I have this shield but I also have a Shield of Battle (13AC, +9 wis, +2 str, +10 mana). The shield of battle gives me more mana but the shield of falsehood has more ac. There is also the fact that I can sell the Shield of Battle (which I got for free anyway). Could someone help me out please?
umm.... the shield of falsehood has more mana fyi.... shield of falsehood is +30 mana, and you said shield of battle was +10....
yes, but shield of battle has 4 more Wis on it. At lvl 50 that would boost mana by around 40 if I'm not mistaken.

i bought a shammie off ebay and he has the shield of false hood how do i finish the quest from here?

After reading the posts, all I have to say is ROFLMFAO.
First you need faction with the dragons of Norrath. To do that, you need to kill the bears down in Permafrost. I'm not sure how many you need to kill, but I think a few is enough. Next, you need to see which dragon you are aligned with. If Lady Vox is up, GOOD! Go up to her and hail her and if she gives you the quest, you're set. However, if she kills you, you're on the wrong faction and you have to go to Solusek B and check on Lord Nagafen. Hail him. One of them will give you the quest. However, these dragons are killed a lot so the best bet is to park your Shaman either inside Vox's Lair (if you discovered Nagafen is against you), or park yourself at the room outside Nagafen's room (the one with the mouth structure). If you don't want to waste time, login another character to level a bit and ask people if the giants are up. If they are, you are in luck!! Login quickly.

The next step after the Shield of Falsehood is to obtain your Bracer of Worth. Go to Paineel (easily reachable via portal from Plane of Knowledge). Shortly after zoning in and emerging from the tunnel you'll see a steep cliff edge in front of you. Cast lev on yourself and start decending down the edge of the cliff. Make sure to keep your lev up as it's a nasty fall if you don't. At the bottom of the pit behind the large rock is an Elder Gnome Spirit.
Hail him, he'll blab something back at you, then say "I am worthy". He'll then look you over and if you're wearing enough uber equipment and have enough money on you (ie not in the bank - carry all your money with you) He'll reward you with the bracers. If he judges that you are not suffiently equiped, He'll cast you back to you bind spot naked. You'll have to go out and collect more stuff (ie clear your bank inventory) and try again. Eventually, you'll be deemed worthy and get all your stuff back. As I understand, equipment you are carrying in bags and stuff count also. This is definatly one time you want to make sure you are carrying all of you most valuable stuff with you.

Ok, the next step is to go to Karnor's Castle, and run around waiving your arms screaming "I'm an eBay lameoid!"
Then cast the spell Cannibalize over and over till you die.
Repeat until you reach lvl 1.
Then type "/petition I am an eBay lamoid. PLease delete my account due to my violation of the End User Licence Agreement I agree to every time I log on. Thank you."

