AoN only drops from CT during classic and kunark. once Velious unlocks the AoN is moved to the 3 golems loot table.
Killed Dread today and had 3 AoN's drop from him. then terror added 1 more. Fright had none.

Wizards don't need any of those mobs for their 1.0. The broken golem is the wizard epic mob and it needs to be activated by a wizard with the gear from Kandin Firepot, then it becomes an Enraged Golem and can be damaged.

I have had many of these rot. I try and catch them up when I can for the AoN's and I run 3 toons, all of them have the ball of everyling golem and have had lots of them rot.

When im riding my AA horse with my Pally, its very handy to use this. Im at full speed and then i need to stop, right? The AoN is the best use to stop your horse with one click. On the Rathe the common price of the AoN is 25K. Coming back to EQ with 25K and then buy the item you always wanted. That just makes my day.

It always bothers me that nobody ever mentions the absolute best use of the AoN. For Wizards at least it makes it very easy to use a horse while kiting. If you have a Seru/Emp speed horse, slowing down and stopping to cast isn't that easy. Well have you ever had an illusion cast on you while on a horse? You stop dead in your tracks! So if you are using a horse to kite, all you do is click your AoN--you stop dead--and you start casting. No interrupts!

at wich lvl is AoN mobs soloable?
it depends on what class you are. I'm pretty sure that the golems could be soloed by a late 60's or 70 monk if he had good enough gear.

How do you figure? They won't be able to solo the golems because they'll instantly be death touched. I downed Fright today easily on a 75 Ranger but only because I had my friend come with me to run it and eat that DT, then I went in and murdered the thing before the 30 second timer was up on DT.
And yes Fright dropped me my AoN! :)

It's not a 30 sec spawn timer, it's like 10-15 secs.

It's not 10-15 seconds per death touch, it's 30 seconds exactly.
Last I knew monks were the only class that could solo besides one that could DA because their FD can block/avoid the DT to some effect. That's how I figure.

Amulet of Necropotence is nice but every halloween there is the events. During that even you can get a quested "bone mask of horror" which has a clicky of "frost bone" and that turns you into a skelly too. The quest starts in a serics in Kithicoor forest from a little female halfling that asks you to get some baked goods. She can be found right next to the zone entrance near rivervale. After like doing 5 quest in a row you can do the final quest. It's a nice for those who can't pay the price of the AoN or can't get one of the Golems down. I looked it up at alla's but the item isn't listed so as soon as I can I am gonna send one into alla's. I didn't realize it wasn't here till I did a search.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you thought you heard was not what I meant.
this is basic skeleton tho, the holloween quest is "ice bone skeleton" which has a slight blue tint to it, and AoN has the instant cast, which people like instead of waiting the oh 5 seconds for ice bone :P
Instant clicky, 5 second clicky for the same thing only it's blue.. What makes the difference.. No difference to me then wood elf clicky head item.. You fight the same, it does nothing to boost stats.. Only you look different and the halloween mask & wood elf helm are free and a lot easier to get..

Actually when I was in my 50's I was soloing ice Giants in Everfrost when a level 70 necro cam and took over my camp. I sent a tell to him and he told me togh, it was his camp now. I waited til he pulled all 3 ice giants and had snared them and then I used my Tolan's legs to dispell them. It was a lot of fun watching the necro die, he even asked me fopr help. I think he could not figure out why every time he would snare one the others would break free and beat the crap out of him. I know I will get flamed for this, but most of the mobs the snare or root on the mob can be broken by any type of the cancel magic series. Rangers and some other classes also have bind sight spells that allow you to cast from another player, so you can make the necro seem like he is the one breaking the root or snare. For the record this was an isolated case as most of the higher level people I have met are very nice; but if someone tries to be a jerk let them pay the consequences.

the golems on maelin r always up, cept for terror of course. I go to pofear every time i play figuring hey maybe terror will be up. But Fright and Dread are always up cuz you cant solo them so you people who complain about AoN farmers, i have to say get over it? Its not hard to find a golem up. The 1.0s arent even good anymore and if u want an epic piece most farmers let em rot. itll take you 3 days to find a golem up at most if u chek every day maybe when u log on and when u log off. I really see nothing to complain about. And dont rant me i dont check posts that often i prolly wont see it, im just very bored right now. I dont perma-camp em just camp em every once in a while.
I know that on my server, people dont always solo them either, they box 2 or 3, sometimes 4 chars if they are bored. Plently of people "solo" all three. They even sell the rights to loot the epic drops. And dont say just buy the looting rights, not all of us can afford things like that.

Someone was saying that the Amulet of Necropotence was being nurffed at next patch (patch past 11/11/06) changing it to a quest instead of a drop? I looked on EQ players.station site to read anything about this on the forms, but did not find anything. Could someone link the site where they discussed this so I can read up on it? Or any information you can give will help. I can see them making a quest. But how would this affect the older ones or will it? I can see them moving it to a tougher mob but leaving it the same ….all/all and trade able…

i know there are those people out there who farm the AoN to sell, but not ALL of us do. the AoN was the first clicky i ever saw, and have wanted one since then (and i love illusions, so....) now going to PoHate, PoSky, and PoFear all in one night, to help some firends get their epic, we killed just about every epic mob in those 3 planes, and an AoN dropped. My luck being what it is, i figured i'd go for it, just for the hell of it, and i won!
(yes, this was a long drawn out story to tell you all that not everyone who has these/kills golems is a farmer, so dont judge =D)O

