Find Marlyn McMerin at /loc -3812.98, 1668.34, -100.89

Hail, Marlyn McMerin

Marlyn McMerin says 'Greetings hearty adventurer. Searching for the components necessary for fine shaman spells are we? I have come to Kunark in [search of rare alchemist components], but I have found the dangers of Kunark are far too great for me.'

You say, 'I will search for rare Alchemy components'.

Marlyn McMerin says, 'I have heard word of four rare components - the clay of Ghiosk, crushed dread diamonds and powder of Yun. Most rare are chips from the bones of one who has touched the Bath of Obulus.'

She wants the following:

1. Clay of Ghiosk. Comes from Army Behemoths in the City of Mist - Called Strange Ochre Clay, and identifies as "Clay of Ghiosk."

2. Crushed Dread Diamonds. Go get a dufrenite (you can buy this at several cities). In the Dreadlands, in the area with all the wizard spires, there is a MOB called "gem cutter skeleton". He is inside one of the pyramids (there's an entrance on the ground), and is KOS to everyone. An Enchanter, Necro, or Bard is required to charm him so that you can hail him, and he talks about sparklies. Ask him "what dread diamond," and he offers to trade a dufrenite for one. Give him a dufrenite (while he's charmed) and he gives you a "Dread Diamond" [No Drop](not crushed), and says how they are very valuable but more so in the crushed form, and that you would require high skill and a spectral pestle to crush it. The spectral pestles are found on spectral guardians in Kaesora and Trakanon's Teeth, and combining the dread diamond + spectral pestle to make Crushed Diamonds, which identifies as "Crushed Dread Diamonds" (trivializes at around 70 Alchemy skill, so make sure your skill is high enough - you lose the pestle, but get the diamond back). Alternately, you can find Crushed Diamonds as a ground spawn in the Timorous Deep on the Golra island at -8850, -6040.

3. Powder of Yun. Come from Froglok Yun Shamans in Trakanon's Teeth. It is NO DROP, black and called Shaman Powder. Identifies as "Powder of Yun."

4. Bone chips from the bones of one who has touched the Bath of Obulus. These are called Greyish Bone Chips, and come from Skeleton Warlords in Karnor's Castle. People will often let you loot these from their kill. They identify as "Obulus Bone Chips."

Return all 4 items to Marlyn for your spell scroll.

Turn in Strange Ochre Clay, Crushed Diamonds, Yun Shaman Powder, Greyish Bone Chips.

Marlyn McMerin says, 'I requested the bone chips which touched the Bath of Obulus, clay of Ghiosk, powder of Yun and crushed dread diamonds.'

Marlyn McMerin says, 'Incredible! You have done well. I reward you with a spell which has been kept in my clan. I offer its secrets to one I now consider family.'

Scouring Timorous Deep looking for new NPC's I happened to see something on the ground on the Yeti island in the se part of the zone. It was crushed diamonds (LORE) and when I cast identify on them it identified as Crushed Dread Diamonds.

The same components are needed to complete the quest but instead of giving them to Marlyn McMerin in Firona, you need to give them to The Great Oowompa in Timorous Deep. He is found on the island where the boat stops on in the ogre village. Also, ive heard that the crushed diamonds can be found on the ground somewhere in
Timorous Deep.

IT AINT WORTH IT

Don't bother with this spell. At the level it requires to get it you regen mana naturally faster than this spell can give it to you

Ah, but it is worth it. If you time your cast to happen just after you have gotten you normal mana gen, the one that happens every 6 seconds, then sit right away, you will get both your normal sitting regen and the canni II boost.

I have heard some players call it the cannidance. I have a hot button that stands me up, casts cann 1 or 2, then sits me back down. Then I watch for the normal increase in mana and hit the hot button again.

I use this same technique with my ranger to run and regen mana as though I were sitting the whole time. I do not run as fast but I do regen mana at a better rate than just running.

is the scroll no drop???

1) the crushed dread diamonds may be found (lying on the ground) in Timorous deeps, on some island. I dont have the loc as ive never been there myself. Several shamen have found it there though. This should help shamen with lower alchemy skill get their crushed diamonds without using alchemy. Visit www.shamanscrucible.com for more info.

2) The quest starts with the Great Oowompa(?) in Tim. deeps for evils.

3) Even if youre an evil character you can get the skeletal chips easy by just hanging around kc for a time, it will be pulled sooner or later. No one ever loots them.

Here is the loc!

A bag of crushed dread diamonds is sitting right on the ground of the snow covered yeti island in Timorus Deep.

Its location is: -8850, -6040

It has a spawn time around 8-12 hours.

