This is the task assigned to new players upon entering the game.
Welcome to EverQuest! You have entered The Mines of Gloomingdeep. You say, 'Hail, Arias' Arias says 'Hello, friend. My name's Arias and it's lucky for you I'm good at binding wounds. You almost didn't make it. 'You can thank me later though. For now let's join forces and [escape] this dungeon.'' Many dangers await. See if you can get Arias' help before venturing out into the mines. You say, 'Escape?' Arias says 'Glad you're with me! I already worked this lock open with a chisel I stole from the mines. That's one obstacle out of the way. Here's what we have left to do. . .' You have been assigned the task 'Jail Break!'. Arias has already worked open the lock to your cell but he broke his chisel in the process. To breech the final door to the outer mines, you need the key from the Gloomingdeep Jailor. Kill the Gloomingdeep Jailor, take his key and give it to Arias. Soon you'll be tasting free air! Speak with Arias 0/1 (The Mines of Gloomingdeep) This updates automatically. Arias says 'Okay, I'm following you. Together we should be able to bring down the Gloomingdeep Jailor.' Find the Gloomingdeep Jailor 0/1 (The Mines of Gloomingdeep) Kill the Gloomingdeep Jailor 0/1 (The Mines of Gloomingdeep) Retrieve the Jailor's Key 0/1 (The Mines of Gloomingdeep) Give the Jailor's Key to Arias 0/1 (The Mines of Gloomingdeep) The Gloomingdeep Jailor says 'Grrrrr. Bark. Bark. Grrrrr.' The Gloomingdeep Jailor has been slain by Arias! The Gloomingdeep Jailor's corpse twitches, then lies still. How's that for a little payback!