(All you AoN Farmers can kiss my Elven rear, most of which I have encountered are in the guild PoN (Nameless Server). I have made 59 trips into Fear for my Shaman Epic Tear only to find an Golem up 2 times and lost the roll on one and the other was Ninja looted by a Shaman Named Neverender from the guild Neverender Dragons who looted and said *Ooops* forgot we were supposed to roll.
And for you sorry end gamers you are just as bad with this crap about how it is a very useful insta-clicky junk buff to prevent you from losing your good buffs when mob casts dispell / annull (sp) spells. That line is so full of holes it aint funny.
Like the people telling you how they solo'd a certain mob in there pajama's cuz it is so easy and when mob Soandso aggro;s on the caster I switched in this weapon real fast to gain aggro back to save the caster ... HAHAHAAHHAAHa !! The Weapon is an COMBAT PROC idiot when the time comes that you can WILL your combat proc only weapn to proc exzactly when you want then you are not END gamer you are done .. leave go else where.
Back to the very useful for junk buff crap-line ... before you start your Flameage which I could really careless about 1)Buff the hell out of yourself ... 2)Stand in the corner with all your insta clickies ready and cast Annul / Cancel magic on yourself 3)Then hit your bullcrap insta clicky of choice, 7 out of 10 casts all your good buffs will be gone and all you will have left is the junk ones.
Dispell / Annull / Cancel magic spells are not picky about what freaking spell buff they hit ... nor do they ONLY dispell your very top spell buff. If you buffed yourself and casted cancel magic on yourself to test it you will see a random hit in generally the top 6 buff spots.
You know I have nothing against every sorry sack of lvl 70 wanting to run arund clicking their skelly crap. But be a decent player and yell out in channel that WOOT I scored my 50th AoN which I will Bazaar ***** for 300k and by the way the Ball / slime / Cursed / Piccalo is rotting at /loc ?.
If I had it my way the golems corpse would be locked from being looted unless a non- Epic'd player for the loot table which can be dropped is present. Including being at that stage in their epic where they need the drop, after they loot their item then your grimey sleezy scum bag farmin dirt bag can have at your AoN.

player dispells remove a set amount of "counters" worth of spells. Each spell having their own.
A lot of the mobs dispells have changed, depending on what content you are in. I can't think of any expansion in which it changed, nor can I think offhand of what mobs do the counters one. I recall Sontalak took the first 4, Nadox Innoruuk did the same, and even in oow, Odi in MPG removes them starting at the top of the list.

I know I will get flamed for this, but most of the mobs the snare or root on the mob can be broken by any type of the cancel magic series. Rangers and some other classes also have bind sight spells that allow you to cast from another player, so you can make the necro seem like he is the one breaking the root or snare. For the record this was an isolated case as most of the higher level people I have met are very nice; but if someone tries to be a jerk let them pay the consequences.

When I was a baby SHM I felt like I would never get my Tear because the mobs were never up to kill the farmers were aleays killing them..
I lucked out one day and got it. But I know alot of others who cant get their epic 1.0 because these mobs are farmed for the stupid AoN..
And wow there was a skelly clicky quest at halloween 2005 I have a free Skelly click and never use it

those particular spells go by "points" or "counters"
some buffs have varying levels of them, so you will see different ones dispelled.
However, some npc dispells don't care. Some strip xxx buffs, some strip the first slot, or first 4 slots.
and ya, people farming AoN's for junk buffs are full of it. That is just a nice secondary useage.
People farm it to sell.
Others buy it for the skelly illusion.

I agree. Besides I really don't understand the attraction of this item. Skeleton illusion? Big deal. For the cost of this you could buy a shrink device and have batteries for a lifetime. Or you could have gotten one of those illusion: frost bone masks when the quest was up. Or if your a warrior gwet cobalt bracers. Or you could just buy regular illusion potions. Or you could do the crown of deceit quest.
As far as the novelty of using skeleton illusion that lasts for a whole 10 - 15 minutes. I really don't understand it and certainly don't see how it is worth ruining someone else's chance at an epic drop. Fortunately I recently got all 3 demis and got 2 sk swords and 2 tears for shammys and a ball of everliving golem out of the thing. Made some folks really happy and certainly more rewarding that some dumb skeleton illusion.

first for the frost bone masks they only were questable for a short period of time. then they are also not insta click. all those items u listed could all together do the same thing, cept itd take a coupple of minutes, plus ud have to restock. then it is also a waste of space. bracer is warrior only since needs to be equipped. it also comes down to the fact that in the endgame you either spend ur cash on fun items or twinks.

I believe people like this because you can run old character models, and while in Skelly Illusion, you can use a horse. It's also clickable from inventory by all classes as stated above.

Note also Bards and Wars get their Epics off the DTing Mobs, That's even more epics to say STOP FARMING THE DAM MOBS.........I'm Gonna Kick the **** out of this 70 Necro on Tunare he's on 24/7 (makes a life selling pp, lazy fatso!) and he has his wife (you guessed it a ranger) track Terror and Fright down every hour on the hour to make sure that mob is down til he gets his epic (he has 550k and their's 2 for sale at 315k, I WILL SMASH HIM if i See Him Again!)
P.S.: If your wondering how he solos Fright he doesn't he has his wife Fire Nuke him as he casts snare, so she gets DTed and then he takes him down before the 2nd DT, Works better with Fright cause he DTs every minute, Dread every 30 secs.....
