Well, i managed to never get my mask as a youngin, but I'd like it now for PvP reasons and just to say I got one. I'm a lvl 51 rogue now and was wondering my chances of soloing the room, hoping for no aggro from others in room as i attacked one of them, so i could take my time....if not, do you think if i brought along a druid or cleric of a decent lvl, how do i stand in that situation? With my server being PvP, i'm assuming a full group is probably a safe bet to get the mask and get out without much conflict, though i'd prob rape any darkie that stepped to me. Anyways, anyone who has soloed this room at lvl 51 or lower, can you tell me about aggro and how a rogue with lifetapping weps would stack up....

hi my cousin is is a halfing rogue.he said what tough about getting the mask is that there are 2 wizards across from him.but he played it when eq first cameout.im a lvl 38rogue can i go alone or should i full group cuz of the wiz?leethalblade ps i want to buy a fbss and crystaline spiderfang send me a tell if u wanna sell it to me)

I camped the room for two and half hours got the dagger,the mask and the bag it was fun.I had a 58monk pulling and 58 cleric np,they would pull five or six at a time.I dont think that the dagger is as good as a lot of rogues say.

My bard is level 21, i have a shammy friend that is level 54, makes IvU potions and can solo the heck out of anything, but i don't like to bother him and i was wondering, if i kick up some dirt in live side, will i be able to get through dead side?
I would suggest useing sneak I do believe bards get sneak or an invis v undead type song, don't they? to get to the camp once you know how to get there... in other words, go exploreing with your main character, or highest level. And no, there is no opposeing faction hit in LGuk to the dead side. If you hunt live, your dead does not go up; however, if you hunt dead, your live faction DOES go up.

If yer an Agnostic rogue you won't need the mask of deception to move around safely in places such as the Outpost in OT or other evil cities. I'd still con as I go along but I have no probs with my lvl 32 rogue. Although you may still want the mask fer it's vision capabilities.

I am a bit confused. I have heard that this mask has been removed from the game and no longer drops. Is this true or not?

What they changed is that the old mask didn't need to be equiped to be used. This meant that non rogue and non bards could use it. That mask no longer drops, and only the mask equipable by bards and rogues (and only able to be used when equiped) dropps.
actually it doesnt need to be equiped to be used, I just got mine and have a better mask (at least for melee stats) and i never have to equip mask to activate it

Rogue here...I'm setting out to run for my Mask of Deception. My only problem is bad faction that i may have now with Frogloks. I have killed Slaythe, a Froglock that spawns in Misty Thicket from a quest(did it for exp) a couple of times. How will this affect my faction in L GUK? If it hurts my faction, what are my chances as a 25 Rogue with All buffs, Invs and whatnot???

Dude you should be fine. you wount be able to kill the guy, but with your hide and sneak you can get down there safly, and there is almost always someone there that will let you loot it bacause it's only for Bard's and Rogue's. If you H+S the hole way there and back, you WILL not be seen. You might want to practise you swimming while hiding and sneaking, it's tough if you never tried it before.

Just a slight correction - you can indeed hidesneak all the way to the SR, and nothing will see you ... with one important exception.
The Assassin himself can see through hidesneak. He saw through mine, anyway, when I was at level 16. That was a ... learning experience.
However, you should be safe all the way down to the SR with hidesneak. Just make sure you have a good map and don't get lost, l.guk is confusing.

Ok, I started a bard, hes 21 now and was about to head out and get Mask... but reading through these posts I have just one thing to say.... WHY ARE YOU USING SNEAK INSTEAD OF SHARI'S!!!!!! We have invis, USE it!

Well, technically as we level, our invis song gets better and better to the point where it hides us from SOME undead, but you should not bet your life on it. I would still rely on hidesneak or invis to undead.

