    This group mission begins with Associate Researcher Plik (click for map image) in Katta Castrum. He is located in port-in area at about /loc -50, 90, 7.

    Pre-requisites for Requesting:
    - Completion of "Knowledge for Power" (Associate Researcher Plik's other mission)

    You say, 'Hail, Associate Researcher Plik'

    Associate Researcher Plik blinks in confusion for a moment, 'Ah, forgive me... I was immersed in my [studies]. Do you require assistance?'

    You say, 'You? Studies?'

    Associate Researcher Plik says 'I happen to have several areas of expertise. My primary interest is in [linguistics], although lately, due to circumstances, I've begun to focus more of my effort into the study of the [Sphinx].'

    You say, 'What about linguistics?'

    Associate Researcher Plik says 'My natural talent as a linguist makes me perfectly suited to translate ancient arcane texts, unfortunately some particularly difficult texts have me somewhat stymied at the moment.'

    You say, 'What do you know about the Sphinx?'

    Associate Researcher Plik says 'The Sphinx are quite an amazing species; many claim that they possess all knowledge... And, while I remain somewhat [skeptical], I must concede that they are extremely knowledgeable creatures.'

    You say, 'Skeptical?'

    Associate Researcher Plik says 'My original interest in the Sphinx arose from the claim that they were in possession of a powerful [artifact] that can be used to decipher and understand any basic form of communication... Unfortunately, I've had to divert my focus to the [problem] of restoring stability to the city's power source and I've been unable to find suitable [help] for either task.'

    You say, 'Hmm, I could help'

    Associate Researcher Plik says 'If you could assist me in either task, I would be very grateful... Obviously, the issue of the city's failing power source is of more importance.'

    You have been assigned the task 'Stone Tongue of Ateleka.'

    The Combine greatly desire a fabled artifact believed to be in the possession of the sphinx, Osinzuhazhfet. Head to Atiiki and obtain the artifact if at all possible.

    Enter the Sunken Pyramid in Jewel of Atiiki 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

    Head to the lake above the zone-in tunnels in the non-instanced Atiiki. In the middle of the lake is a platform with a portal to the instanced zone.

    Speak with Osinzuhazhfet regarding the Stone Tongue of Ateleka 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

    Make your way to the top of the pyramid (you'll have many mobs to kill along the way) where you'll find Osinzuhazhfet.

    You say, 'Hail Osinzuhazhfet'

    Osinzuhazhfet says, 'So, someone has finally come for the [Stone Tongue of Ateleka]...'

    You say, 'The Stone Tongue of Ateleka?'

    Osinzuhazhfet says 'I no longer have need of the object of your desire, however I am in need of subjects to test the mettle of certain of my creations... If you are [willing] to assist me, I will give you a [chance] to obtain the artifact you seek.'

    You say, 'Give me a chance'

    Osinzuhazhfet says 'I recently dissassembled the Tongue of Ateleka, and placed one fragment into each of the four sets of three chests within this chamber. Defeating each of my creations will reward you with a key to unlock one chest. Choose wisely, or you will unlock an empty chest and have to try again... Are you [willing]?

    You say, 'I am willing'

    Osinzuhazhfet says Excellent, when you are [ready] I will animate a creation and then observe the battle to identify and correct the weaknesses of my creation.'

    When you say "ready", a mob will spawn and aggro.

    You say, 'I am ready'

    Osinzuhazhfet says 'Behold, my creation rises!'

    At this point, "a monstrosity" spawns in the center of the room. It is KOS, so it will immediately aggro you if you're in its range. To begin with, it hits for a max ~2,300 (stunnable and mezzable as well).

    Loot a "Stone Key" from it.

    Gather the remaining fragments of the tongue 0/4 (Jewel of Atiiki)

    In the event room are three sets of chests (four chests in each set). The "Stone Key" opens one chest out of each of the four sets in the room (for a total of four chests). It doesn't open the others.

    These sets include (clockwise, from entry door):

    Set 1 - Iron Chest, Sturdy Chest, Stone Chest
    Set 2 - Rotted Chest, Frozen Chest, Crystal Chest
    Set 3 - Skin Chest, Flesh Chest, Blood Chest
    Set 4 - Spiked Chest, Heavy Chest, Humming Chest

    To "open" a chest, give the key to the chest (as you would give any item to a regular NPC). The chest will "die" at which point you can loot it. If a "Stone Tongue Fragment" is inside it, loot it to update the task and spawn another "a monstrosity" mob, which will drop another "Stone Key".

    Opening the incorrect chest does NOT result in a fragment, but spawns another "a monstrosity" anyway. Successive spawns will pop within moments of opening any chest, so if you need med time in between fights, do so after you kill the mob but before you open a chest.

