In reply to Tifferz, Yeah its' only 10HP more, and 2 stamina more than the solistice earring, but doesn't have the +5 magic, elemental resists, and at 5k or so for the solistice earring, that guy is never going to sell. Esp if your a hybriid, the Solistiec looks even better.. I was lucky enough to get mine as a drop, great even for rogues, I later checked in bazaar on Veeshan, they were selling for just under 10k
Earring has recently changed -- now you have to be level 51 to equip it. Should bring the price down (saw one toon on my server trying to sell four of them for 9kpp each). Have the plat, but will have to wait a few levels...
I was selling in trader mode in the bazaar and just saw someone auctioning this earring off for 25k. I looked at the stats and I guess with me being a caster I was confused as to why anyone would pay even 10k for this earring. So I looked it up on here to see what the big deal was and I am floored that anyone would pay what you say people pay for this thing. You can get the earring of the solstice for 3k on the tribunal easy....and by the way, that guy has been trying to sell this earring for 25k for about 3hours now...not a single bite. I asked him about it after reading the posts on this site. But then again, im just a caster so what do i know :oP~~~
Someone said that the Solstice earing was a better value - if you can get your hands on this one then you can afford the 3-5k for the Solstice.
I won this one as a 51 SK - it's giving me almost 100 hitpoints - and I've got the Solstice in the other ear with the FT1 - I don't think I'll be replacing either of these for a LONG time.
This earring is actually his common drop. His rare is a totally useless staff (forget the stats). We camp him regularly with a solid group of high 50's, low 60's. Good exp as well. Can invis back to planks and gravy.
Not that hard of a camp with right classes. Camped it the other day with 62 chanter, 62 cleric, 65 druid, and 62 warrior. He was up when we zoned in so we got down there and dropped him. Earring dropped and I being the warrior got it. We held the camp and low and behold first respawn was another diseased skeet. Another earring dropped. Made for one happy warrior.))
I would really sell this thing. I agree the PoTc earing is just slightly lower in HP like 30ish or so. Also earing of solostice(spelling) is more effecient and A LOT cheaper as well. If i'm wrong ohhh well. Just My opinon!
I got this item today and let me tell u that this THE best droppable melee earrings in the game! i had offers for 120k on Quellous but in not giving this bad boy up for the world :)
i totally agree with you up until the lizard bone.. great earing but what makes the mos leg so special is the combo of not just stam and hit points but stam hit points and ac.. 8 ac 7stam and 65 hp on an earring is a dream come true for a mellee.. good luck all
depends if you have your AC already maxxed. 10 sta on the lizard bone = 60 hp basically. thats a nice 130 hp earring with that in consideration, and the other stats are useful too (except cha of course)
I Just got this item today and this item is just too Uber to be sold! Any TRUE Warrior looking for an Uber earring this is the one! When i put on the earring it added something like 112 hp!! and its not LORE! I NEED another one of these earrings these things would sell for AT LEAST 100k
dropped today for my group. think it was the bard who won it. said it added 88total hp for him. this earring is InsaNe! non lore its a easy 200hp for both ears. sells for 60K in less tan 5min on Quell, he had offers up to 90k within 15mins of drop. omg i was so jealous!
Stats just ain't that great to be worth that kinda plat... I first saw it for sale for like 70k, I thought, "dang, must have a cool effect or something..." NOT... <sigh> Stats are pretty good for an ear slot but no where NEAR 70k good.
Ur a fool it's a ton of hp hp > ac stats attack anything. Because in the long runn it won't matter for a tank to do dmg but boy does it matter if u die!
OK it is one of the best if not the best earring in the game. Goes for 65k -70k on my server(bertox) and i had one and was being sent tells to buy the earing faster then i could read them. I totaly disagree that this is not so good of an earring. The stats on a earing piece like this is what makes it so good.
If you're going to waste 70k for this earring, don't buy 2, instead you can buy the earring of solstice which is Potc quest for around 15k. The stats on that ear are 5ac 5sta 8wis/int 55 hp/mana 5 sv c/f/m Sure you melees don't need the wis/int and mana but a 5ac 5sta 55 hp 5 sv c/f/m is pretty damn close to being a mosquito earring with good saves. at a much cheaper cost
I tend to agree with you ... The POTC earing only adds 23 less HP on my Warrior... PLUS the potc earing adds to resists...
I think the best bet would be to get 2 of these sell one for your 60k and do the potc quest... Then take the extra pp and look for a different item with more beneficial stats...
That's roughly 130 hitpoints for a warrior.. plus the AC... from an ear slot. That in and of itself makes it worth the price... factor in the rarity.. no question.