Its too hard to bother, and the stats suck for you anyway. Bards SHOULD definently get it, although im 33 and i have not been able to get it for a long while, and have lost nearly a whle level in the process. my only advice, get to 30, gets some guild mates ( i used a 52 wizzy) and go get the mask through force, becasue everything can see thorough sneak it seems, and your probably gonna die.

wrong. first, rogue sneek hide is not like bard sneek. almost nothing can see through rogue sneek hide (a few in Lguk can but if you learn em your ok). just sneek down and wait for it, the group camping will usually give it to you. second, rogues need to enter nariak for their epic and the burning rapier quest. altho they could sneek hide, its much easier to get the items if you have illusion dark elf. 3rd, the illusion gives UV which is great for any rogue thats not already a dark elf. 4th, you look hella tight and get to taunt bards who cant get one with it =)
Another benefit some overlook is the shrink potential. Larger race rogues (Barb, Kat) can be a tad tall in some tight spaces. This is unlimited charge of shrink, on top of its other bennies.
Reversely, if you play a Halfling/Gnome it acts as a grow so people don't always overlook them, and they can see stuff without looking WAY up, heh.

I have tried several times to get it, and being a bard most things see through my sneak. Is there any way to get a Mask of Deception without spending hundreds of plat on IvU potions?

okay.... one thing.. can this zone see rogue invis? cause everyone says thhis mob sees invis vs undead.. which kinda worries me..I looked at the map of upper guk and lower guk and my my.... everything looked like a maze :(

some gargoyles can see through sneek hide. some bags in bedroom can see through. and i believe the assasin himself can see through it. Also, when waiting in the room watch out for the ghoul caster AE spells, they will unhide and if your low lvl possibley kill you (tho not likely)

Wrong sorry there were at least 5 mobs that saw threw my sneak last night first was a Vampire bat in the bed room :p
I have seen alot of rogues/bards on Rodcet Nife with this mask, which is very well for all you barbarians/elves etc. But, Halflings don't need this mask at all! They are non-kos with Dark Elves/Trolls/Ogres anyway, so whats the point? Someone may argue that Dark-Elves get Ultra-Vision, but that isn't importent enough to get a high level guildie/buddy to go to LGuk to get it!
So if you are a Halfling don't bother getting this mask until you need it.

I'm a halfling rogue and worship Brell and yes I am KOS to DE's, trolls and ogres. Just because you're a halfling doesnt mean that evil races arent hostile.

when i had my harpoon of the depths an 8 25 i was on lv 10 and 11 and backstabing for 39 now i am 12 with my serrated bone dirk and have done 39 once 29 once and all the other ones r below 20 can anyone tell me what has happened and don't say i have to use it more to get use to it cause i have been using for a while
Here is the ****. If you want to do serious damage backstabbing you need to put as many points in it as it takes to keep it maxed out. I began saving my points from lvl 3 just so i could max out backstab at lvl 10. I use a crystal grinder 9 27 and with less than 130 STR i backstabbed for 49dmg at lvl 10. Now at lvl 22 with backstab skill maxed out I BS for 95dmg with the same weapon. I have also noticed that when buffed with a +10 STR buff it adds 4 or 5 points to my max BS damage in the low 20's.
The formula for BS is exponential so the dmg on your weapon is very important. Getting a 12dmg weapon will not increase the max hit by just 8 or 10 points. It will increase it more like 30 points in the low 20's. So save all your cash for those practice points and a great weapon.
Not spending the cash on armor will require that you keep hide/evade skill maxed as well so you can reverse taunt the mobs that are going to agro you when you hit them for good backstab damage.
P.S. It is not wise to try and pickpocket the guards in Kaladim...even if you do have a sow. :)

with a spine chill spear at 12 with un maxed skill can bstab for 52... i messed up when i made him tho and put most points into dex... so ill remake and see what i can do...

