Took one group, 59 chanter, 61 mage, 60 cleric, 60 rogue, 60 SK,and 57 Ranger to the Spider caves and ended up at the fort with this guy. The caves up to him are doable, a little difficult, with a few pulls of 2-3. When we got to the fort the mage was looking up info on him here. We sent the SK to hug the left like it said and that didnt work, he aggroed Rattius and immediately 3 gargantuan spiders spawned behind us and killed the chanter and mage. I camped out, came back. The spiders are untargetable, and rooted so if you stand close to the fort they dont do anything but snare you. Rattius was camping the SK's corpse and there were a few little rats who were blue to me there as well I dont know if they were triggered like a trap or if they spawned when the SK died. They aggroed me and I got killed, they hit for 230max. His guards see through invis, but did not see through the rogue sneaking around. The SK said Rattius hit for about 300 and had a lifetap for about as much.

We took this guy down last Friday. Anyway thought I would post a few things to help anyone out who wants to do it.

He is found in the rat caves which are along the left zone wall as you zone in. When you enter the caves and go a bit inside, you will come to a big open hall with a tunnel in front and a tunnel to the left. Bascially, take the tunnel in front and go ahead all the way and you will get to him. Before you do you will come to a few more open areas.
Rallius himself is found in a big open area on top of a platform surrounded by 4 guards.

Tactics/group makeup

We had overkill the first time we did it - 20 people or so. I reckon he can be done with a good group or a group plus a few more. We did not have a puller and this would have helped a lot to get singles.

Anyway, getting to him is not especially difficult. All the spiders and rats can be mezzed and a monk can help single pull. Eventually, you will come to a tunnel which opens out into the large hall where you can see him. You do have to kill quickly though as the respawn time is not long.

The trick here is to hug the left side of the tunnel wall and go out into the open area. If you keep hugging theleft side of the wall you wont get aggroed and you can proceed to a ledge on the left side of the hall where you can med up and prep for the pull.

FYI, if you aggro rallius early, two large spiders will spawn in the tunnel just before the open hall. they are untargetable and cast a aoe snare. if you make it into the hall safely, then they pose no problems as they dont move.

We tried to pacify the guards around him but due to strange pathing, they moved around and aggroed the other guards and rallius. With 2 enchanters, locking down all the adds was not a problem.

Rallius himself is cake. Straight up melee mob, max hit for about 500. Goes down quite quick. The problem you will have is that additional guards spawn during the fight. By the time we killed him I think we had up to 10 adds.

This is why group make up is important. If your aim is to kill just rallius, then keep the mobs mezzed, loot, random and then make sure you have some TPers so that you can gate out. If you want to kill all the mobs, 1 group may have problems. If you just want to kill him an ideal rallius killer group will prob be something like this:

Tank - sk/war/pal
Monk
Melee dmg - rogue/ranger for snares
Enchanter x 2
Shaman
Wizard/druid
cleric

If you want to kill the adds, you may need to add a necro to that to keep enchs pumped.

I guess he and the adds can be killed with a single group, but much will depend on the enchanter and hoping they don't go OOM. You will also need very good DPS to take them all down quickly.

He didnt drop much loot when we killed him. Only a quest piece and a parchment. However, in the course of the raid of just over an hour we got 4 parchment drops so the casters were happy.

Ok, I've now killed him twice (and been killed by him three times), so I'll try to pass on what I've learned.

First of all, do not underestimate the task of reaching him. Between Harm Touches, spiders that Complete Heal, and fast repops behind you, it can be difficult to reach Rallius' room if your group is too weak or poorly balanced, or if you allow people to take long AFK breaks along the way.

When you come to the first room in the spider caves, go right. Left is the wrong way to go if you want to take down Rallius, as it will put you in a poor position in his room. When you reach Rallius' room, everybody goes single file, one at a time, along the left wall until you reach a little alcove. Take all the time you want here to rest, rebuff, go over strategy, etc. Rallius has a large aggro range so don't let anybody wander near his fort. The reason why you moved to this spot is that two large, untargetable spiders spawn in the tunnels that you came from when Rallius is aggroed, spamming AE snare and generally working hard to get you killed. Moving to this safe spot will get outside the range of the AE.

