This is a solo task that begins with Commander Marrien Kavus in Sarith (in the far northeastern part of the city at about 145, -845, -4). Pre-requisites for requesting the task: - No tasks - 70 Skill Level in Alaran You say, 'Hail, Commander Marrien Kavus' Commander Marrien Kavus says, in Alaran, '_____! I hope to you're here to help. If you're just here to ask questions, you're better off talking to my sibling, Ain. Al's got all the answers. I'm more into [acting] than talking.' You say, 'Acting?' Commander Marrien Kavus says, in Alaran, 'That's what I'm talking about! There are a number of traitors that we need to deal with.' You have been assigned the task 'Unforgivable Betrayal'. Marrien Kavus needs your help in eliminating the traitors who have sided with the Orator's forces. Guard Captain Reles can provide you with information about where to look. Receive instructions from Commander Marrien Kavus 0/1 (Sarith) You say, 'Hail, Commander Marrien Kavus' Commander Marrien Kavus says, in Alaran, 'When the City of Bronze attacked, we didn't stand much of a chance. My sibling can give you more of the gory details. However, what made it worse are the people who betrayed us. I'm not just talking about those who followed Vyers after the occupation. I mean people who betrayed us while the fight was still going on. I want you to investigate a few areas and a few people. I have my suspicions, but I don't want to jump to conclusions. Here, take this list. Take notes. I want you to find the traitors, if you can.' Question Guard Captain Naraind Reles in their office 0/1 (Sarith) The captain is found in the northwestern building (location 10, 620, 0). You say, 'Hail, Guard Captain Naraind Reles' Guard Captain Naraind Reles says, in Alaran, 'I see. Marrien has you looking into some of the problems we faced during the invasion? I can think of a few things that stand out. One: A number of our lookouts were assassinated, caught off guard. Very unusual. I suspect Lieutenant Arulien, as al is missing alir issued sword and has no alibi for alir location at the time, but have no proof. Two: We had a large rate of magical failure among our tidalmages and tide priests by the docks. Something went wrong there. Three: It seemed like many of our moves were anticipated, including our city park ambush. Riago Barthes is a genius, certainly, but al's not a mind reader. Someone leaked information to the enemy. Investigate these areas and people, and you may find the answers. I would help myself, but Eries keeps me under close watch. Good luck.' This opens up the three sections below (each working essentially like a sub-task). Investigate the docked ships 0/1 (Sarith) This updates along the east side of the zone. Look for a counter-magic spell scroll on one of the docked ships 0/1 (Sarith) Task Window Says: You found part of a counter-magic scroll. Look for the rest. Counter Magic Scroll is at /waypoint -180, -704, -6 (on the railing of a small ship -- eastern dock on northwest side of the middle boat). Hunt down Tidalmage Karith 0/1 (Sarith) Task Window Says: Confront the tidalmage who commanded the dock forces, Karith. Tidalmage Karith is found in the far southern part of the dock area (around -710, -100). He is no more challenging than your average trash mob. Tidalmage Karith has been slain by _____! Tidalmage Karith falls backwards, clutching their wounds. 'No! This wasn't supposed to happen! Riago promised I'd be safe if I helped.' Karith lets out a death rattle and topples backwards. Investigate the city park 0/1 (Sarith) This updates in the southwest part of the zone. Search the area around the park fountain for a discarded notebook 0/1 (Sarith) Task Window Says: You found part of a map drawn in a book. Check the area around the city park fountain for the book. Marinsi's Notebook is at -517, 484, -6 (just west of the fountain on the grass between two plants). Hunt down Tide Priest Marinsi 0/1 (Sarith) Task Window Says: Inside the book was a hidden missive as well. The culprit is Tide Priest Marinsi. Tide Priest Marinsi overlooks the residences in the southern part of the zone. He's found at about -625, 315 (average trash mob difficulty). Tide Priest Marinsi has been slain by _____! Tide Priest Marinsi coughs up some blood and wipes their mouth. 'So, are you really that short sighted? I did what I had to do. Oseka has returned, and I will not deny my true god. Oseka will protect me.' Myrinsi tries to stand, and fails, collapsing to the ground in a bloody heap. Search Lieutenant Arulien's room in the barracks 0/1 (Sarith) Enter the building located northeast of Guard Captain Reles' building. Arulien's room is the first room on the right. Search the waterfall pool for a discarded weapon 0/1 (Sarith) Task Window Says: You found a note in Arulien's journal indicating the lookout's positions. They were mostly stationed around the waterfall. Check around there for Arulien's service weapon. Arulien's Broken Sword is at 907, -80, -13 (behind the waterfall north of the city's main gate). Hunt down Lieutenant Arulien 0/1 (Sarith) Task Window Says: You've found the sword used to kill the lookouts. Confront Arulien. Lieutenant Arulien is found on the top side of the bridge, around -325, 25, 23. This fight is no more challenging than a trash mob. Lieutenant Arulien has been slain by _____! Lieutenant Arulien falls to one knee, bleeding heavily. 'So you figured it out? How? I don't care. I'd go it again! The City of Bronze is going to conquer everything, and I want to be on the winning side!' The Alaran tries to remain steady, but falls to the ground, unmoving. Deliver the counter-magic scroll evidence to Commander Marrien Kavus 0/1 (Sarith) Commander Marrien Kavus says, in Alaran, 'Karith betrayed us? Heh, I guess I should not be surprised. Al was very ambitious. Dangerously so. This explains why the magic of the tides so often failed when cast by our mages ahd priests. Karith paid today for all their deaths.' Deliver the discarded notebook evidence to Commander Marrien Kavus 0/1 (Sarith) Commander Marrien Kavus says, in Alaran, 'Marinsi had been acting odd ever since news of the Orator from the City of Bronze reached our ears. It should not surprise me that al gave intelligence on our defensive efforts to the invading 'holy' army. I cannot forgive this. Thank you for taking care of Marinsi.' Deliver the missing weapon evidence to Commander Marrien Kavus 0/1 (Sarith) Commander Marrien Kavus says, in Alaran, 'I was afraid of this. I neven trusted ali. So shifty, so paranoid. When I saw ali disappear during the attack, I knew al was up to no good. Arulien got what he deserved for killing alir fellow guards and giving the City of Bronze a clear opening to the city.' Talk to Commander Marrien Kavus 0/1 (Sarith) Task Window Says: Tidalmage Karith was responsible for the spell failures. Tide Priest Marinsi was responsible for the leaked intelligence. Lieutenant Arulien was responsible for the murdered scouts. You say, 'Hail, Commander Marrien Kavus' Commander Marrien Kavus says, in Alaran, 'Thanks again for all your help. These three were responsible for a lot of innocent people's deaths when High Priest Vvers and Archon Eries attacked. Who knows whot further damage they could have done if they had been left alone.' You've defeated the traitors who betrayed their own people and sold out Sarith to the City of Bronze. Marrien feels their people have been avenged, and Captain Reles appreciates your contribution to Sarith.