Ok to all of you rogues out there. DONT WORRY ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU BACKSTAB AT LEVEL 10. the only reason you bstab for a little is because of your skill. I was level 10 with a bsfang and i was bstabing for like 28 then like 5 lvls later puttiing all practices in it i am bstabing in teh 60's now i am level 40 and got this and bstab for around 270 i hope this helps GL ALL ROGUES

i was talkin to a bard about the mask and at lvl 2 i decided to do it i would be a great peep to get there alive at lvl 2 i got to fearott then ran to guk i went in and i was talkin to someone at the ac spawn and after i lotted some gator legs and arms i went to lower guk i ran in the assain room he wasnt there so i turned round to run out and he backstabed me for some stupid amount i died in one hit so i was so annoyed i got my whole guild to kill this one spwn hehe he died real quick and i got the sbd and the mask

I was wondering if someone would Kindly post directions (none vague, easy to follow) from South ro entrance into lowerguk to the room with the assasin. If you could i would greatly appreaciate it. Any tips on avoiding Mobs (I.E vampire bats) would be great. In these posts i have only caught tid bits, but if someone would make 1 post to make it clear to me it would be great.

After reading some of the heroic accounts of sneaking through Lower Guk, I decided to give it a shot. I also went to the bank and stripped down nekkid and then equiped my newbie dagger (just in case *wink*), and made my way across the desert. Running across S Ro can be a little nerve Wracking itself when you top a dune and run straight into a couple of shriveled mummies but I had SOW on so I kept on trucking. Armed with my maps (thanks to EQ Atlas *plug*) I made my way to Upper Guk and once inside, yelled for someone to help me get to the zone to LG. I was surprised at how friendly and helpfull people were in there. I ranger took me to the zone and found me a IVU. Unfortunately, when I zoned, my 'puter crashed and it took me 20 minutes to get back on. By the time I got back, she was gone. i shouted if anyone was camping the ***/sup room and soon found out that there were 2 rogues in front of me. Undaunted, I decided to stay put till my turn came. Well, they both got bored and left about an hour later so my turn was up!! I got through the water ok and the walked right into the bat cave and got killed. Well, while I was gone, guess who spawned? The assassin. by the time I got back, he was gone. It took him about 3 hours to re-spawn so i had time to get to know the people around me, all level 40 +. They were pretty cool to me and soon everyone knew why I was there. well, he finally re popped and the guy camping the spot took him out easily, only problem was that the assassin ran out into an open are surrounded by powerfull undead. I knew I had only one chance so i hid and snuck right up and looted the mask W00t. of course, when I looted the corpse i returned to view and got attacked by about 4 level 35 Mobs who quickly killed me but I had the mask. When I told every one that I got the mask, everybody was cheering for me. Karr dragged my corpse to the zone so all I had to was zone in from UG and loot it which I did. I then hightailed it back to ec as a dark elf....W00T

both masks are 13cha 7sv mg and 4AC.
the effect of illusion dark elf is a right click effect with unlimited charges.
the old mask could not be WORN by any class but bards and rogues although,
the old mask COULD be activated from inventory to turn ANY class into a dark elf.
there are two DIFFERENT masks in Kunark with the same stats that are also brd/rog only but are tradeable, one has an iksar illusion, one an erudite illusion.
the iksar and erudite masks are still brd/rog only and can NOT be activated from inventory.
the assasin sees through invis and ITU.
the supplier drops a bag and a belt, the bag is lore and I've seen it given away but don't get your hopes up, SBD is NOT lore so expect to be buying one or camping it yourself.
respect other's camps, if someone doesn't want you up there then leave and come back later.
some servers at some hours aren't going to be as easy to get a mask on so be patient.

I heard that the original plan for this mask was to have it wearable by ALL classes and ALL races. that was the neat thing about it. I've got a friend on the MM server who camped it for the last three days it was available before they patched it and made it BRD/ROG only. He says there are alot of people in his guild that have the original, but they're no drop, like the new one...I don't know much else about the old one, but the new one must be equiped on face and clicked to be triggered. sorry if this doesn't help...

There was a time when the original mask could have been worn by anyone, and it could be dropped.

No Maldan, you cannot cast Wolf Form in Lower Guk because the zone is indoors. I doubt you would be able to solo this room anyway. The Assassin is 35, the Supplier is 31.
The best way down here is to get an Invis v. Undead at the zone and RUN. If you want any of the items this guy or the supplier drops, you'd better go with a group or get up to 45+
