Of course, we still need to obtain a few more [artifacts].' You say, 'What artifacts?' Curator Merri says 'Each of the people you see working here has their own exhibit to build and maintain. If you speak to them, they can tell you about which items they are looking for to add to their collection. Any items you collect will need to be placed inside one of my storage containers. If you [need a Collector's Box] at any time, just ask me. Also know I could use some help in retrieving some [special items] for my own exhibit.' You say, 'What special items?' Curator Merri says 'My display will showcase the many interesting religious idols and artifacts from Norrath's history. Most of my gallery is complete, but I still need a few more items. FYI - the velvet rose at the end looks like a red glowing orb for a place able item. Doesn't look anything like a rose.
The Forlorn Totem of Rolfron Zek dropped off a Hunting Kobald today. Was a random mob running around till it dirtnapped.. So it does spawn on other kobalds in Stone Brunt.

Ok i am on Torvonnilous server and i want to get the Coldain Fetish and the Petrified Totem, if anyone loots these please put them up for 100-200pp each and i will go buy them, i never see them in bazaar and i really do not want to ruin coldain faction, just when i starting Velium Paladin armor quests.

Ok, Some of these posts helped me a lot, and some gave false information, I bought all of my items in the baazar except one, and that on ewas such a pain in my furry wolf butt! The Coldain Fetish!! <Duh duh duuuuunn> I feel sorry for anyone that has to get this piece but I am gonna give you a piece of helpful info that I wish someone would have givin me before I ruined my faction. Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT try to get a coldain fetish off the coldain missionary in the hut with Dobbin Crossaxe, it doesn't have it, I must have killed 20, They don't have it! I went back one day with a friend and someone else was camping him, I was bummed but my friend to me that there were others, I couldn't believe it, so I hit myself in the head a couple of times with my Testament of Vanear and followed him, there were three in a hut lower down we were Harmonying and pacifying but in the confusion we forgot to harmony one of the missionarys. Well we got an add and it almost turned bad but we did it, and they BOTH dropped one, I nearly tore every strand of hair out of my head! But I didnt <fixes her hair> Well I wish you the best of luck, I hope this helps you.

Well I can say that I just killed the missionary in the hut with dobbin and he did drop the Coldain Fetish, unfortunately not the item I was after but there you go.

She is right though...there are three missionaries furthur south that drop the fetish as well. With a little help, maybe some crowd control, they aren't terribly difficult, and three tries to drop the fetish instead of one improves your odds, don't you think?

ok i camped one or 2 of the spawns with no luck so i gave up and got all the components for 449pp and i could have made that much if i had spent the time in Rathe. hell i would have been better off camping the AC that sells for 4k in the same ammount of time too. so just buy all the stuff its so much quicker and easyer.
Everquest? I thought it was Everkill

I was hunting the big camp in SBM killing the rabid (think its their name) kobolds to get the the greaters and after about an hour and a half of not getting the totem off of greater shamans it droped off the rabid kobolds... Just saying that it doens't have to be the greater shamans

Well i needed an extended range item (after getting tired of the tanks going OOR when i tried to heal them) and this popped up when i did a search. The mobs listed here that drop the necessary items arent hard to kill for a 44 druid so i gave it a shot.
-The Kobolds in SBM were easy and after an hour of hunting the Greater Shamans i looted the item.
-The coldains werent that bad if u med-kite them. i had to kill about 10 before the fetish dropped.
-The Witchdocters in WW are not social but rarely drop the item. So i hunted them for about 5 hours before one dropped.
-The hardest mobs were the Stonegrabbers in DSP. By killing the normal stonegrabbers you get the Petrified Stonegrabber to pop. They hit hard and have a ton of HP. But med-kiting these things was wasy. I looted the item after hunting here for about an hour.
I feel great about getting the item. its a nice upgrade and it feels good completing a quest. Now on the epic.... =)

Ive been killing them for a while now and spoke with a group who was killing them frequently in the past couple of days and neither myself nor they have yet to see a single coldain fetish drop yet. Is the quest broken?

