a building.

Another fact is that you can ride a mount with out any race graphics turned on, just need the elementals/mounts turned on.

So...
Lets say a level 1 PC puts this puppy on... Hp is say.. 30. Ok so if HP is 30 and the item removes 100 HP, You'd would die right? So your dead and you come back, only these days, when you die you come back with all your stuff on, so you'd die immediately, and so on and so on...

Any validity to this hypothesis? I think some brave soul with one of these in their inventory should try it out

Sony fixed that, if you die and your hp are negative upon respawning it 'de-quips' the item so you aren't caught in a death loop. People used to give the -35hp Ulthork tunics to newbies to watch that happen =P.

Actually, I was curious about that sort of thing, and was bound to die in a fight with a character that had +HP on it. So I took it off, and immediately died.

It would be funny to see if that does happen with the amulet, though. An eternal death loop.

Ok, here's the deal on this item, verified by me just seconds before posting this message.

The illusion does the following:
*Makes small races bigger
*Makes big races smaller
*Changes your night vision
*Gives you an excellent insta-click item that works in any zone

The illusion does NOT do the following:
*Modify any stat in any way
*Modify any resist in any way
*Regen mana or hp in any way
*Change faction (that I have noticed so far) in any way - green skellies still attack me when meditating

The illusion *may* do the following (not yet verified):
*Makes you immune to frontal melee stuns
*Impresses the wood-elf honies in Gfay

I have to admit that I felt a bit guilty for rolling on this since I am one of the few non-greedy, non-loot whores, and strictly believe in NBG. I rolled on it only when I overheard that it may eliminate frontal melee stuns. This alone would be an incredible boon to any non-ogre tank, especially hybrids that are forced to cast during melee. If it holds true, I would value the item at well over 100k (80K just for the stun reduction, 10k for the insta-clickability, and 20k for the illusion coolness factor). Personally, I would never sell this thing if it can eliminate those freaking annoying (and sometimes deadly) melee stuns.

My EQ karma was high the night I won this. I was the very first person to roll (0 1000), and rolled a 998 straight up. I let everyone in the raid use it before it found a permanent place in my inventory.

The right click effect does NOTHING except give you skeleton form. You still eat and drink as normal, you don't get a resist boost, you don't get the hp/mana conversion from Lich, you don't get jack. Also this item does NOT make you kos in places at least no places I have found. Your faction remains the same as it always is.

The item isn't just a toy though, it's a very, very nice junk buff. The effect can be used indoors and outdoors (unlike JBoots). It has an instant cast time and is useable from the inventory. Also the effect won't be overwritten by typical raid buffs. So next time you are fighting a mob with AE dispell get your skele illusion in the first slot and you should have no problems.

Happily paid 40k on The Tribunal for this item.