    The emote you see before a new spawn:

    Osinzuhazhfet murmers quietly and prepares to summon a more powerful creation.

    Now, the catch: The monstrosities initially start off relatively easy, but for each chest you open, the monstrosity hits harder (after eight chests, reported hits are for a max ~3,800). In addition to hitting harder, each chest opened gives the subsequent monstrosities unique defenses:

    Iron Chest - mitigates slashing
    Sturdy Chest - mitigates h2h and piercing
    Stone Chest - mitigates blunt

    Rotted Chest - highly resistant to disease and poison
    Frozen Chest - highly resistant to fire and cold
    Crystal Chest - highly resistant to magic

    Skin Chest - increased AC (mitigates ALL melee)
    Flesh Chest - increased hitpoint pool
    Blood Chest - increased regeneration

    Spiked Chest - adds "Flurry" ability
    Heavy Chest - increases base damage and decreases attack delay
    Humming Chest - reduces effectiveness of hate effects (taunt, etc.)

    Hope you get some luck in opening chests.

    Give the fragments to Osinzuhazhfet 0/4 (Jewel of Atiiki)

    Osinzuhazhfet accepts the fragment and examines it carefully.

    Speak to Osinzuhazhfet about fusing the fragments together 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

    You say, 'Hail, Osinzuhazhfet'

    Osinzuhazhfet hands you the fully assembled artifact. 'I hope you will find this useful... If it should start speaking again, I would advise to ignore anything it says.'

    You receive "Stone Tongue of Atekela".

    Return to Katta Castrum and deliver the tongue to Associate Researcher Plik 0/1 (Katta Castrum)

    Associate Researcher Plik quietly accepts the Stone Tongue of Ateleka with a stunned look on his face, 'Amazing if this artifact contains even a fraction of its supposed power, it will be of immense help to me.'

    The exact purpose and use of the Stone Tongue of Ateleka remains somewhat unclear... Despite the lack of clarity, the Combine are very pleased to have it in their possession.

    "Sturdy Chest - mitigates h2h and piercing"
    Seems to just increase mitigation vs piercing.

    "Stone Chest - mitigates blunt "
    Should be blunt and h2h

    This task seems to be bugged. We got the first 3 fragments and defeated the monstrosities after finding the wrong chest every other time, until there were no more chests left and still no fourth fragment. I've never done this task before so I don't get what the problem is.

    I don't know what you guys or the GM are talking about, but this task IS still repeatable... I just did it 3 times in a row tonight with my littles. Reward was 50 Orum first run, then it went up to 150 Orum, so couldn't resist doing 2 more times before it dropped down to 128 Orum. In just a few hours I got 400 Orum (this task 3 times + 1 other task) and went from apprehensive (haveing never done a Katta mission) to amiably. Faction so much easier to obtain now when the rewards are higher, lol. I'm just trying to get enough faction to buy my powersources without having to get on mains and go get them, lol.

    Mob never enrages, started out hitting for about 1.7k or so, after opening 8 chests mob was hitting for 3.8k...

    Iron Chest = Unknown... but didn't see a difference in much
    Sturdy Chest = Makes mob Mitigate H2H AND Piercing weapons
    Stone Chest = Makes mob Mitigate Blunt weapons

    Rotted Chest = makes mob immune to Disease and Poison
    Frozen Chest = makes mob immune to Fire and Ice
    Crystal Chest = Makes mob immune to Magic

    Skin Chest = Mitigate ALL melee
    Flesh Chest = Either doubled Mob's HP's, or greatly increased Regen
    Blood Chest = Increased hits to around 2k (only thing noticed)

    Spiked Chest = add's Flurry to mob
    Heavy Chest = Mitigate Melee aprox 30% (based on mage rampaging servent's hits)
    Humming Chest = reducess Taunt effectivness, makeing it harder to hold agro.

    This was all done with a 75 mag/nec/shm played by me, and a 75 clr and 75 war... All pets were useing slashing with fire proc, War was also useing slashing. Our strengths are obviously slashing and fire. Iron we only opened once or twice and I don't think it's slashing but others say it is. Our usual order is...
    Sturdy, Stone, Iron
    Rotted, Frozen, Crystal
    Blood, Flesh, Skin
    Spiked, Humming, Heavy
    (opening only what's needed to get drop of course.)

    Only time we really had problems is when we opened Crystal, so that's ALWAYS last, just open loot, hand in, hail and clicky to campfire sitting outside instance. Cleric only has to chain CH with a spot heal every now and then from Shammy. Mage just chain nukes, Necro keeps 4-5 dots on him at a time, Shammy keeps Lassitude Rk. II on War, slows mob then keeps Panther rk. II on group (all pet have pet affinity AA) Up untill Flesh is opened, mob is dead in less then 90 seconds (duration of slow) after Flesh, takes 2 slows at least, usually a 3rd near 10% to make sure it doesn't drop.

