Classes: The Bard

Bards - the jack of all trades. Each level is a new song and a new way to play. Handy with a weapon and able to wear decent armor, bards can hold their own in a fight. Plus, the ability to twist two to three songs without using mana gives the bard a magical ability like no other class.

What are the strengths and weaknesses of the bard? Can they solo, and if so how? How should they best contribute to the group? What is the best strategy to develop your bard? What skills and songs are the most important for you to master? What equipment should you be trying to get for your bard.

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the bard and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Int is fairly important as it is what effects your mana pool and fairly hard to find decent bard equipment with a nice amount of Int on it.

Although thats a decent stat to focus on I would suggest stamina as much as possible, and then dex. Stamina effects your hp's and as a bard you often get song agro when grouped. Dexterity is important for your song fizzles (missed notes). And then charisma is also important as this will effect the chances of a mob agroing you after a resisted lull and so on.

Hope this helps a bit.

First off, on PvP you will want STA as high as you can get it. HP's are king! Next, DEX is important. A missed note in PvP can mean the difference between life and death. Anything else is gravy. INT is nice to have but not needed as much. You only have a few songs that use mana - and the first one doesn't come until level 39.

My own experience in PvP (admittedly awhile ago) was mostly using chants against other players. They cant run as fast as you can. Chants have a great range and use no mana. Occassionally, it was necessary to charm a mob or 2 and send it after a pet or the other player.

The other stats of greatest importance are Magic Resistance, Poison Resistance and Disease Resistance. Magic Resist is important so you don't get rooted or stunned by spells. That will get you killed. Look at your biggest nemesis - necromancers, shaman and druids. Necro spells are all magic and poison based (with a few disease based). Shaman spells are mostly poison and disease based (with a few magic). Druids are much the same. Of course, other bards are a serious problem. But most bard songs are magic based. Fire and Cold resists are important but Root (magic),Slow (disease) and Snare (disease) will do more to kill you. You can run away and zone if you cant handle the Fire and Cold attacks. Just to complete the set Enchanters are almost completely magic based casters.
