i'm a lvl 20 gnome mage. at lvl 16 i found out about him. i killed him up till lvl 20. now i'm killing tol nicealot. both are good faction but it makes no sense to kill phloation till lvl 24 when you can kill tol to lvl 30, sure it screws up your faction with erudin paladins but heack that's why there's the warrens

You will ***** up your faction with Erudite Citizen, you cannot repair it in the warrens.
It seems that just he and his sister are on this faction, though i am a Darkelf i started out indifferent to them.

He has approx. 500 hp

level 16 cleric, not twinked, but with 127 WIS(halfling) and a few pieces of the scarab armor from kaladim.

Could I take this guy at 16 or would he end up turning me into a sticky pulp?

I was a 19 Shaman when I found out about Phloatin he is an easy kill I just DD root and dot then when those break just melee him down. Took me from 19 to 24 in just a few weeks. And the money isn't bad either.

if you hail this guy he says "ahoy there [sailor]" and if you respond with "im not a sailor" he says something like "you must be a sailor after all the time you spent on a boat to get here." hardy har har this guys a real joker. i punched him in the face first time he insulted me like that. seriously tho, i dont know what it all means, if it means anything. its prolly just verants sick humor coming into play.

This guy and his sister Sinnin Highbrow compose the whole of the faction "Citizens of Erudin" as far as I know. It took many kills before Phlo and his sister became KoS to me. No big deal to me but I beleive his sister is part of the Stein of Moggok and possibly other quests. If you plan on doing any of those quests make sure you fix the faction of killing Phlo or Sinn by delivering an Kiss of Death from Bluehawks to Sinnkin Highbrow about 3 or 4 times per kill.

For anyone else who worries about faction, you can make it up by buying a Kiss of Death at Bluehawk's and running it up and giving it to the female Highbrow. This is how you get the Erud's tonic, but it also fixes the faction. Giving her three drinks is equivalent to killing him once, and he seems a fairly fast spawn...I had time to med, deliver the three drinks, and arrive in time to kill him all over again...took me from level 17-20 pretty fast.

He is excellent exp for a Necro. From level 16 (dangerous) on up to and including 18. He drops from 5 silver to 2 plat, and the odd words and runes. He hits hard (up to 36) but has no magic attack and you can pull him out of the bar he resides in, and NO guard will come to his assistance.

(No other faction adjustment)

The only other citizen of Erudin I know of, is his sister Sinkkin Highbrow, which has something to do with an Erudin Tonics quest.