    How are you guys able to do more than 1 mission. I recently tried to do my 2nd stone tongue mission and it wouldn't give me all 4 fragments. So I petitioned SOE and here is their response:

    Greetings Braeger!

    Thank you for contacting Sony Online Entertainment In-Game Customer service.

    This is GM Itasma. I understand that you opened all the chests, but found only 3 key pieces for the task 'Stone Tongue of Ateleka.' I checked the records and found that you previously completed the task and also claimed the reward. I also found that the task is not a repeatable one. If you have any query on the issue then please get back to us.

    Thank you for your time and patience.

    Good luck and Safe Travels!
    Game Master Itasma

    Sturdy = Piercing (possibly h2h as well) and its not immunity its extreme mitigation (Sister's Opulent Backstabber was only doing 11-20ish damage a swing)
    Stone = Blunt
    Iron = Slashing

    Frozen = Fire/Ice (couldnt land either set of dots as a bard even HoSing)
    (can't say for sure its Immunity as far as resists go may require full debuffing tash/malo/HoS before itll land)

    Spiked = Flurry
    Humming = Quad (or so the person in group claimed)

    Skin = group said regen, my parse said didnt say (as i forgot to turn on all spells/melee)

    Those are the chests we opened; tank said the worst hit was 1604 and he was barely over 3kac and he claimed max shielding but i dont know for sure.

    Entrance is on island in middle of the lake.

    There is indeed a SI efreeti who wanders right to the zone-in. He's a pain since he can warp into the wall behind you and be out of LOS. Even the mage pet couldn't attack him there. We evac'd to clear aggro but since we landed right back there, he re-aggro'd through the wall. The only good thing is that by moving into the room a bit you can finally get him to come out of the wall.

    TBS has more than its fair share of miserably buggy pathing...

    Frozen is definitely FIRE and ICE resists. Even wizzy lures based on those resists don't land.

    All the posts here convey somewhat the idea that there's some trick to getting the 4 correct chests early. There is NOT. It's all the luck of the draw. If you're real lucky they could be the first 4 chests you pick (in which case, stop playing MMORPGs and get yourself to a casino fast) or you might have to clear all 12 chests in the room. The only benefit from these posts is some idea as to what path the monstrosity will take in strengthening itself every round.

    Since main tanks whose main weapon is a pig-sticker are rarities, I'd suggest picking the Sturdy chest first. After that, go with your group's strengths. If you're lucky you can leave Spiked and Humming to last and pray you don't need the 11th and 12th chests. The monstrosity gets really tough by the 9th or so chest, especially if he becomes fully spell-resistant...

    Did this mission today, and got all 4 tongues. We had a balanced group with a Bard, cleric, Warrior, Paladin, Ranger, Shaman bot, all but the bot were 75 and Anguish/2.0 geared. We barely made it, as each monstrosity got harder and harder and bigger too. We opened 8 chests, and the 8th had our 4th tongue but the monstrosity was really too tough by then... the cleric was going to run out of mana before it was down to 50%, so we handed in the tongues to the sphinx, hailed him and then just died. Ran back to katta to hand in the final piece and got 75 Orux for it.

    Did this mission on 5/6/07, when you zone in there is an efreeti sorcerer that sees thru invisible and paths right to the zone in. If you are a fast zoner like I was you will be dead before your group is finished zoning in. Probably best to let the tank zone in first.

    This was still bugged to us on 4/14/07. Only 3 of 4 tongues were found in the chests. To add insult to injury the last monstrosity dropped a key to a non-existant chest.... and a cloth cap!

    On Monday Feb. 19th, 2007, a wave of insanity struck our group consisting of a warrior (me), a chanter, a shaman, a beastlord, a paladin, and a monk (all lvl 75).

    "Lets try this new quest" shouted the monk. "Yea!" the group replied in unison.

    So off we go killing and having fun.

    "Look, a room with a bunch of boxes." exclaimed the monk. "Lets see how this works" as he hails Osinzuhazhfet.

    [2 hours later] The enchanter proclaims "Hey, I'm going to go read up on this mission to see if anyone knows how these power up." I guess next time we will read up on any strat / info posts before we do the mission.

    "Dam, these last mobs have huge HP. This is getting hard to heal you" complained the shaman. The beastlord and paladin echoed the same complaint since they had been pressed into healing roles since their weapons hits were maxing out in the mid teens.

