When you hail the Hermit next to the zone to the Lake of Ill Omen he says he is looking for a great sorcerer. If you say you are a great sorcerer he usually responds something like You have many more deeds to accomplish. However, if your faction, is high amiable he will hand you a flaxen hilt, which has 4 round slots on one end. He tells you to put within what once was there and return it.

    The Requirements

A Flaxen Lock of Hair: Identifies as "Lock of Flaxen Cord." Drops from Chief Rokgus in Droga as one of his more uncommon drops, about 1 in 15.

A Yellow Whip: Identifies as "A Whip of Flaxen Cord." Drops off a wandering named Drolvarg called A Wulfware Lonewolf (he wanders near the Firiona Vie zoneline from the Dreadlands).

Large Tassel Bookmark: Identifies as "Tassel of Flaxen Cord." Results from the Tome Raider Quest.

Combine all of these in the new Flaxen Hilt that the Iksar Hermit is now handing out and you will get the Barbed Scaled Whip. When you hand him the Whip and your Sorcerer's Cap from the previous part of this quest you get the following text:

An Iksar hermit says 'All is not complete. A cap and the rest, which was asked for, is required.'

An Iksar hermit takes the flail and vanishes with a brilliant flash!! Within your hands appears a skullcap. You hear a voice echo through the cave. 'Well done. You are a formidable necromancer. We thank you.'

    ...and you receive:

    Necromancer Skullcap:
    magic lore
    8 ac 3 dex 5 int 15 mana 8 sv magic
    heart flutter (instant) 3 charges
    useable from inventory

Need all dialogues, faction hits, /loc of quest mobs.

    Weird!
    This hat really is tradeable!
And Ixcapan is indifferent to all races. Does that mean you can give your 8th hat to another necro of any race, and they can get the 9th hat? I think so.
Boy, it was a really long quest tho, must have been about 20 rare items to get. I wouldnt sell it for less than 100k. I finished it June 2024 everything works on 'grand creation' emu server

    You have entered Cabilis West.
Targeted (Necromancer GM): an Iksar hermit
Stand close to and right click on the Necromancer GM to train your skills.
An Iksar hermit looks upon you warmly -- You would probably win this fight... it's not certain though. (Lvl: 70)
You say, 'Hail, an Iksar hermit'
An Iksar hermit looks at you with one good eye. His left eye is covered with pus. 'I seek a [great sorcerer].'
    You say, 'great sorcerer'
Your faction standing with Brood of Kotiz has been adjusted by 2.
An Iksar hermit hands you a flaxen hilt or handle of sorts. It has four round slots on one end. 'Insert within what used to be. Return it to me when all is complete. With it shall you gain your Sorcerer's Skullcap. Go and prove your knowledge.'
You have fashioned the items together to create something new: Barbed Scaled Whip.
Targeted (Necromancer GM): an Iksar hermit
Stand close to and right click on the Necromancer GM to train your skills.
You offered 1 Barbed Scaled Whip to an Iksar hermit.
You offered 1 Sorcerer Skullcap to an Iksar hermit.
An Iksar hermit says, 'All is not complete. A cap and the rest, which was asked for, is required.'
An Iksar hermit takes the flail and vanishes with a brilliant flash! Within your hands appears a skullcap. You hear a voice echo through the cave. 'Well done. You are a formidable necromancer. We thank you.'
Your faction standing with Brood of Kotiz has been adjusted by 15.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis could not possibly get any better.
You complete the trade with an Iksar hermit.

It turns out that you have to be high-amiable to get the hilt. I tried to get it from him originally and could not despite being amiable. I killed 60-70 Iksar Bandits in Warsliks, came back, and still conned amiable. This time however, he gave me the hilt.

like it says on the post kill everything on the NW corner (hopefully Sev is not up) if you can solo it or grp it good for you.
There are two ruins and some broken pillars. on the first ruins that are closer to the steps i kinda drew a line to its west and cleared everything west of it moving northward and then east up to the pillars. i might have spent total of 4 hours and got him to spawn a few times here are the exact locations of his spawns with what it droped.

I am amiable and level 56 and am not receiving the hilt from the hermit any idea what I should do. He says I need many more deeds. I am also a Dark elf.

I turned in my previous cap and he kept it saying I had more stuff to do. But did not give me the hilt. Had to petition to get the cap back.

See bushidobul's 29 Mar, 2009 post. The same happened to me (53 Iksar nec); I was amiable but obviously on the low end because after some more factioning I was still amiable but I got the quest. I did nothing other than improve my faction.

As far as the Iksar Tomb Raider, I spent days trying to find him. I pretty much killed everything I could find in the NW area on the cliff. I even sat on the steps from the top to about 1/2 way down for maybe 6 hours at different level; nothing. I asked a nice ranger to help track the tomb raider (thank you Bues). He was tracking all over the zone while I stayed in the NW area. I saw the tomb raider pop around the 5th most Southern pillar in the row of six, which are East of Tulok. I got lucky and he dropped the Venril the Chief the first time. On a side note, if you are asking someone to help you track don't ask them to track a Tomb Raider. Ask them to track an "Iksar Tomb Raider", DUH.

Bottom line is I know he popped at the pillars and I bet he has several other places to spawn. I still do not know what he PH is, although I also killed a flower not too long before he popped. If I had to do it again, I think I would stay on the cliffs in NW and kill everything from around Tulok to the pillars.
    Hope this helps someone else.

I have been camping wulfware lonewolf off and on for weeks with my druid bot. I logged on today and the spawn must be better or the stars aligned. I got wulfware on logging. Went to EJ and iskar tomb raider was up and dropped temp version of book. Got the outpost book and headed to Kesoera. And yes, tortured was up too. Slam dunked the bulk of the quest in 40 minutes. Maybe the spawns have been changed by eq to make "legacy" quests easier.

