This is the seccond special attack I have seen sony borrow from the final fantasy line. Would be great so see effects like this (mabey not quite as powerful) added to weapons, or perhaps as augs.

Just did the trials today, for the first time with my 59 Magi and we won. Before I got killed we had him at 28%. DPS is key. That said I was lucky to land Malosini on the 8th cast and from there all nukes landed full power. I did about 45-50% of the dmg at up to the 28% mark with a rogue tagging him from behind. Armor break makes your armor weak, causing you to take a LOT of dmg. Almost as if you were naked if you are a mage, hehe.
