these wolves seem to be the PH for Fantoma and are random spawns in the wolf area, but beware of the summoned pets from this wolf...
Was killing mesa wolves for the armor quests in Mesa just now and happened to see this guy roaming around amidst all the other wolves. He conned blue to my 42 Nec so I didn't think he was going to be much different then the other wolves, but about 5 seconds into the fight he spawned multiple "a mesa alpha wolf pet" and killed my pet in about 3 seconds then they turned on me. I barely got FD off in time between all of their attacks and such. Moral of the story is don't mess with the Alpha Male :P
They look just like regular wolves in the zone so its often hard to tell apart. At lvl 51 I died 4 times to this crap while running around. And it's only light blue to me but if they catch up they will kill you if you can't tank.

I am now level 37 and the mob is still yellow to me
Is it me, or does this mob seem to aggro even if you are killing spideys and snakes or any other mob around them? It's starting to **** me off.

Summons pet similar to mage AA Host of elements ability. They last for about 30 seconds, but do alot of damage in that time.
All Mesa 'Type" wolves can also cast a "Leg Bite" spell that has a root effect and dots for about 3-4 ticks of 100-175 points of dmg

The first thing this mob does when it is damaged is summon 3-4 "A mesa alpha wolf pet" which hit slightly less than this mob, but run faster to make up for it. It can also spawn "a pack wolf" for added protection, which seems to be the same as "a mesa wolf," except for the pack wolf's threatening to all instead of indif...

Was kiting mesa wolfs to get the named to spawn. Didn't check the name when I cast cascading darkness, then ignite blood, then plague. All of a sudden i see the emote "You are swarmed by the wolf pack" and I have 3 pets on me. Easily kept up with me with run3. Glad I have manaskin up. Feigned them off while pet was backstabbing the alpha. They despawed as soon as I killed the alpha.

Green to a 55 ranger. Aggro'd it, it cast a spell, and summoned 4 (yikes!) "a mesa alpha wolf pet"... not sure if they stay up permanently, but, owchies... high-tailed it to the zoneline.
