Ugly little guy. Hits harder than any other Netherbian I found, and doesn't cast. He drops the Netherbian Chiten every time, I believe.
The /con is solid. If you think you can take him (it?), you probably can.

killed to day by a 25 sk/average geared
Took him down today with 21 Sk, 22 Cleric, 24 Ranger, 17 Ranger, 17 Wizard, and 20 Rogue. There were 2 drones and 2 trogodytes also, so only the Sk and ranger (24) were tankign him with cleric healing. Dropped netherbian chitin

AC is 22, contrary to all the WRONG posts, and on the only mac server(al kabor) they only go for 100pp.

Me, A 27 Warrior and a guildie a 25 Rogue, took him easily with a few adds, doesnt hit for more than 30 and has really low HP.
I took down the Swarm Leader twice yesterday. His maximum hit was for 54 damage, most of the rest were between 15 and 30 damage. He bashes and stuns maybe twice as often as the Drones and Warriors. He hit me for about 660 damage and took around 1350 damage from me. The con is dead on: if you think you can take him then you probably can. Here's my edited log of the 2 minute fight:

I didn't realize the chitin was lore so I did a /shout to get someone to loot it before it rotted. The Netherbian Chitin sells for around 30 - 40 pp on the Stromm server (my price)although I've seen it being flogged for 100pp

I didn't realize the chitin was lore so I did a /shout to get someone to loot it before it rotted. The Netherbian Chitin sells for around 30 - 40 pp on the Stromm server (my price)although I've seen it being flogged for 100pp

He's got higher hps and does hit harder. I can verify that. My 34 ranger killed him after leading about 6 adds to the guards and keeping the Swarmer rooted. Dropped the BP.

They must've changed him. He seems to have a lot more hp now and hits for a lot more, upwards of 50 and 60 tops from what I've seen.

In order to get this guy to spawn you have to kill 4 netherbian swarmcallers. A GM told me this before, and when I did it he spawned. He has no place holders and will spawn anywhere.

Trog King drops a Beastlord/Shaman only Kilt (leggings) that have fairly good stats, but it's lore like the Neth Chitin, so just expect to get a few and sell them. Trog King was easy for my 3 person group (me as 26 ranger, 24 rogue and 26 Bard) since he was blue along with another trog and I looted it. Hope that helps some!
I'm a lvl 38 druid that killed this guy and I doubt he was 29 because at 38 he conned dark blue to me

Just thought I would put this up but the Netherbian Lair is not the only place this drops.
As of 28 May 2002 this dropped for me in Dawnshroud Peaks in the Hopper / Sambata cave off of a Tribal Shaman I think it was.
Stupid loot for how difficult that area is but knowledge is power. So here ya go.

There doesn't seem to be a faction hit for the netherbians, trogs, or fungoids. There are faction hits for the guards, though.

The maximum spawn time for this guy is only 1 hour, and sometimes, he spawns even more often. He drops the chitin every time, but too bad it's a lore item :(

It seems like great armor for a pally or cleric twink. Someone on Brell tried to sell this to me the other day for 500pp LOL. I offered her 100 for it which I think is more than it's worth. I couldn't get rid of one of them on Ayonae Ro for even close to 100pp. Different server but still..

If you were like 27 or so would it work if you traind him on a gard and heald him till the gard died and then took him out the rest of the way?

I solo'ed him very easily with a mildly twinked 22 SK...never had to use HT and only had about 600hp when i started he does seem to regen at a rather high rate

Is it a random spawn or does he spawn in a certain tunnel? I'm looking at a map of this zone on EQAtlas and there are two Netherbianalien tunnels listed but no spawn place for the Swarm Leader.

Had a group going in their tonight. We pulled it out from the tunnel that goes left from the giant column as if you were entering the zone from the nexus. Killed it about 5 or 6 times. I'm guesing he spawns in that tunnel.

not sure where exactly he spawns but he does wander around the caves. Does not see invis. Get a tracker to help, he is easy to be found. No idea how hard he hits for tho since i took him down real fast while pasing tho to Maidens.

Well, as a lvl 28 Rogue, not THAT well equipped, i took him out solo. Untwinked.

5.5pp is what I paid, from an NPC merchant in Shadow Haven, with high charisma but indifferent faction.

Me (lvl41 warrior) and my Cuz (26 cleric) were just kiling stuff all over and found him he was light blue and easy as hell to kill But What is the PC on the Chitin?? i looted it and a Hammer that sold for 5pp
