Classes: The Bard

Bards - the jack of all trades. Each level is a new song and a new way to play. Handy with a weapon and able to wear decent armor, bards can hold their own in a fight. Plus, the ability to twist two to three songs without using mana gives the bard a magical ability like no other class.

What are the strengths and weaknesses of the bard? Can they solo, and if so how? How should they best contribute to the group? What is the best strategy to develop your bard? What skills and songs are the most important for you to master? What equipment should you be trying to get for your bard.

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the bard and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Im looking for a new challenge in the game and have decided on a bard. A few questions to you experienced bards out there.

When can I solo?
When can I start to solo planes?
Any good guides out there?
Advice on pulling. EX: Do I need to just select a mob while lull song is on or re-sing it for each new mob?

Many Thanks,
Meter - 20 Bard
Tenzer - 60 Necromancer 18 AA
Rigby - 52 cleric

You can solo at level 12, or I did on my bard in paludal caverns shadeweavers side. Although you're a bit beyond that, I would suggest that you carry on grouping maybe in Highkeep, this is bacause you'll get exp faster than you can kite it and also since it will help hone those twisting skills you need to become a good bard. You wouldn't believe how many 60+ Bards I see just singing one song, and even then its not likely to be a usefull one (i.e villa's verses of celerity in a group with spell haste)

I took my bard to PoN at level 47 and solo'd there happily although it took a while to kill mobs. I grouped in Justice for a while but in the end went back to Dulaks Harbour (LoY expansion) and swarm kited there, exp is very nice there and I got up to 1/4 - 1/2 a level if I pulled a large swarm.

If you need to single target pull a mob with possible add's you need to target the mob and then start singing lull, you'll then get a message saying "soandso feels sad". Do all mobs that are likely to agro you on pull, then pull the mob you want.

http://www.EQDiva.com and http://www.dotnetdiva.com should help on guides.

Hope this post helps

Hello, here are few answers:

_When can I solo?
=> You can solo from lvl1 to lvl65 as a bard.
For the "kiting", you can start it from lvl2 (AE), "fear kit" at lvl26, "charm kit" at lvl27, and "chant kit" from lvl30 (but better when you reach lvl46: you can twist 3 dot songs).

_When can I start to solo planes?
=> You can solo planes at lvl46...(try PoN first with the spiders and treants), forget about old planes (Fear, Sky, Hate, PoG); you can try also PoMischief with is very nice xp (still at 65).

_Any good guides out there?
=> EQdiva is the best of the best.
I did a website for bards, but it is not really "up to date" :p
www.chez.com/legacyofaggression

_Advice on pulling
=> You have to sing the lull song on each targeted mob.

Hope this help )