Posted:Jun 25 2002 at 10:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Think about the 30ac earring that drops in umbral plains....what melee would take one of these over that? This is a rare low 50's twink/main item that people pay stupid ammounts of plat for at best.
i know of very many high level melees in game that wear this and would even wear it over the 30ac earring. hp gets more and more important the higher you get. this is not a twink earring (noones going to spend 80k on an earslot item for a twink unless they just have silly amounts of plat).
I'm sure you would like to know that Furor, arguably the best tank around in the game, recently stated on the Steel Warrior website that, with the advent of Planes of Power, AC was certainly worth it up to at least 1800.
Said theory was confirmed empirically by several others players, who posted histograms based on comprehensive parsed logs, showing significantly altered probability distributions by increasing AC beyond the ostensible 1200 - 1300 'softcap'. Whether it makes sense to pump AC beyond 1800 is, as of yet, uncertain.
of course, take a look at the ornate and elemental armors the full warrior set would put you above 1200 easy and the dmg PoP mobs deal out was thinking the same myself but have not been able to research it as of yet.
If you want this earring, then either fork over the plat or get your own 58+ group together to camp it. This is my opinion of my experience in CT and seeing some of the items coming out of here.
Well...if you have been to even the zoneline of the new CT zone, then you would have noticed the insane lvl of these mobs. Let alone getting the group needed together to safely camp this zone for items like this.
I had a group of guildies, all char's 55+, at the zoneline with our guild monk pulling. With the new AI npc spell caster selections on the CT mobs, our monk died more often the not from just nukes. Two or three nukes = dead monk puller in CT.
If you don't believe the insane toughness of these mobs...get your avg xp group you use to take down regular blues, which is what these will con to you at 55 near the zoneline, and you'll see the level of difficulty in trying to kill just one. Get an add or two+ and you are either praying to sweet tunare your chanter can mez them w/o a resist or you are running to zoneline due to your chanter getting pounded or killed.
The avg zoneline groups from almost any other zone get owned here. Don't you think it's just a lil odd that most of the people posting about this earring and where it drops are all lvl60???
Just my 2cp...but if you think they are overpriced then get your best set of reliable friends and go "TRY" to make it alive to this camp btw and GL on getting it...lol Then you make the call as to just what kind of Plat you want for this item if you think it's that's easy to get them. :)LOL
hi guys, to get that earing, you need to camp well inside CT. Camping on the zone line is useless, the mob that drop it is not there. Today I camped it with a group of 59 to 60 and won the roll on it when it dropped (doesn't drop often too lol), so here I am happy. I am a 59 druid so I guess I will sell it. Lot of great drops in CT, but you need lvl 60 tanks melee to do it plus chanter plus someone to evac. Even then you will die with a bad pull 8) (advice to the druid no point using your fire line of spells ain't working on these, use cold damage if any8)
I have to be 60th level to camp the diseased mosquito and other Temple of Cazic Thule enemies? Interesting, that.
Using a decently equipped 55th level paladin tank, I have camped the ToCT sewers for Boots of Flowing Slime, Ring of Flowing Slime, Mosquito Earring, and so forth for entire evenings without any problems whatsoever. You need a good party, sure, but if you have the right character classes played by people who know what they are doing, you can handle yourself just fine with a 55th - 57th level party.
quote "but you need lev 60 tanks to do it" ::sigh:: And a druid rolls on it and wins.....And people get mad for warriors that roll on parchments. nbg is dead and gone in eq....
Yes, I know its great for everyone who can wear it. But for Iksars it would be great revenge for getting mugged by mosquitoes all those times at level one in the Swamp of No Hope.
1-3: FoB (do the curscale quest) 4-8: WW (off to the left of city, great hunting) 9-25: LOIO (keep moving out toward lake as you go up) 25-30: WW (giants) 31-40: OT (ledge groups) and FM (giants) 40-45: DL
This is for a class that groups. For soloists (DRU/NEC/WIZ) you want to spend 25-30 in LOIO and 35-40 in OT and then post-40, there are lots of guides.
There all camped by high level goober farming the good items to sell at overinflated prices to the people they have forced to hunt out side of dungeons.
/em Im not bitter just really want to see a trival loot code.

All Trivial Loot Code would do is force higher levels to pay overinflated prices for stuff they can't get to drop anymore. It would just reverse the problem.... Also the only things I find severly overpriced on my server (lanys) are high end items. Because of the fact that people can farm the low end items....

I think that whoever was keying these into the VI database got them backwards. This makes much more sense for the classes allowed on the spider fang earring and the spider fang earring makes much for sense for the classes allowed here.
Silly slot graphic for being a leg. Why not just have beetle leg graphic or something? Of course that would look stupid, but so should having a leg sticking out your ear.
Any guesses how one would think this as an earring? I figure the mosquito was bothering a silly dwarf who then smashed it against his ear, but who knows.
Hehe, if ye look a little closer, ye would see that leg the dwarf smashed in the gem, the chain is to loop around yer ear. This is really small so it would fit yer ear and not fall off.
Probably the best tank earring I can think of dropping in a non-planar or ToV situation. Granted this zone is hard, but the combination of AC8, +7sta, and +65hp adds up to be a nice mess of stats. Two of these is utterly ridiculous.
This earring is awesome but there are several outside the planes ToV that are very good, take a look at the Earring of Living Thunder that Vin drops in Kael.
but then,i guess that Vin is a bit harder to kill then whatever drops this. Vin still needs a (semi?)uber guild to be killed, while CT is tough, but surely not an overpowered zone

get 4+ clerics in CH rotation, lots of tanks with one main tank, and lots of dps. Cant be that hard. Well theres the other parts, like getting a haster to do everyone, and shaman to buff everyone, and paladins to add hit points, shorter the battle the better. Doable with 3 groups+ of level 60+... oh ya, get a FEW fd pullers (pulling one by one is a time sink). Entire raid should be as quick as 30minutes from telling people to get to kael, to pulling all the mobs up to Vindi, to killing him. Though average seems to be 1hr since there are LFG's in kael who want to tag along for faction, or late comers, or someone who dies (?) getting there and linkdeaths to take account for. I would say hes one of the easiest high level mobs out there considering it takes 5 to 10minutes to get to him from Plane of Knowledge, and faster if you have invis up.
only better earring droppable is the lizard bone/tooth earring that drops out of 4c camp in cazic-thule. its got 5 less ac and less stamina, but more pure hp which is key for high level warriors that have their stamina maxed.