Somebody then pacifies (Level 62 Enchanter spell, definitely preferred) or harmonies all of his guards. It may be difficult to target one of them - that's okay, just know that he will add with Rallius. Rallius is then pulled, bringing with him any un-pacified/harmonied guards as well as two guards that spawn with him. You can't do anything to prevent these two last adds so you had better be able to deal with them. Rallius is slowable (not too difficult), pure melee, and not too difficult of a fight. His guards can be mezzed or charmed fairly easily.

When you have killed him, quickly loot (decide before the fight who will loot the No Drop head) and be prepared to evac, as pathing is crazy around that fort and you may get some delayed adds.

The groups I have killed him with are:

62 Monk
60 Paladin
62 Enchanter
63 Bard
65 Shaman
60ish Cleric

as well as

60 Warrior
59 Druid
55 Cleric
65 Shaman
62 Enchanter
58 Magician

The three times I have failed were (a) the first time, when we tried to pull him into the tunnels, not knowing the AE snare spiders would spawn, and (b) two times (can you believe it, hehe) when somebody aggroed Rallius prematurely by getting too close to his fort. It's not fun to boss people around, but if you are leading a group against him you simply must yell and yell until people understand not to go anywhere near him until his guards will no longer aggro with him.

The Ratman is in the caves, you need to go straight on at the fisrt cavern, you come to another cavern with ratboys and a couple of spiders. take the tunnel out of this cavern and you come to the spawn area of the Ratman. there are 6 added ratboys who protect him.

Hi,
Where exactly in the caves is he? we found a build/castle around loc -3425, -65, with a bunch of diseased Bubonains. Is this the correct place?

Also is this a scripted event? do you need a flag?
Thanks for you help.

Went into the caves a couple nights this week, and came upon the "ramparts" looking thing with Disease Bubonians all over it. They were very difficult to split, and we ended up losing our cleric, so I had my rogue run up on the top and see what he could find before he died...was going to wait for corpse to go to GY.

I didn't see anything up top that looked like a cave, and I didn't see Rallius.

Do you have to have your entire party rush the top of that platform and he appears when you engage the Diseased Bubonians? Is he off in a further corner? Just curious how the Diseased rats come into play with him.

Thanks

He drops the Arachnid Antennae:

Not sure how his loot table works. I assume the head always drops for the quest and then maybe one or two items. We got the earring and an Ethereal Parchment in addition to the head.

The guy at the entrance to pod asks you to kill the guard that bertox has set over the plan . . .maybe this guy's head completes the quest?

We were exploring PoD and trying out the new Raid functionality... Got about 9 people together levels 55-60 and headed into the cave, clearing spiders and whatnot.

So our monk tries to pull this guy, and 2 untargetable giant spiders appear that hit for 695 (some sort of trap) we recover and head back down, this time charging his lair. The guy hit for 500ish, or 350 defensive. Slowed easily enough with malo.

Then a bunch of other rats burst out of the wall and agro us, our monk goes down, I think I counted around 9 adds. Chanter got em all mezzed, we dropped Rallius, and eventually got all the other rats down. Dropped Carapace x2, and his head.

Hope this helps )
Took him out with 3 groups.

Took him out with relative ease with 3 groups. our puller was inexperienced and we ended up having about 7 adds which were mezzed, we wasted Rallius quickly and fought off all of the adds, but then we got a bunch more adds and died. BUT we got the mob we came for.

Your puller wasn't inexperienced, err at least it wasn't his fault. The seven adds is all part of it.. unavoidable. You can't pull him to the halls due to the spider trap and he's surrounded by rats and then summons more.

Took him out with one group, entirely by accident. Didn't mean to trigger him Smiley: grin

He is an "event" on his own. When you approach his castle, he'll aggro - which will spawn big spiders in the hallways, to stop you from leaving.

He'll also call all of his little minion rats to help - about 8 in total. Need decent crowd control to get them locked up fast, though they're level 53 to 54 for the most part, and can be AE mes'd.

Did twice in one night (zone dropped), with:
61 Shaman, 62 Enc, 62 Enc, 61 Paladin, 60 Monk, 60 Ranger.

Also drops some gloves (5 int 5wis and a couple other stats...Didn't get them, just saw the stats) as well as his head, presumably a quest item (no drop) and a parchement for turn in for random 61+ spell...Had three groups, mostly upper 50's to take him (and his 5 minion adds...)
