Hallelujah, finally got this lil' bugger. The vial of purified water is still no rent. Caused my some grief since I had the other vials on alts, but after over a year of checking in the hidden area of TS, this was a very sweet quest to finish. My mage alt has gone up 30+ lvls since I first wanted to get him this, but oh well, he's going to wear it, even though he has other better gear now.
I started trying to do this quest a long time ago. I always felt bad I never finished so one day when I couldnt get a group I decided I would do it for fun...then I got obsessed. Ok, I hunted in Twilight Sea for 8 days about 6 or 7 hours a day before I got him. This is what I learned.
1. None of the named will have weapons. If you see it in the distance and it has a weapon it is not a named.
2. Only the wandering mobs are place holders for named. The ones standing static at the camps and behind the waterfall dont matter.
3. Killing the wandering warders and wandering spiritwarders tend to make the name pop faster.
4. There can be more than one named up at a time.
5. The named will wander. I have noticed they all tend to gravitate towards the back of the zone to the right side of the waterfall (If you are facing the waterfall).
Example: On one of the days I was in there I had made friends with a bard (Hi Seraphym). She needed a piece from there so we decided to band together. Well one day there was a nasty pull and I got overrun (that cral ligi attack sucks), very embaressing. As I was making my way back in she told me there were 4 named on track. Tenor, Demonologist, Friend, and Seer. When I first came out of the river the Tenor was right there are the front of the river, as I made my way back I passed the Demonologist walking perpendicular to the river head right (while facing the waterfall). So, while invis, I ran back and got my corpse and got rezzed. After I recovered and got a new pet out. She went to go go track the Tenor because that was a piece she wanted. So I am looking around at the waterfall when I see the Seer standing by the big rock. So I take him out. I loot, then as I am walking back to our camp I get jumped by the demonologist. Then a few minutes later while she is pulling the Tenor in the Friend walks right in front of me.
6. The named are no tougher than the normal ones.
7. The method I found to work best for me was to park my pet, run out and get a WHOLE BUNCH of them good and pissed off at me (not all that hard to do with amount of killing I had done. KOS big time (:oddly enough the Tro Jeg are thinking of electing me man of the year:) then run back to my pet and run around in circles while my pet beat them down. Rest for a while, loot the good stuff, and then grind another circle of them. Of course, this tactic is good with a pet class. Adjusting for your class accordingly will be best. I would normally do this in the large flat area to the left of the waterfall (if you are facing the waterfall) in the corner of the area.
8. It is possible for him to pop at any place in the zone. The day I got the piece I had just finished grinding a round when another bard showed up looking for parts for a monk friend of his. I told him I had the piece he was looking for but he wanted to see if he could get the mob to pop (Grol Baku Healer I believe) I said I would keep my eyes open and he aggreed he would keep an eye out for the vas ren waterlord for me. I was at the waterfall resting. He struck out to go looking for him mob. I started to head back to my flat place and grind another round when he told me the waterlord was up. I struck a deal for him to pull the waterlord to me and I would give him the ointment for free. He said he would. I turned to see him coming. He had pulled the waterlord from up by the big hill in the middle of the area.
I killed the mob and looted the vial. I am glad he was my last piece, the vial was no rent. I know for my level the robe aint all that grand, but after all, its the hunt not the prey. At the very least the loots werent to bad. Some of the named do drop gear that can sell pretty good. As for the regular ones they can have as much as 10 plat for cash loot each kill. Windstones and other assorted gems, condensed ice, and essence of wind. So at least I made some money. Anyway I hope I have helped.
I have been searching high and low in this area searching and searching so I can find this guy to kill. I think after a couple of weeks of searching I wont lose face by asking for help on finding it. I sure do appreciate the help:)
When you are in the main part of twilight go to the island that is east of the elemental island. The one that has the hut and merchants on it, NOT shadowisland. OK, on the island there are two docks. Go to the one facing north. Just off and swim north. Just before you reach the beach on the other side you will see a hole. Swim down through that hole and follow the tunnel. Have invis because you have to swim through some aggressive fish. Have EB because it is one huge swim with no air.
I found this guy wandering to the right side of the waterfall (if you face it)in the secret area. At the time I didn't know what what it was for so I let someone else keep it. Helps if you have a tracker.
My grp and I were killing things in the cave under the waterfall. I am not sure if there was a PH in there or not. I just got the Waterlord on track from in there and pulled him back fairly easy and he fell very easy.
is this possibly the MOB that drops the viel of purified water?.... under the quest section someone mentions a Cral Ligi Waterlord in this zone but it shows no such MOB in this bestiary... so confused?!?!?
