I also used my Druid (off and on)from 43 to 47 to slaughter stonies trying to get the Hope Diamond. At one time I had a 53 bst helping and ran thru countless rounds of spawns and saw alot of named, but never the Optimistic. So today I thought, let me Hail the NPC(Drelynn) and get the box(Merri). Ported back to DSP and the third spawn at pos863, neg1138 was the Optimistic. Could be coincidence, but I think not.

I agree with you Wynkman. I too camped the location (+863, -1138) and sure enough, after clearing the camp once, a Light Stonegrabber and an Optimistic Stonegrabber both spawned. I was able to loot the hope diamond and a light diamond. Thanks Wynkman for the tip.

-Hope Diamond off Optimistic Stonegrabber(pretty rare spawn) was the key to this quest; I never saw in the bazaar; bought other gems in bazaar
-Had my druid check on track for Optimistic Stonegrabber on his way to ME for Goranga Cheiftan(Divine Inspiration: +15 Int +15 Wis range item)

All of the fine antique quests can be done at level 1.
That's not to say you can go to all the places you might need to go to get the items, but you can do the turn in at level 1.
BTW, these are great quests for people starting new casters. All the focus effects are useful and most of the things you need for the quests can be found either in bazaar or on vendors.

Is there a min lvl you have to be to get the veil for turning in the gems? Would I be able to do this with my lvl 6 cleric, if I were to buy the gems?
I got all the gems last night but when i went to the NPC to hand it in she gave me back the box. My cleric is lvl 14. I dinged 15 late last night so gonna try it again. Hope I can get it will help me out with Greater Healing at lvl 19. Anyone have this problem also?

Did you hit the combine button in the collector's box? I didn't see it when turning in another one of these quests. As soon as I did that, it went smooth as silk.

Just for the sake of completeness, the name of the item created by combining the gems in the collector's box is called "Collection of Gems."
with my level 22 mage - managed to get all the quest givers for this line of PoK quests to talk with me, so it seems you can do these quests at 22, which is good since the effects pretty much end at 44.
So minimum level is for sure 22, possibly lower.

the effect doesnt end at 44 it will still work at 65 if your using a heal thats 44 and below. not that most classes would but for a cleric with superior this is worth having longer unless you get one of the better items with this on it.. Book of Obulous comes to mind
I was grouping in LOIO on Stromm Server yesterday, and we were pulling from the ruins near the river mouth (which runs towards FV) at the beach edge. The goblins were pleantiful and one of the caster types - (not the soothsayer - I apologize that I didnt get the correct name) dropped the Greenscale Emerald once. We never saw another in a total of 5 hours of pulls.
So it is possible to get that here, but it may be a rarer occurrence.

After 3 hours of killing the stonegrabbers, we were about to give it up, when gemmed spawned. Decided to take this last special, and immediately after gemmed died, the Optimistic spawned.
So, do not be discouraged. It does take some time. And all items are droppable, so, you can even try to buy them all.
One last note. All the specials drop an item for armor / item quests (mainly in Twilight Sea) so, if you get a group, all have a chance of getting an item drop for their class' quest.

Incorrect, I confirmed the part about An Optimistic Stonegrabber always spawning after A Gemmed Stonegrabber yesterday. When I did encounter the gemmed one, the optimistic did nto spawn for a good 2 hours later. It's completely random.
One last note. In the 3 hours we were killing these, we got 10 specials to spawn. So, they spawn fairly often. Just need to run the series.
The Shimmering Velium Ruby can drop off any of the Rygor. I got one off a Rygor Watchman in the first five minutes in the zone, I was letting the 62nd level animation kill everything around while my 27th level cleric friend looted everything. Was pleasantly surprised when she got that one so fast.
The Najena one sucked though, never did see it drop after 2 hours, got bored and left and bought it for her in the bazaar.

Drelynn is on the bottom floor of Building 2 (EQ Atlas) in POK at +850, +560. You MUST combine gems BEFORE giving box to Drelynn. After combining, the collector's box will be renamed 'A Collection of Gems' and will no longer open. The Fine Antique Veil is a wonderful reward for a cleric!