I completed this earlier today. Pretty straightforward.

    1) Yellow whip. I verified what I read here - kill everything in the grass area near the FV zone in DL, and the named Drolvarg will pop eventually. Took me about an hour. I caught him right on the grass/mud border.

    2) Kaesora drop. Quite annoying. Ran to NW portion of EJ, and Severilous killed me - ran over me like a freight train. Oops. Feign failed, of course. After some friends showed up and we had dragon steaks, I killed 2 mobs in the NW and got the drop. Quite unusual. Then it was to OT, no problems, and to Kaesora, where it took the Tortured Librarian about 3 hours to show up. The annoying part was that the whole time I was afraid I was going to go LD and lose the two books, which are norent.

    3) Rukgus. Just keep killing him. I got the hair after about 4 hours.

Lock of Hair is NO DROP
    # Aug 12 2004 at 11:13 PM Rating: Decent
A Flaxen Lock of Hair: Identifies as "Lock of Flaxen Cord." Drops from Chief Rokgus in FRONTIERT MOUNTAINS as one of his more uncommon drops, definitely uncommon.

This item is NO DROP, so don't plan on camping it with your main, unless your necro is parked right there... (I learned the hard way!)
    Probably the hat
    # Aug 07 2004 at 10:15 PM Rating: Good
I'm a L20 IKS NEC and I was able to get the hilt just by saying the phrase. I think it's just because I had the Sorcerer Skullcap on that I got the container. I had not done much questing other than all the hats up to this point, so my faction isn't stellar.

where is the iksar tomb raider?
    # Aug 04 2004 at 11:56 PM Rating: Decent
ok...i spent all day, about 8 hours, camping that bloody tomb raider..killing and killing and killing on the plateau in northwest corner of emerald jungle, running up the stairs then jumping down running the path between pos 3000 pos 3000 and pos 3000 pos 2000 and nothing

is it possible he spawns in the iksar bandit camp down there and then wanders?

or has his spawn area changed or anyone got a more recent recollection of where they caught him at?
RE: where is the iksar tomb raider?
    # Nov 22 2004 at 12:11 PM Rating: Decent
He spawned at +3850 +3400 today (near North Western corner of zone). I was tracking with my 44 ranger and would occasional kill something to break the monotony. The previous 2 kills were Erollisi Mantraps. I had been there quite some time.

    Dropped the wrong book too.

RE: where is the iksar tomb raider?
    # Aug 26 2004 at 9:41 AM Rating: Decent
After he spawns, he roams a lot (off the plateau usually). After a bit he almost always gets stuck under the stairs with about 20 other mobs. Run up underneath them and try to pull out all the KoS mobs there and he should be one of them.

He seems to be a timed spawn instead of a random one as well. We slaughtered litterally half the stuff in the zone for hours and he always spawned about the same time. Sometimes I pop in and kill him, then come back a few hours later and he's always up. No one hunts in EJ really, so I doubt people are killing spawns. He's also always up after a zone/server reset.

The bad part is his book Necro's need seems to be a rare drop. Out of about 10 recent kills haven't seen it. I get that stupid Sea Captain one every time....Not sure what it is even for.

I killed him at roughly P4000 P2000 on the Plateau and never went off it. Took me about 2 hours.

There are 2 sets of ruins to the north west of the stairs. I killed everything int he south most of these ruins. After about 3 hours had gotten 3 tomb raiders to pop. The third one dropped the book.

Is he still in Droga? If he is Sony / Verant has made this quest much tougher. The zone is now a mid 50 - low 60 zone. I am a 53rd season necromancer who got my butt whipped in the entry hall by a yellow gobby. He was constantly laying 160 point shots on my pet and then, quickly, me. Anyway, if the Chief is still in Droga this quest is not mid 40's level anymore.

Can anyone provide a loc for the Wulfware Lonewolf where you've seen it? I've been hunting right next to the Firiona Vie zone in for days and still haven't seen it.

Edit: Well naturally, right after posting this he popped :) So here's the info where I found him at..

Right next to the Firiona Vie entrance as mentioned before, at Loc: -550 -4550, heading NE.

    # Jul 22 2004 at 5:10 AM Rating: Decent
I am a Dark Elf Necro that has been working on the Iksar necro skullcap quests. The final skullcap is wearable by all races/necro only. I have every item needed for the 9th skullcap, along with the 8th skullcap, and maxxed out Brood of Kotiz faction without an illusion. When I try to hand the head of the rogue marauder in to Glosk, I get the following message: 'I am afraid you do not have the ranking that I require to share such information with.' All I need is to get the bag from Glosk and combine the items needed for the Gem of Reflection turn in. Any help on this would be great since I have literally factioned my heart out to Cabilis for the final skullcap. I really don't want to be stuck with this crappy 8th skullcap and nothing more. Someone please help me!

The brittle bone has been found. It drops randomnly off skeleton mobs in Charasis a.k.a. Howling stones. All that is left it seems is to find the item found in burning heat. The rock doesn't combine.
9th quest still being implemented 6/10/04
    # Jun 10 2004 at 9:49 AM Rating: Decent
See this thread for a lot of info on the 9th quest:
    http://p211.ezboard.com/foldunsolvedquestsineverquestfrm1.showMessageRange?topicID=82.topic&start=1&stop=20
It looks like people have 3 of the 4 drops identified.

See this thread for confirmation that SOE botched the implementation of the quest - the 4th item isn't yet in the game as of 6/10/04:
    http://eqforums.station.sony.com/eq/board/message?board.id=Necromancers&message.id=1691&no_redir=true
One of the next patches should evidently correct that.