...BAH!! ive been found out.
The negative dex on this shield really bugs me. I just dont understand the logic to it. Anyhow I have buffs to fix that but it still bugs me. The 16 ac is really nice for the shield. 5 wis 30mana makes it a little better then an 8 wis shield. To bad they didnt include any resists or I might have used the thing more often. Nice shield easy to obtain too if you ask me. The epic up to this point is real easy, It can be done soon as you get to lvl 14. Here are some easy steps to get the shield for you.
1) Get to level 15 that way you can die and not loose the ability to cast your lvl 14 spells.
2) Get the epic instructions on-line print them up to the test of might. I used eqshaman.com they have a great guide but any site will work. Get map of Rathe Mountains and Erud Crossing (and emerald Jungle)eqatlas.com good place as you need Loc commands, this will help you getting around.
3) Run to RM and ask someone (35+ tank) to help you kill named bandit Blinde the Cultpurse. Talk to spirit start epic.
4) Ask same person to help you kill Tabien the Goodly and Galron the Wicked. Careful these guys can be tough you might want to get 2 people to help you just incase. Loot shield "mars promise" and "Woe" and "Envy". put these in bank at freeport cause thats where you are headed next.
5) do freeport part of quest, use web resources.
6) get fish scales (10)and (3)bat wings, just incase, for enduring breath and levitate.
7) bind yourself in qeynos at bank and leave some batwings and scales in bank.
8) go to eruds crossing and do the test of patience, use web resources. This is where you use invis to animals, keep it all the time, as sharks that pass you will kill you pretty easily. I did this with/out a single agro. (might have to take invis to animals down to talk with spirit can't remember if you need to be careful)
9) Gate back to qeynos bank get your stuff and head to West Karana hunt down the wandering spirit finish test of wisdom dialogue to get Shield of Falsehood, use web resources.
10) PS dont turn in Woe, Envy, or Mars Promise until you are asked to, you might mess it up. and have to get them again.
I am unaware of any level restriction for this quest or to start epic. I guess you could do this at lvl 1 if you had the right support. Some sources say that the gem given to you after you get shield is No Rent, other say different. I dont remember it being No Rent, but if it is you have to go to Emerald Jungle and turn in the gem to the spirit in the ruins.
OK if you have to do this you only have to turn the gem in and do one dialog line to save quest then book it and get out of there as EJ is dangerous even to people at lvl 45. And mobs do run right over the spirit there.
(FYI I had to restart the beginning dialog with EJ spirit to get Dire boots. Just start like your turning the gem in for the first time and it will work just a pain that you can deal with later in EQ.)
At levels greater then 35 you might have something better, mine SoF just sits in the bank b/c I wont destroy it until I finish the epic, scared I might mess something up if I do. Better then a charred guardian shield b/c of the ac and strength. difference between 9wis and 5wis & 30mana is negligable.

The gem is not NO RENT - so after you get the shield don't worry about running to Emerald Forest
My lvl 35 Shaman soloed this part no problem. Don't bother caster DOT's on the guys in RM. Slow them sick your pet on them and then blast them with Winter's Roar. They heal themselves and can keep up with Scourge. Might want to buff yourself with endure magic as the one with the swords can hit for dd.

Good post my friend !! You need not worry about the neg dex part of the shield like you said but the neg CHA is a major concern for me. I noticed a big difference in spell resists and root breaking with just the neg 5 cha. Cha is 120 buffed without shield.

No way!!! I had mine at 33. Did the section in Erud's crossing with 3 friends, and the Mobs in RM with 2 friends.
There are bunch of mob that spawn the spirit.
I get my gem from halfelf in Rathe Mountain.
Was killing Cyclops when I noticed it is killing some named halfelf. Ran up to it, the halfelf died, a wolf spawn. Killed the cyclops, talked to the wolf, claimed I killed the guy and he threatened my life. DING DING, I was on my way to the first test.

My personal favorite is Peg Leg in Butcherblock.
Ok, this may not have much to do with the shield... but I just wanted to say to any shaman out there thinking about starting this long string of quests that become the shaman epic, its well worth it. This shield is the first of three rewards, but more importantly than the shield is the quest. Ever hear the phrase, life's a journey? Well thats what the shaman epic is... it's a part of the shaman life. After doing the first parts of the epic, (only went to the shield so far as my post under this one points out I'm only lvl 30) I learned so much more about what role we play in this world. We are Heyokah, and that's something unique... so play it up big. This game can be all about lvling or all about role playing... its all in how you play it. The rewards in this epic are simpley reminders of who we are. So, cary them as reminders, this shield being the first. :-)

Ok, I just turned 30th season and since this lvl is gonna take a while I figured I'd see what else I could do. So, I started my epic. My advice is get a friend for back up but you can do everything up to getting the shield at lvl 30 in my oppinion. Get your buddy to help you with the kills, do the test of patience on your own... no need to drag someone else through it (make sure to use invis animal and keep it up cause thoes sharks can be mean) And just follow the quest step by step till ya get the Shield of Falsehood. Then go back to lvling for a bit cause I hear that wolf for the next test is a conciderable jump up in lvl from what you've had to do to that point.