    So we cleared every box, the final mobs had huge HP and our weapons were hitting like we were level 3 again. Last 3 mobs took about 30 minutes each.

    I can confirm that Flesh = + HP and Humming = chance to quad. We did the Humming with 6 chests to go and the quads started with that mob. I can also say that Flesh was the 3rd last chest and with that the mobs HP really went up.

    Of course the last box had the final tongue piece. Crappy part is yet another mob is spawned!! So we handed in the four parts, got the completed message, and ran our butts to zone out.

    Oh yeah, the chanter used 100 perdots on rune's.

    Fun times were had by all.

    P.S. There were a few tricks that we had up our sleeves that made all the difference. I'm going to be a **** head and let you figure them out for yourselves. :)

    P.P.S. (The edit): I forgot to mention that this was during the 50% bonus days so each of the spawned mobs were giving 22% AA exp. Unfortunatly we had all burned LoTD earlier in the zone. However, the chanter being a smarty pants still had a double exp potion so she was lucky to get 44% AA exp per kill. Total time spent in zone was 4 hours but we all got 8 AA or so.

    Chest Effects Summary:

    Set 1- melee mitigation- Iron Chest, Sturdy Chest, Stone Chest.
    Iron = Slashing mitigation
    Sturdy = Pierce mitigation*
    Stone = Blunt mitigation*

    Set 2- caster resists- Rotted Chest, Frozen Chest, Crystal Chest
    Rotted = Dis/Poi resist
    Crystal = Magic resist
    Frozen = Ice/Fire resist

    Set 3- mob ac/hp/regen- Skin Chest, Flesh Chest, Blood Chest.
    Skin = + AC
    Flesh = + HP*
    Blood = + Regen

    Set 4- mob DPS- Spiked Chest, Heavy Chest, Humming Chest.
    Spiked = Flurry
    Heavy = DB/DI increase
    Humming = Chance to quad*

    My group went from taking 5+ hrs to finish mission to under 2 hrs, using this as a guide. Judge your group's capabilities, and gear-level of tank (mobs still kiteable, worst case). Then choose chests accordingly :)

    *edit- fixed stone chest = blunt. sturdy = pierce. Also, all chest effects now 100% verified.

    the chest order for fire and magic ones are wrong. I open the fire one and the mob resist all magic spells. So it has to be flipflopped. So

    Set 2- caster resists-
    Rotted = Dis/Poi resist
    Crystal = Ice/Fire resist
    Frozen = Magic resist

    Ive done this mission 15 times and this is my exp on opening the so called Fire resist chest. It is not fire resist i can land all fire and cold spells just no magic ones. SO Frozen chest has to be magic resist.

    Each set of chests will affect the next monstrosities abilities or difficulties.

    Set A - Iron Chest, Sturdy Chest, Stone Chest - This does seem to affect what the mob will mitigate, specifics are not known.
    Set B - Rotted Chest, Frozen Chest, Crystal Chest. These affect the mobs immunity (yes, complete immunity) to ALL/COLD/MAGIC respectively.
    Set C - Skin Chest, Flesh Chest, Blood Chest. In some way these affect the mobs hit points and other stats.
    Set D - Spiked Chest, Heavy Chest, Humming Chest. While we did not open the Spiked chest, these did not seem to have a noticeable affect.

    Each mob mitigates what was used previously, for castors you will only be able to cast one type spell for two mobs before they are resisted. Even malo, slow and cripple will eventually be resisted. Best run We had of three I used disease first two mobs, poison second two, Ice the fifth one. Also you do not have to fight the last mob, Have the person who opens chests give the 4 pieces of tongue to the sphinx for combine and everyone then can run out of zone. Do final turn in and win.
    Melee can also be mitigated by 95% but special attacks and pets seem to hold thruout.

    3) ask Osinzuhazhfet to fuse the pieces (dont have the exact wording but basically you hand him the pieces and he puts them back together)

    4) return the tongue to Prime Researcher Elnot

    Did this task 2x in a row and the monstrocities seemed to be much harder the second time. 75 SK 4kac max hit was 3200 but when the got lucky with a flurry landing 3.2k 3 times in a row it got interesting. The damage mitigation was also so high by the end of the second one that most melee hits were heavily mitigated (90% is probably a fair estimate) and very few spells were landing on him (druid said cold was working ok, pretty much anything else was resisted).

    oh, second round, by the second spawn, Beastlord slow was completely resisted.

    FYI - This mission appears to have a bug. A few of us in my guild did this yesterday, and only recieved 3 tongue pieces. We opened all the chests, killing each progressively harder mob, yet only recieved 3 tongues and were unable to complete the mission. Of course, all of us petitioned, but no GMs responded /sigh.