When you pick it up, it will be a white powder that says 'Crushed Diamonds' when you right click it. You must identify it for the full description, but it IS crushed dread diamonds.

Cannibalize 2 quest
# Aug 03 2000 at 1:38 PM Rating: Good
Okay, here's what I found when I did the quest, and it's not quite as hard as they make it out to be. First, get a necro or chanter friend to charm the gem cutter skeleton. He or his placeholder are the only skeletons that spawn in a static spot INSIDE a pyramid. Just hail him, say "dread diamond" give him your dufrenite and get your dread diamond.

Off to Kaesora next, you can get the pestle off any spectral mob includian the guardians of xalgoz. loot, combine with diamond in your medicine bag as long as you have skill 70 or higher and you get crushed diamonds.

Next, you're off to Trakanon's Teeth. Zone in from Emerald Jungle and go left along the zone wall. Just before you reach the aqueduct is where I found the most Yun Shaman to be. Careful now, they are 38-41 shaman and pack a good punch unless you are level 53 like I am and even then are dangerous to try and solo. I recommend bringing along a ranger or druid to track them and pull to the zone wall. The shaman powder you need MUST come from a Yun shaman. It is black in color. The white shaman powder from the lower level Tsu shaman is for a druid quest.

Now, I got kind lucky with the Strange Ochre Clay from City of Mist. I went there with a friend and got into a group. After 2 hours of nothing I happened to mention what I was really after and one of my group members had the clay, which is tradable, and gave it to me. It seems anyone who hunts in CoM gets the clay since the behemoth spawns within pull range of the zone, not in Lord Ghiosk's room as was erroneously posted on some other boards. My advice would be to get into a group there and also auction to buy it. I imagine it is worth about as much as Sands of Ro, but any decent person would simply give it to you.

The last part is potentially the hardest and most dangerous. I recommend tagging along with a high level group who is going to the Hand room in Karnor since the skeletal warlord is found there most often. Once again, you can probably simply loot it since no one else really wants it. This particular item, like the spectral pestle in Kaesora, is no drop. So, hang out, chat, make friends then loot your greyish bone chips when they kill the warlord.

It is helpful to have a necro or bard identify the items you've collected. They will be identified as the items McMerin has requested. Turn them in to her and you get a scroll called McMerin's Feast, but don't be alarmed, when you scribe it, it will say Cannibalize II. Enjoy!
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 28 2000 at 3:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Does anyone else see that this quest is completly un-duable for evil charachters? It requires fighting in zones that we can't take the faction hits with, and the quest starts in firona Vie for #@$@#$ sakes! How in the hell are trolls and ogres (and iskars) supposed to get this VERY important spell?

If you haven't ruined ogre faction like i have The great oowompa or so in Tim deep will give it to i heard. but further i agree on the faction hits you don;t want. besides the spell isn;t that great an improvement to the normal cannabalize which i cast to great satifaction still. I certainly won't waste a day or two of my and my friends time to get one lowly spell.

Haven't done any other parts of quest yet, but I've spent many hours in City of Mist. The place referred to earlier is normally called the temple. Get a group together there and you can get great experience while waiting for a Behemoth to spawn. Beware while pulling. It is possible to pull 8 spots from the temple without making a train, if they are done in the right order, and without harmony.
CoM and diamonds
# Jul 16 2000 at 11:57 AM Rating: Decent
CoM is in the middle of the Emerald Jungle zone. The dread diamond and crushed diamond can be traded. The pestile is no drop. The cool thing is if you fail the combine of the diamond and pestile you keep the diamond so you can try again with out having to get another Dread diamond.

The Yun Shaman powder in Trakanon's Teeth is NOT no drop as indicated above but rather just LORE.
I fought for hours trying to get one to spawn at the Emerald Jungle zone with no luck so we decided to move camp. We found Yun shaman shortly after this and they were located in the vicinity of neg 1200, neg 1600. It seems they always drop the powder too. Be sure that it is a black powder not the white powder that the other frogluk shaman drop.

I just need that stinkin Behemoth to complete the quest and I'll be done.

I'd like to know if the dread diamond is no drop, and so on the Crushed dread one; in other words do ya need the alchemy at 70 to finish the quest ?

CoM
# Jul 07 2000 at 6:59 PM Rating: Decent
Zone into CoM, go through first Large unlocked gate you see, hang a right, go straight until you see large stairs/terrace leading up on your left, do not go up these, however, you will see a small hallway leading to a greyish door, go through this door, and straight through an identical door, follow ramp around and up until you come to room where behemoth spawns. ITU or something might help, unless you have a group to clear the way. There is only one behemoth in the zone at a time, dropped clay for me first time.

Where are they ?