Okies in oot at 800 x -5600 is Capt surestout (green at 31) kill him by pulling him with a non AoE & Root DD ( DO NOT USE AOE DoT's) as soon as he falls a Lesser sprirt pops, floow the simple script, get a tiny gem, proceed to RM kill Tabian the Goodly & Glaron the wicked ( look up their locs I forgot)( I took a Warior 31st level with me Buffed/quicken Tank DoT/Slow on the MoB's, we lived & I looted Marr's Promise, then Envy & Woe, went thru hidden tunnel out front of West Free Port gate( not the one with drowned citizens) o find a Barb follow script give tiny gem )) he wants to drink, he leads ye off follow yada yada another gem to give, then off to Eruds xing hail Ooglyn the Ogre & give her the tiny gem, have on you & rdy for recast SoW, Lev, Enduring breath, (need 3 - 5 fish scales) & Invis to animals, (for the sharks) go to -1600 pos 4200 & go under water & wait at this loc, keep up enduiring breath & invis animals, first 3 spawns are fluff but cool to interact & read, stay put, Abe is Important, dont leave Yet NM what ye do, after abe is a greater spiritfollow the scripts & yes it can be done all alone at this point, after you get the Broken Arrow ( Abe)& the gem (Greater Spirit) then Gate out, go to bank Get your Mars Promis, Envy, & Woe, drop off broken arrow, go to WK to neg 500 neg 5300 wait for Wandering Spirit (max wait 30 mins) looks like a Willow wisp but when ye target it its a Wandering spirit Hail it, give it 1) the Gem 2) Marrs Promise 3) Envy & 4) Woe, all together ))) Smile & breath you have Shiled of Falsehood in your hands & a gem, your done, I did this at 31, a friend Rannma did his at 34 with me along at 31, for Company, this is firat of many steps, start early for this *** Recomend alone ye be 34 Shammie***

As a shaman, can I simply turn Envy, Woe, and Marr's Promise into the Wandering Spirit to recieve my shield? or do I need to complete the events of my epic leading up to that point?
Keep in mind I am an Innoruuk worshipping Troll Shaman.

It doesn't matter which race/diety Shaman you are, the quest proceeds in basically the same way. Each step pushes you on to the next one by adding to your Truespirit faction. You MUST do the previous steps to get your Truespirit faction high enough to get the Shield of Falsehood from the wandering spirit.

ok, this is long, but here goes,
kill pirate captain in OOT, talk to spirit, get gem
give gem to Bondl Felligan in NFP sewers, and then tell him he can buy booze, talk to spirits (2) in inn by bank, jade something or other, get noe gem
give this gem to oggyl, ogre on wisp isle in erud's crossing, follow her out in to middle of ocean, have lots of fish scales, wait till the ghost spawn, wait til they leave, wait til greater spirit spawns, get new gem
give this gem to wandering spiriyt in WK, go to RM and kill glarion the wicked and talbien the goodly, give talbien's shield and glarion's weapons, envy and woe, to wandering spirit in WK, get NO RENT gem that yoyu need to give to spirit in EmJ, ask wandering spirit about shield, you get shield (Special thanks to Ceggon and Birr for there assistance)
be forewarned, the last gem you get here is NO RENT, needs to be delivered to sentinel spirit in emarald jungle before you log out, or you will have to redo this, posssibly as far back as Bondl Felligan, i know he reacts to you can buy booze and resummons spirits in NFP
and fyi, Birr (50 troll warrior) died once, Shaedon (40-50 wizard) died once, and I (39 sham) died twice in EJ delivering the gem and am still not sure whether i got the next stage of the epic yet, cuz we had to evac out after corpse recovery

The gem you receive from the wandering spirit is NOT No Rent. Repeat NOT.
I just received my shield. I was out here looking at the posts and saw this - and just about freaked because I had already logged out. I popped back in to verify the information and found it to be untrue. Maybe they have changed this gem in a patch - but at this point in time, as of the date of this post, the gem is NOT no rent.

The gem is NO RENT... In a patch not too long ago, no rent items were made to stay within your inventory for 30 mins only after you log out or LD.. longer than this and it will be gone! I wouldnt risk it, get to the EMJ and get it turned in before anything can go wrong.

actually the other guy was right its NOT no rent, as i had my gem from the wandering spirit in my bank for a week or 2
I am up to the City of Mist in the Epic, and I've guided another young shaman through this part...none of the gems appear to be NO RENT. They are, however, all NO DROP.