Drelynn is in the big two-story building in the "good" section of PoK, between the Kaladim and Kelethin stones. Hope this helps. =)

OK, this quest ends up with a GREAT reward for a lvl 30-ish cleric like myself. . .but dang. . . .it took me forever!
The hardest part to find was the Hope Dimond. No good information on when or where the Optimistic Stonegrabber pops, so you basically have to have a Ranger sitting in Darkshroud 24/7 until he pops. I finally gave up after 3 days (on-and-off of course) hunting in Dawnshroud.
Ended up finally buying the dimond at the Bazaar for 200pp. It was expensive, but I had enough time logged trying to get it the cheap way.

The Optimistic stonegrabber is one of severazl that spawns at the rock cluster near the druid potrt in in DSP on luclin

The hope diamond drops off an optimistic stonegrabber if I remember correct. I would imagine but not sure that keeping the other stonegrabbers dead might help.
Where is he located when he is up? Right in the area of the rockhoppers/sambats's in the cave. Laying down. Real close to that pesky wolf that is behind you when you are facing the cave.

About how long would this quest take for a 39th Druid to complete?
Took me about a week hunting down components. Mobs should be easy at 39.. . . .just got to find them.

You have to combine the gems to get your item. You will get your box back however empty if you combine them as well.
If you do not combine your gems will be eaten. Also this quest appears to be done by any lvl person who has the gems.

The same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. Did the quest, turned in and got the same response, box returned empty. I am level 32, so it can not be my level. The instruction say nothing about combine the jewels. Anyone have any advice on what the problem is and how to fix?

Not to be insulting but get a brain. If someone hands you a container to put items in and it has a combine button obviously you're gonna combine the damn items in the container once they are all in there. This is basic newbie quest stuff which I suggest you go back and practice like the rest of us did...

I got the box as asked and place gems in it and gave to her. She said "i dont need this" returned the box to me.
I wonder if i had to combine the gems. which does not seem right.

A friend told me that some quests in the PoK are not doable by low levels. Even if you get all the items (looted or bought), if you were not of a sufficent level that the quest givier would say something like "How could you have possibly done this?" and not give you the reward. Is this true for this quest or any other quest in PoK?
BTW Bought all the gems for less than 100pp in The Bazaar easily.

I did the artifact collection quest for the range slot item at level 10, so I don't think there is a problem in that regard.

got this off a goblin plague bringer tonight in frontier mountians. believe thats the same mob i got one from before too. goblin bonechillers may also drop them so itll come off a goblin caster type good hunting

I think she's in the middle of the room where this NPC stands. I did the Fine antique corset quest and that was the case.

I thought I would have to save up for a Book of Obulous to get Improved Healing 2. But checked this item, saw it was an easy quest, so I checked the bazaar. I spent exactly 100pp to get all four gems. Plenty available even. This item can't be beat at that price. I highly recomend this quest.
I went to WW and cleared the goblin for a couple of times *mutters something about a horse*, and I got 3 Greenscale Emeralds....they drop from the "a goblin soothsayer" mobs. Just FYI.

Ok this quest is going to be a b**** for most of u out there. It took me an entire day to do this and I must say I had many lucky breaks. First of all the greenscale emerald, dont even think of farming for this, I camped the goblin fort for 4 hours, not one drop... ended up buying it off someone in the auction channel, 150pp. The black saphire is also tough to get, I was lucky in that one of my guildies was hunting in the Najena and the Mob just popped up and he killed it. BTW there is a Blackened Saphire on a vendor in the library in PoK on Terrew Marr, going for about 250pp... The shimmering velium ruby, u can find on a vendor mostly, try the SH vendors next to the Nexus tp and those in CC and IC, got mine for 1 gold 2 silver. The hope diamond u can also find on some vendors, I ended up buying one off a guy who auctioned it in Dawnshroud peaks, 100pp. All in all I spent 250pp and some coins on this quest, I probally got ripped on most of this but i'm not patient enough to do it the old fashion way =)
I do love my viel, its a godsend for a cleric I recomend it to all clerics over +wis items (traded my acrylia mask +6 wis for it) saves u mana and ur grps lives in the long run.

Not at all silly. Well worth checking the merchants near to where these drop to see if they are available.
Froststone merchants in CC for the Shimmering Velium, Overhtere outpost, Iksar trader at the mudhole and Cabilis for the Greenscale etc...