I cannot find these for the life of me, I have hunted the coldains at the NW corner, and am at the SW corner now. I cannot buy at Thurgadin anymore, hoe much longer till i get it? any tips from anyone on how to get it?
I spent the whole day yeterday camping the stonegrabbers in Dawnshroud, and not once did I see a Petrified stonegrabber spawn. Does anyone know which place is the best to camp, or have any advice? while camping I was /ooc'ing to buy this item too, any information would be much appreciated. thanks

We picked up 2 in about 4 hours. When we got to the zone there was a petrified stonegrabber already up and he dropped it! We hunted for 4 more hours, then checked the vendors in the zone and found another, (dumb luck:)
I'm sure this would only happen to me...but - when you get ready to turn in the items to Merri, make sure you combine them in the collection box first!
I didn't know whether to combine or not first, so decided to give it to her without combine, thinking that if it didn't work I could combine them then. MISTAKE: if you don't combine them first and you try to give her the collection box, all items in the box will disappear...
Petitioned GM, who rightfully said it was my own dumb fault =) Oh well...

I just completed this quest today. In my opinion, it was worth killing 7 Coldain Missionaries for a Coldain Fetish. I was kindly to Coldain, and I still am... and now I have more int =)
I camped the Missionaries that Bosephus suggested, and it wasn't too difficult... it's just annoying kiting a missionary, getting it to 3% health and watching helplessly as it CHs...
Loc of camp with Missionaries is neg 8000, neg 2000 in EW... there are three of them there... careful, though... there are about 6 other coldains at that camp...

We've killed about 20 missionaries and so far only one fetish has dropped. We harmony the rest of the camp so we can pull the missionaries singly without getting anyone else. We are still allies so we haven't taken a terrible faction hit yet or anything.

Did they gate back home on you? I've been having problems because I almost kill them and they gate back. I'm going to try it again with KEI up and try to nuke my way through them.

Today, i went back and got a second fetish for a friend. So from my experiences.. (18 of em dead, poor things =\) that only happened to me 2 or 3 times... As a wizard, i memmed a short cast stun/dd spell to prevent that as well as CH from ruining my fun... But occasionally, yes, they get away... And I usually evac to lose aggro and start all over again...

Is the Idol of Woven Grass rare? I have completely emptied the gobby fort of all known inhabitants over and over (and fought Grachnist 16 times lol) but the witchdoctors just drop the Iksar Witch doll. I have gotten five tambourines for the other PoK quest, and keep seeing Greenscale Emeralds. =) But no Idol for me =( This is getting to be frustrating. At least when the Petrified Stonegrabber didn't pop I still went up three levels fighting them XD

I see this quest and as I look into it I am really kicking myself for not keeping the idol of woven grass when I had it. It drops off gobbies in front of Temple of Droga in the Frontier Mtns and is not too rare, I've seen it twice dropped and I never hunt there (well I will be now :/ ), I only usually kill a gob or two on my way by.
Got one last night after clearing the goblin camp two or three times. Then sold it, not realising it was needed for this quest... time to go back and get another one :).

It took me 20 Grachnists, but I finally got an idol, it dropped off a soothsayer. I was checking all casters.
I was getting an average of two Grachnists per camp clearing, so that would be 10 camp clearings. I figure about 4 hours total elapsed time (including time I spent last night where I didnt count Grachnists). What a pain.

I'm a level 65 Druid and collecting the items for this quest for a friend. I PBAE the entire camp in one go so I'm chewing through a lot of Goblins.
I am currently on Grachnist number 64 and I haven't seen a single Idol. All 64 Grachnists have dropped the gloves too!
And when I'm getting REALLY bored I let my warrior (also 65) beat up the camp goblins while I tour the rest of Warsilks killing the ones at the various ruins.
Must be up to close to 1000 goblins now...
I also send the Druid off now and then to clear the Stonegrabbers in DSP. No luck on them from 10 clearances so far.

