Eye of the Griffon
Griffon Wing Cloak
As golden can spawn from anyplace a normal griffon would. Spawn rate is less than 1% have fun ppl.
Took me 3 months to get golden talon i had over 1500 griffon meat saw pretty much all other hunter mobs many times. This is about as much fun as south karana which im down to two mobs.
This zone for hunter is annoying. I have been here a while now (days) and no named except one siren. Come on man, let's get with it, I won't be alive forever.

Not much to offer but I've lived in JP for about 20 lvls lol. Iv'e made a ton o pp selling
plant shoots and Griffon meat, watched the village get overrun by the Darkpaw orcs many
times, watched lvl 65+'s come in for their quest npc fight, in other words many many MANY
hours. In all that time (stretching from Oct-Nov 04, a three month break then half Mar-April
05) And NEVER saw any named, heard of any named, or was asked about any named. Then in ONE
night in late April 05, I hit track and saw: Fiercewind, Jarg Oakenfist, and the Golden
Talon ALL UP AT THE SAME TIME! Needless to say I dropped them all as this may have been a
once in an EQ experience lol. I got the Fiercewind, Oakenfist gloves, and Griffon Wing
Cloak. So it is possible but these must be super rare spawns. Alla has very little usefull
info on any of the items, (no pricing on any) most a year or two old (or older) So if anyone
knows anything please post. Ive /ooc'ed many times for info and a PC but got no answers of
any use. Just FYI all three were db to my 59 Rng. Talon and Fiercewind easy fear kites. Jarg
was a real stinker, a casteing druid, can be slowed (better be) and was very tough. Kept
rooting and tossing out a couple other goodies. I had kei and HoV so was able to nuke shoot
and melee to finish. Well...I've got three uber rare pieces of junk or ???kpp lol. Have a
good one and stay alive.

I have spent so long in Jaggepine that I think I should be listed as an NPC by now =) . Always checking track, killed thousands of griffs, and have only seen Swiftclaw once, never seen Fiercewind, and Golden Talon remains an old wives tale. This zone has got to have the most infrequently spawned nameds that I've yet seen. Excepting the potameids that is. The queen and Myr seem to up fairly often.

potamides are rare too , I have killed hundreds of Phers for one of them and still not one named.

Ive soloed in JP from 46 to 51 (where im at now) on the al' kabor server. Must have killed thousands of griffons, just got my first eye today. Never ever even seen Golden Talon.

I've only seen him once in this zone. Is he anything like Silver Talon that wonders North Karana, which will dispell your butt if attacked?

This guy spawned about 20 minutes ago, and if it hadn't been for those damned wolves I'd have gotten him. Does anyone know if the QRG Protected Animals quest is broken on Stormhammer? I've done it over a hundred times and never seen a change in faction with the animals.

I cant tell you the exact drop rate on the Griffons, it seems very random. I have hunted griffons on and off from about level 40 and still visit at 52. Some days there are no drops at all (I know this as I have been the only person in the zone) other days I have seen 3 drop in a couple of hours. I have had 6 or 7 eyes in my time and have seen a few rot too!
Dose any one know the drop ratio on the eye on normal dudes like griffons and griffawns? i just heard bout golden talon. how do u get him to spawn? and where dose he or is he a random spawn?

I'm not sure of the drop rate of the Eye of regular grif's, but when I got mine I seen grif. glowing like a willowisp. So i took him out and got the Eye. Hope this helps

I came across GoldenTalon today and he was dark blue to my 49 lvl druid - making him 48 or lower.
Took him down to around 35 percent health before I ran out of mana and had to zone - will try again in a couple of levels.

i have a lvl 58 necro, i killed this guy soooo fast, it was soooo easy, first i summoned pet, then i snared him, he was heading to me i sent pet to attack, then i feared him and then my pet finished him off was really easy, i got the eye for my druid and now finally my druid has 255 wsi =D.
Golden Talon Does exist! Got him to spawn by killing turtles. Just guessing, but I think he spawned instead of The Pure One (Potameid) She seems to spawn every 6 hours. But not tonight. Got the Golden Boy instead. This is my sixth eye so you can guess how many griffs I've killed. Killing Giffons does not make him spawn.

I've been in JP for a month. This guy never spawns!

I got one of these to drop of a regular timber griffon. Must be a rare drop for them. I had killed 50 to 100 of them before this dropped. Nice range item but pain to remove everytime to sell because of the neg 20 on charisma.
It is a random rare drop. I soloed there from 51-56 and had like 10 drop, had to have killed THOUSANDS of timber griffons, never seen GT....
