Sigh. I wish my school assignments would all go away so I would have time to play. All I've been able to accomplish since I returned was getting my WAR to 49.

Who is Byrth and why should I care? i ASK BECAUSE SOMEONE MADE IT SOUND LIKE HE WAS IMPORTANT, BUT i'M.........

Goddamn laptop and it's stupid Caps Lock button...

guessing that someone thinks he's important enough to justify the fact that he think he's important.

He has actually been pretty useful (important i dunno) to the community since abyssea, maybe Kinematics level in ToAU. If its who I think it is (Byrthnoth or something). He did a lot of compiling and testing over on BG for DNC stuff, and crit rates, pretty much anything in the BG Wiki updated since it was copy and pasted from wiki, has been done by him (if it is the same guy.)

But yes he thinks he is important, useful for my DNC maybe, important well, I don't care enough about the game to say yes or no to that.

Bacon flavored milkshake from Jack-in-the-Box. I bought one last night. It's kinda gross when I first tasted it, but then I got used to it after a few more sips. Then when I came back to it after 30 minutes I was yuck again.

Yeah, I don't really know what to say about such a thing. I like bacon, and I like milkshakes... but I still think that mixing two good things together doesn't necessarily result in something I'd really like. I mean, I like ice cream, and I like nuts, but I still don't like them together even though many other people seem too.

You know what's depressing? There's only about 7 people on my friend list that still play. My social linkshells are all dead too!

That wasn't really the point; more like the mod responses make it extremely clear that they have no clue what it is that's being reported (and therefore, don't have a handle on what is honestly a basic game mechanic) despite it being very clearly and succinctly stated several times.

There is no need to request all of that (mostly pointless) information for every problem that's reported.

Just reread it, and I don't get any vibe of the mods being clueless. It's a bug report, they're always like that. Chances are, the mod can't submit the bug report without that information, as useless as it seems/is. He got a more civil response than he deserved after being such an ***.

The problem was clearly stated and spelled out and yet he was asked for almost entirely irrelevant information because they had no idea what the problem was (and by extension, how their own game works). They were clueless. The fact an SGM even got in on the action made it even more shameful.

Then something ought to be done about that. It's easy to pretend everything is working A-OK with your product when you discourage bug reporting by giving the players unnecessary runaround.

You really thought he was being an ***? That was honestly very tame. Most people react far more negatively when it is clear to them that they are being given the runaround.

It's called protocol, and easily understandable when you consider this is a game available in 4 different languages with the developers speaking Japanese, not to mention playable on 4 different platforms with a 5th being considered. I imagine the mods fill out a general form for all bug reports and such information is required since many, many bugs are platform-specific. It's just asinine to put up such a fuss about something so simple. Mods needed the information to submit the report, he outright refused even after the SGM explained the situation. I still don't see where you get the vibe that they're clueless; they thanked him nicely then simply asked him to complete the information so they can submit it.

Most of that info they ask for is unneeded (most of the bugs in this game are server side, and don't depend on one specific language or platfrom). But they did ask him nicely a few times, and each time he played the *******. So I agree with SE. Takes all of 5 minutes to fill that **** out, probably took him longer to be a smartass.

Idk, I guess you can sign me up as part of the "less tolerant of ************** crowd >_>

Yeah, I get that it's protocol. What we see here is an example of ****** protocol.

Because a more reasonable staff that actually remotely knows the game they police would have been able to identify what was wrong immediately just from the topic title, easily proven the claim to be truthful, not needed any of the bs information they asked for, been able to send on the report on to the devs on their own, and the topic could have been closed right then and there. Instead, we got a prime example of runaround, and no indication that anything was done (particularly since this issue was apparently reported before back when this content was only on the test server)
