1. IIRC i hunted in gunthank/dulak. However i also kited in Crystal Caverns because at the time it was the hotspot.
2. blues are best usually since they use less mana to kill and wont resist as much
3. Dulak will offer good PP for your level, but you'd have to go careful, lvl 44 could be a bit low there

The Hot Zones are the way to go really.
If you can't kite (like Acrylia Caverns) just root rot with no pet. I would start in Acrylia now at 41. Mobs are level 44-46 at the entrance. Xp and money are great. (They don't drop coin but the loot sells really well to vendors)