Ok, finally finished collecting the items.
A rough idea of how long each part took me:
Kobolds. I didn't go out to get this part. It dropped when I was farming leopards for pelts and it was looking up the totem that made me do the quest. Had only killed 10 Kobolds or so.
Goblins. Aproximately 4 hours of wholesale slaughter of the Warsilks Fort plus every other goblin in the zone. If you were of a level to get exp from those goblins you could be there for days.
Coldain. I only popped over to Eastern Wastes every 30 minutes to kill the one Missionary in the camp with the Coldain Ring quest NPC. 4th Missionary dropped a fetish.
Stonegrabbers. Again a matter of wholesale slaughter. Took me nearly 14 hours. I saw six other named stonegrabbers, some more than once, before the Petrified one finally appeared. At times I assisted those people who were exp-ing on them since I didn't want to stand on their toes or cramp their exp and based on how long it was taking them to kill each one I would recommend doing this as an exp camp over several days. It could easily take that long.
Some thoughts on the quest overall.
I would recommend doing this at about level 29-34. Any higher and you aren't going to get much use from the focus affect, any lower you won't be able to hunt the mobs.
Treat it as a series of exp camps and instead of doing Warsilks' Goblins do the ones in Frontier Mountains.
I would start with the Kobolds, very much the easiest. Then move on to the Goblins. They would be good exp to level 30-34 in FM. Then head to DSP and kill the Stonegrabbers. As for the Coldain Missionaries, I would recommend you don't even bother killing them. High Level players are always clearing them out for Giant Faction. Just find out who is doing it at any time and ask if you can loot the Fetish. CHealing mobs at the level they give exp are just a pain.

It is a reasonable guess that the Coldain Fetish will drop from the Rygor mob as well.(None of the quests ruin common useful faction)
The Whirling stones are most likely in Lavastorm as well based on the number of drops in that area. None on the items appear to be on super rare mobs and only one is tough per item and a few appear to have a second quest associated such as the pulsating rock.

I don't know if this has changed, but for the Holly Longtail quest the undead froglok Tongue also dropped off of the regular frogloks also.
I have not been down that way since YKesha, so I don't know if it still works that way.

Thank you for the excellent list. Does anyone know who else drops the coldain fetish? I have all but that, but the item is not worth blowing my faction for :(
I just completed this quest and managed to buy both the Coldain Fetish and the Petrified Totem in the bazaar for around the 100pp mark, so it is possible to complete the quest without taking the coldain faction hit. If I remember rightly I found them when searching using the 'misc' selection.
Just FYI the Forlorn Totem of Rolfron Zek can be gotten from the two Kobolds in Stonebrunt Mountains who spawn right by the entrance to The Warrens (approx loc -3800, 3000). I got the Idol of Woven Grass from a Goblin Witchdoctor in Warsliks Woods at the Goblin Fort (approx loc 3000, 0).

I looted the forlorn totem form a kobold shamman at the Highland Kobold camp (follow wall left to snowy area) I also killed everyother Kobold in the zone and didn't see it drop elsewhere
The Idol of Woven Grass dropped off A soothsayer at the main goblin outpost (didnt note loc - but lot's of tents and fires) Probably drops elsewhere but didnt see it after clearing entire camp couple times. I have yet to look the Petrified Totem but camping that now in DS. The Coldain Fetish is a complete mystery :( really hate all these dangling quests.

Has anyone found where the Coldain Fetish drops yet?? Obviously it's on Velious, but I've never heard of it and cannot find info on it anywhere.

Forlorn Totem of Rolfron Zek drops off kobolds in the Warrens and maybe mtns nearby, been a while since i collected a few.
Pretty sure petrified totem comes from ice goblins in permafrost.
Betting the coldain fetish drops off tizmaks or rygorr.

Clarification - I am pretty sure the forlorn totem only drops off of the Kobolds in Stonebrunt Mountains. Never seen them drop in the Warrens before but not a rare drop in Stonebrunt.

Got one off a Kobald at zone in, at end of tunnel when entering zone.
